People enjoy different things, and some people might enjoy playing in a "your characters might die to random bullshit at any time, so have plenty of backups" type of campaign. There's no wrong way to play a TTRPG, as long as everyone involved is enjoying it. I'm pretty sure there are even entire TTRPG systems built around random bullshit deaths.Consent is key.
