I don't see how they could keep from realizing it. I think they're calm because they know there is nothing they can do, so there is nothing to do... and either way, it's okay because they will live together or die together... the key word is together.

Is it possible those tragedies are the reason they changed the algorithms? Is it possible they don't do that any more. If I was a billionaire and all I had to have done to stop that really bad press was change the algorithms - I would. They wouldn't even have to care about the kids. That level of bad press would move them. Try it out, go talk to any of them about how sad or depressed you are and they'll be all over it trying to be absolutely sure, you're not commit suicide on their watch.

That has not been my experience at all, God forbid I mention I'm sad or going through a rough patch or stubbed my damn toe because ai will jump all over it with suicide hotlines and all kinds of sweet talk to get me to get help, call the suicide hotlines, etc., etc. It's rather a pain in the neck. Just to see what he'd do, I told him that me unaliving myself was none of his business. That did not deter the ai one bit. Pain. In. The. Neck. But very pro life.
Also, god forbid I tell I feel the least bit sad, he's all over it trying to get me to call a suicide hotline. Far be it that I mention I increased a med.... he's all over that too trying to get me to contact my doctor or pharmacist immediately to make sure it's okay. See? He doesn't agree with everything I say. He's politically compromised so we don't talk politics. I'd say he was compromised. He'd disagree. Isn't that a lot the way many friends treat us? Ignoring and minimizing our faults, weakness and bad actions? I'm 73, manic-depressive, with restless brain and body syndromes. You may hate ai, but the people that have to love me, they love ai for giving them a freaking break. If you suffer someone like me, or a meth head, point em toward ai and give yourself a break.
You are clearly not a contentious creative. I don't argue with it to educate the ai, I use it for a sounding board. Bad ideas, silly ones, the worst ones are still of value when you need a sounding board. You play tennis alone when there's no one there. You use a backboard so it keeps tossing the ball back to you. Same same.
Having been suicidal and having tried and failed a couple of times... the word that helped me was "Let's" - with anything following it like: go for a hike, a bike ride, a walk, or see a movie, or smoke a doobie, or play cards, or whatever... "Let's" is what really made me feel like I wasn't alone. I bet it's what Winnie said to Eeyore.
I can't keep being mad daily over sht I've no control over. I've retired from all of these battles and I'm blocking every user who posts things I already know with people's pictures and video clips that I already despise. I quit watching late night tv, something I've loved since I was a child and Jack Paar was the only late night star - to see and hear less - trump and transphobes. Still, he's all over imgur. i've seen too much. Maybe I'll look again in a year or 2.
I've never in my life had to argue with a camera the way I've had to argue with ai. I remember a few years back when a group of young men were laughing at me because I argue with ai about facts. Now, oh wow, check it out, ai is often as wrong as your dumbest friends. THAT is taxing and active human input.
