The canon video game side story, "Mummy: Demastered" was released alongside the film and it fills in a lot of problems with that movie, plus is where the story concludes. A pretty fun Metroidvania actually.
The actual movie itself wasn't all that bad, even with the plot falling short at the end, but it was no "The Mummy".

Is it because of their age? They’re both nearing their 60’s, but Hugh Jackman managed to reprise his role as Wolverine in his age. Plus Rachel Weisz still looks amazing for her age. And Brendan Fraser managed to get in better shape than last time. So, it’s possible.
And I can’t recall which movie it was hinted at, but i remember their being a hint about going to Peru. So, they’re not lacking in potential settings.
My only worry is it might suck. God, i hope not.
