Yeah. I appreciate you all, but I'm deleting this app for a while. This rapid-fire reminder of how fucked we are is compounding my rage.

This argument falls apart at a national level. If each person has one vote, that is the definition of fairness. John in Los Angeles has the same voting power as David in Casper, WY. We vote for our representatives by district, which is fair, and for the purposes of legislative representation, that is just fine. CA getting one electoral vote per 721,000 people vs. WY getting one electoral vote per 195,000 is egregious. Shifting voting power to individuals is objectively the fairest way to go.
As an American, I can assure you that living in it is like having intermittent diarrhea, but every 2 years you you have to keep the toilet nearby, and every 4 years, you can't physically leave the toilet.

A bit reductive, but not at all wrong ':DAs an American, I hate how hard it is to sound sane when the dumbest people in my country are loudest. All I can say is that insular people either act on their own or other insular people, while collaborative people act with other collaborative people. Our failures are our own, but we are almost never solely responsible for our successes.Our failings make us look aggressive, fat, and ignorant when we do almost nothing good on our effort alone.
These are not moves that supporters of democracy make.
I believe that sanity will prevail. Yes, I know I have no basis to rely on sanity yet, but I don't know what's below that.
The lines are one of the least outwardly malicious aspects of voting hurdles in the US. I'll accept lines. I won't accept needlessly complicated ID requirements (poll taxes), poorly worded and misleading initiatives, deliberately understaffed or sparcely available polling locations. These are all tricks that conservatives use that aren't expressly illegal but are extremely unethical.
As a northerner, you don't know what you're missing.
Ours are dumb as hell. They look like they were an art contest winner in the 1960s that say "I voted" in 4pt font.
I voted in a no hope state (ND), and my wait was still 30ish minutes. The line was overwhelmingly female, though, so I'm hoping for a miracle!
Quick everyone register as Republicans by 2026 and primary all MAGA candidates!
Honestly, not a great scenario. Kelce has the obligation as a public figure to have a bit thicker skin, but honestly, I can't say I wouldn't have done the same thing if someone was talking shit about my sibling. IMO the slur is the only thing that I think he has any remote obligation to apologize for, but even then, he was responding to its use in kind. He didn't just pull "f****t" from the ether.
My phone is extra politically poignant today.
#2 lol when my gf and I started dating, I asked if she'd ever seen Lord of the Rings, and she said that her dad liked it, but she said it seemed kind of boring. We made a compromise that we would watch the first hour of Fellowship, and if she didn't like it, we could watch something else.She called me a couple of days later, asking when we were gonna watch the rest 😂

Kids have to have an element of curiosity in order to find viewpoints that reject what they are programmed to think. No one is immune to propaganda but intellect, and a willingness to explore viewpoints in a manner that encourages empathy, makes one a helluva lot more resistant to it.
Part of me wondering if I should expound on "certain groups" as it could be argued to include hate groups, but I think not on the grounds that there are no undue stereotypes about hate groups.
Most aren't. Don't let stereotypes lead you to believe certain groups are beyond reason.

Dems are going to ride or die on the backs of women voters tomorrow. That's not me assigning blame if this goes sideways. Trump dug his own grave the day Roe v Wade was overturned. I live in a state that voted almost 70% for Trump in 2020, and I can say that I just about every woman that I know can not wait for the day his campaign breathes its last. Kamala probably won't take my state, but she will take a significant gouge out of it through women alone.
