Let's get this bread (and the other things)

I have too much wine. Please help me get rid of it.

Today is Mechanic Day. We'll get to see how fucked I am. Thoughts and prayers, vibes, and hopes are appreciated.

There were so many dreams last night, I don't remember most, but the one that bordered on a nightmare was a MAGA remake of Parks and Rec. The Ron and Leslie characters were switched.

But anyway. The Tanager adventure yesterday was a nice break from the doom my life is currently circling around.

I've basically given up on enjoying anything ever again.

*monk in my case, but yeah. I don't have any dreams for my life anymore, like I did a month ago.

But that promises to be this one, too. Saw the local county prison is hiring guards. Do i sacrifice all my morals and values just to kill the compassion in me and learn brutality, simply to be able to keep a roof over my head?

The ribbon looks like a Prion, and prion diseases scare me.

I'm so tired.

I am so down for this sort of shenanigans.

This is the way.

This hasn't worked for me.

Pippin tax!

Today's message from Pippin: "[unintelligible conure gibberish] Oh Pippin."

#23 given all the biologists I worked with over the years, not a single one had balloon animal skills they learned in clown college that they applied to protein modeling and I think that’s sad.

@OP - Please don’t give up on finding joy and enjoyment in your life.

Bear with me for a moment.

I suffer from clinical depression and sometimes find all happiness drained out of me for no reason.

My mother had a poem hung on the wall in the tiny 1/2 bath where I used to take extra long poop breaks while procrastinating and avoiding my homework. In my boredom I accidentally memorized the poem.

Periodically throughout my life this poem has resurfaced in my brain and helped me cope.

The poem is:

Happiness is like a butterfly
The more you chase it
The more it will elude you
But if you turn your attention to other things
It comes and softly sits on your shoulder

Is it cheesy? Yes.

Does it work? Sometimes.

And sometimes, “sometimes” is all you need to get by.

If you don't manage your garden properly, you can get an infestation of snails.

If you think you can do the job and do it with compassion, care and an understanding of the situation then apply. You don’t have to be a terror to do that job and you may find or even guide another to a form of salvation. Or not… it’s the end a job is a job and how you do it’s totally up to you.

Yeah I think the best prison guard is probably the person who doesn't really want to be a prison guard (unless the thing they really want to be is like a cop or an oligarch or something). The Standford prison experiment was bullshit, becoming a prison guard won't change who you are.

#1 I think that bath is a sink...

#48 the trick is you gotta say "sure, i'll share my family name with you" boom. Now you're married.

A job is a job and we all do what we must to survive. You dont have to work there forever, you'd don't have to be an asshole just because you work as a guard at the prison.

#3 to be honest there were several reasons other human forms wen extinct, for example Neanderthals didn't use range weapons (no artifacts suggest they had bows plus based on their anatomy, they didn't really throw stuft) while hunting large prey which meant a large number of injuries. Plus as the climate and the landscape changed, smaller prey became what was more available but that was less food for still quite some effort. Also, apparently they had some depression genes they passed onto us.

#16 it could also be that the crimes of the pigeon are too numerous to list

10 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Loitering, theft, vandalism, and tax fraud for starters.

#3 There are still plenty of Neanderthals.

#38 this reminded me of the short horror story where the narrator started getting texts from everyone on their contact list telling them to look at the moon, it’s so beautiful tonight

Would have been better if she didn't just drop the clippings back to the ground, but good for her... and for the pigeons she's helping.

#21 "Very few" implies more than one whale can do a kickflip and more than one skateboarder can eat more than 40 million krill in one day.

Correct.

It's the same whale me thinks

10 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It's to leave room for the slightest possibility that indeed one or more of each species can do such a thing. It is unlikely but unless we observed every skater and whale entirely (impossible) we cannot be sure and therefore it cannot be ruled out.

10 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Well, skaters would be self-reporting, and there aren't that many whales around and they're kinda big so I don't think it would be impossible.

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Maybe there are skaters that could but don't know that they can because they're underprivileged and live in the inner city and not the ocean.

Spiders Georg has entered the chat.

Or because they know it's true from previous observation.
