I can relate to this. My son spent his 2nd and 3rd birthday in hospital, having numerous surgeries and transfusions, and due to covid rules I wasn't allowed to visit in hospital for the entire time he was receiving chemo etc... only once during the whole time did a nurse ask how I was coping, bless her.
