They're taught to treat law enforcement as a war with military equipment and tactics. Maybe they should adhere to NATO or Geneva Convention
The police want military toys and tactics, they treat their job as a war on the streets. If they want to be soldiers, they need discipline.
Soldiers in the field fire when fired upon, as should cops. Those are the risks you assume as a public servant.
