If someone screencaps this and it gets to the front page, I'll make fun of you for screencaping this and getting it to the front page in the poetic style of your choice. Warning: I am a good poet.

My bullies would have if they could.

I bet you completely forgot about Fatty Bolger, Frodo's other best friend. (Yes, really!)

The musical was an Israeli local production. There's a fairly robust theater scene, including children's theater.

So the TV show would have a Hugo game on screen. We're talking like proto-running-mobile-games where you basically just have to hop to the correct lane to avoid an obstacle. Then a kid would phone in and they'd connect their line to the controls, such that the kid could press 4 or 6 on their phone to make Hugo jump left or right. Top-notch children's entertainment for the early 90s, honestly.

In Hebrew he's "Effi," because the word for "where" is "Effo," leading to the incredibly catchy "Effo Effi."

I freakin love Hugo the Troll! He was very popular in Israel; we had the whole TV program thing in the 90s where people would call into the program and control him with their phone keys. Also there was a stage musical.

Much like Isildur died 6 months after claiming the ring, the men of 50 years ago aren't the men of today. Elrond was actually quite helpful to the Fellowship.

I will never forget Kshama Sawant bragging to Michigan's Green voters that they've successfully prevented the state from the Democrats. Not that they have any choice of winning; that they've succeeded in helping Trump.

men's problems, of course, but the way we talk about issues as the broader progressive movement has an impact on each of our individual pushes for equality. No equality has been achieved without either 1) support from the privileged or 2) bloody civil war that hurts the most vulnerable disproportionately. By de facto rejecting the former, you are embracing the latter.

who typically feels alienated by the progressive movement is NOT the type of straight, white, cis man that's directly benefiting from capitalism, or even just from white supremacist patriarchy. We can recognize that they have certain privileges, but at the same time must also acknowledge that they do have struggles unique to them, same as any other demographic. For example, the pressure to be toxically masculine/macho is an epidemic that destroys boys' lives. It's not up to feminists to solve

I think it's not black or white. Obviously, our society has innate mechanisms of exploitation and isn't set up for people to succeed or have economic mobility, but it traditionally HAS tried to extract value from people. An honest approach should recognize that yes, feminism and the broader progressive movement are pursuing crucial goals, but also humans aren't perfect and some of the culture and rhetoric around the progressive movement has led to alienation. The type of straight, white, cis man

I would like pointers on locating such content.

"Ideological civil war"? What the fuck? There is no civil war. MAGA is antisemitic, all the way down, period. It's not even a question.

Sure, I'm not knocking Napoleon. Just saying that he was still an autocrat and the French people didn't mind.

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is that a spoiler or speculation?

The French Revolution wasn't about inequality or the class divide. It was about corruption and inefficient governance. After executing all the nobility (and anyone who vaguely associated with the nobility), the French proceeded to install Napoleon as a very popular emperor.

Old Testament: "It's a rough world out there. Here are some questionable rules for navigating it. Some of them are definitely arbitrary. Don't question them."
New Testament: "The world is nicer now, so you should be nice to everyone, including bad people. Don't worry; when they die, God will TORTURE THEM FOREVER. Also you should hate Jews."

Does anyone know why this person has the flag of Sudan in their username?

Do you think Imgur is where I go for my political news? I have other sources for that, thanks. But everyone needs a break, and this used to be mine.

I guarantee you that there are universities in California where the same thing would have happened. Now, UW is a great school, but this seems to be a weird reason to spend $10K extra a year.

You don't understand! When Donald Trump browses Imgur, he'll see the front page flooded, and that will cause him to have a change of heart. I'm assuming that's what's going to happen, because otherwise I don't understand the strategy.

You imply everyone can only get their political information from Imgur, which is a rather dubious assertion.

I mean, obviously the first part is edited to not show us the 80% of people who could name a country. It's a comedy piece, not a study.

So we're all secretly Soros again? I can't keep track of whether everyone is a left-wing bot or a right-wing bot. It gets confusing.
