I used to think a lot about how much technology changed over previous generations, but less so about how much culture changed. Especially our empathy and appreciation of dogs. "Bitch" used to be an A tier derogatory term, but today, we can substitute Dolly for the dog in a celebration of life meme, and it absolutely hits. RIP Dolly - you really were an exceptionally awesome example of what our kind could be.

I'm enjoying the relief from a very hot summer, but this dip in August has come to be known around here as "fool's fall", because it's nearly always followed by another swelter before we get into a proper, actual fall. Still a great time to take on any outdoor work or plans you've been putting off due to the heat, but, don't put up your summer clothes just yet.

Looks like it just needed time to find its audience. Post is now 400 to the positive. Sometimes business is just about perseverance, if you know you're offering something that helps people, and you love doing it, keep at it. It'll work out.

I wish those nerds that came up with gas station card skimmers could come up with a drone that just ran off with a Flock camera.

Honeslty like, when it's the Outshine fruit bars or something its bad, but you could make those at home. You could choose to cut out unnecessary manufacturing steps, especially when the producer demonstrates a high risk of health hazards. But, when it's the lettuce, that where I think we should be raising hell. That's as simple as you can make a food, and they still screwed it up, literally distributing parasites across the country.

Looks like climate change is real ... all the ICE is melting.

This is welcome news, but still not enough. All this does is punish the lawyer for going along with it. If it was a conspiracy, all conspiring need to be punished to discourage future conspiracy. Especially, those that stood to benefit the most from it. If you conspired to unethically gain 10 billion dollars, it should set you back 30 billion, in the same way that if you get caught stealing, you aren't just required to turn over the stolen goods, you get penalized on top of it, substantially

Can confirm. Most of the head drops were, admittedly, self inflicted crib dives. Now hold the belief that you can support people who dedicate their lives to protecting us from crime and respond to life threatening situations, while also opposing mass surveillance and abuse of power.

While I agree with universal healthcare, I wish people would quit throwing around the term "richest country in the world". We are 40 trillion in debt. We're allowing a few rich billionaires to live here and extract cheap wealth, labor, resources, and steer our military towards their ends. But that, in my admittedly somewhat autistic opinion, does not make us rich.

Counter point: you could test it, and then provide the feedback that you didn't like it. Provide the analytics that you quit playing when the ads showed up. Provide the marketing data that the products being advertised became boycotted instead of selling more. I'm ok with that approach, and I'm ok with the approach of simply disengaging with the service that's blatantly preparing to make their service worse. Getting mad at the users though? That ain't it.

This is one tiny facet of the world anarchists will bring about if left unchecked. Lettuce is not naturally safe to eat. It takes effort ... either collective effort or individual effort to cleanse it. And in the world where the government isn't ensuring the collective effort part, the only way you get to eat lettuce is to wash it and cook it thoroughly.

At least he's got a rocket ship company to get away from this dumpster fire.

I don't know about this one. Seems like the store's just gonna tack on another 11% to the price, and then give that extra 11% to the ๐š ฬถ๐š˜ฬถ๐š›ฬถ๐š”ฬถ๐šŽฬถ๐š›ฬถs owners.

Sometimes, I wonder whether this gets reposted way more often than I'm seeing it, because sometimes it gets the moderation team upset.

Now that's some dank trolling.

I know imgur has a little chubby that an old man is dying, but, he's old, Trump's firing of the entire commission responsible for fair elections is far bigger news, and a Republican not knowing anything is hardly "shocking".

Guarantee you there was a meeting about it, first. Trump is falling apart, his most loyal base just tried to blow him with a couple billion dollar medicaid bust, but prices aren't going down and jobs aren't coming back, and those that see politics as a career and opportunity for power rather than a service to their country are already starting to pre-move their next play after Trump's gone. Which is most of them.

A few images back, Trump boasted a 99% approval rating in Israel. And well, when we think the worst way possible, I do have an idea.

This is pretty amazing, but keep in mind too, if a gazelle was trying to die in your coffee, you'd probably get it out of there too.

Not gonna lie, every time I hear that joyless orange crotch talk about needing a ballroom, I imagine his little shriveled up testis stuck in a wedgie.

To be fair, there can be many reasons to downvote something. For example, some would argue that they don't like imgur just being a reposting platform for twitter, and will downvote anything that's just a screenshot of twitter, regardless of the content/context.

I think a straight wealth tax (proposed by Bernie) is the answer here. The rules of the game have changed since the 1940s, just taxing "income" fails to close the loopholes that have allowed billionaires to accumulate so much untaxed wealth, chiefly, that they can hold unrealized gains indefinitely and borrow against them without ever showing income on paper according to our tax laws.

I absolutely think we should be taxing the extreme wealth of our billionaires, but I think if that would really raise 4.4 trillion dollars annually, we should take the first 8-10 years of it, and pay off the debt. We have spent generations borrowing money, giving billionaires tax cuts and saddling our kids with the consequences, it's time to be the generation with the big boy pants that breaks that cycle. Not continue to say "I got mine, fuck them kids".

I wonder how many more kids we could have fed on SNAP instead of, you know ... that.
