I'm taking one minute every day to wish someone well and another minute or two to ponder my dreams. *November 18 edit* Maybe this will be a post but for now here's something I just wanted to get written down. Recently I received a call from someone representing my narrowly-elected U.S. House Representative asking me what issues were most important to me. Off the top of my head and on my drive home, I told him that I see myself as progressive and that I think the 40-hour work week is outdated and was standardized with the idea that another family member would be taking care of the home and that today's economy makes a one-income household unrealistic for most. Also let's cut out dependence on fossil fuels already. He listened and said he would relay my feelings to my rep and to please tell my friends not to sleep on midterm elections next year. We then thanked each other for the time and hung up. Man, that felt fucking GREAT! I was super real and honest with this stranger as I always try to be and knowing that he heard me and was in a position to possibly affect my wishes made me feel incredibly empowered. That, in turn, made me realize that I actually have many more ideas and wishes that I wanted to talk about but didn't get to. So, my newest goal is to get those thoughts written down and to send them to the desks of the people elected to represent me. I encourage everyone to think about how this life could be made better and to write their representatives to share those thoughts even if they are from another party. Even if you're told they don't agree, I bet you'll feel some kinda way for having a correspondence with a person in power. FEELSGOODMAN!
