voters pick insanity over our future

The next 4+ years are going to be a dumpster fire.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I've been trying to keep from vomiting since 5 or so this morning. I genuinely can't believe the level of self involvement and stupid shortsightedness Americans have shown. Do these morons seriously think Trump is going to lower prices?! Do they still not know how capitalism works?! What's worse, Trump is now without the people who kept him in check last time, often at great personal expense, and on top of that he has immunity from prosecution. Well done, America. Great job. 💔🤮

Unfortunately nowhere is safe now. The dangerous balance in the world was just handed to the worst side of it. The world is fucked.

“I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”

I don’t know what to do, done with living here and I’m afraid my state will flip red but I don’t have the resources to move my wife and kid to another country.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It’s crazy cause republicans have control over the senate and house. I don’t foresee this as going very well.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

They did in 2016 too, literally the only thing of consequence they did was lower taxes on the wealthy

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have dual citizenship in Europe. But I'm worried about an emboldened Russia and a weakened NATO.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

As an outsider, what's bothering me the most is seeing the right with zero empathy laughing at the concerns of people... He openly talked about a lot of bad shit and he's surrounding himself with yes men... You didn't "own the libs", you've fucked your own country. Tariffs will hurt the average American because they're the one paying that fucking tax... and as Jon Stewart said, his deportation bs won't be a fine tooth comb... Anyway, we'll see what his first fuckery will be...

2 years ago | Likes 61 Dislikes 7

Yup, people will literally die over this and here they are, gloating over it. Not even pretending it was for the "economy" or whatever. "Evil" hardly seems to cover it.

2 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

They were shooting beer cans with a trans person on it before this election.

People glorified it.

Now this is happening.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah the response from conservatives winning is always insane to me. They seem gleeful - like weird little goblins - to see liberals upset . When Democrats have won in the past, my thoughts are relief followed by wanting ALL Americans to benefit from sound policy, not just "my side."

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

there should have been a penalty for not voting- or maybe a tax credit to reduce your tax burden if you *did* vote.

Now, unfortunately, there won't be any more votes.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I'm a bit scared shitless for the first time ever in my life just because I think this is going to be way worse than 2016.

But I'm also disappointed in Democratic for how their candidate was handled. I don't like how Harris suddenly got to vault her way to presidential candidacy at the VERY last minute (August?) which gave little time to really know her like a typical running candidate.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

STOP THIS. A majority of voters chose fascism. This is not about Harris or handling or any of that other whiny crap. This is about a majority being evil. Stop blaming those who actually did something to stop this, however ineffectual. Recognize that we are up against an enemy that is about to strangle humanity. TIme to fight or flee. Choose. We have 2 months and then that's it.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I have never supported having a candidate suddenly "show up" last minute that forced me into making a decision between someone I barely have heard of and an evil tyrant. I don't want to just cast my vote against him and pick a candidate I want. There is no "stop this". It's never happened before. Candidates don't just back out 3 months before election so their VP can be forced to be a candidate. I chose neither her nor him.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I knew there was a chance but it boggles my mind that he won every single swing state.

I can't take 4 more years of this shit. The daily outrages, the corruption, the dismantling of our government...I don't think I can take it TBH.

2 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 4

It will be a lot more than four years.

2 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

Yup. If they get their way, they’ll make sure this was the last free election

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

I'm 64 and was planning on retiring next March. Not sure what will happen now... I can't even imagine what the future holds. I'm not as worried about the next 4 years as I am about the next 40, the next cheeto in chief can really fuck things up for a long time going forward. Imagine a supreme court that is 100% conservative - pretty likely all things considered. We're definitely fucked.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

So, realistically (in no specific order):
- The climate is fucked.
- Ukraine is fucked.
- Palestine is fucked.
- Women are fucked (some twice).
- Minorites are fucked.
- NATO is fucked.
- The poor, the lower middle class and the middle class are fucked.

By the grace of the almighty, the Top 1% and the Nazis are doing OK though, otherwise this would be a shit show.

2 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 5

Nazis aren't doing okay. They're just so full of hate they'd cut off their nose just to spite their face. I think that's what a lot of this is about. "I know he's bad for me, but he'll be even worse for the people I hate."

Except the rich nazis, obviously; but that's a function of their being rich, not their being nazis.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

that's what the MAGATS didn't, and won't until it hits them hard, understand. What Trump has promised to do will destroy the America they think they were preserving and they will not get any special treatment just for being Trump supporters.

This is even making me go into depression. There are so many despicable morons in your country. At least it's visably obvious we can't rely on US anymore.

2 years ago | Likes 158 Dislikes 9

Yup. As a non-USAsian, I'm getting migraine and depression at the same time. Awesome

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

this isn't a time for depression. this is a time for extreme self preservation. you and whomever you can trust are going to have to work together, covertly, waving the Trump flag so you don't become a target and play the long game. he's the oldest president ever elected and the job, especially as he's laid it out, is going to take its toll. you have to outlast him and his successor and win back control when the MAGATS realize they've screwed themselves with this play.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm right there with you. I think the most painful part is the pandemic taught me how selfish and stupid people are, but this has cemented how racists and sexist they are - when not just completely oblivious and/or apathetic. We gotta take things one day at a time, and try and act with courage for what's to come. Focus on your physical and mental health first.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

<3<3<3 Thank you, friend. If it's any consolation I feel like the biggest reason the "middle voters" were swayed was because of high grocery prices. I believe that voters all over the world punished the incumbents because of inflation. The nuances, unfortunately, meant nothing.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Right there with you, but the fear and rage i am feeling for my female, trans, and gay friends who dont? I am more scared for what might happen to them than what could happen to me.

On an entirely unrelated note, it's still pretty easy to buy a gun in this country.

In the one hand, I feel like having one would be handy since I love in an area where I am legitimately fearful for my life. In the other hand, my mental state has been spiraling so much these last few months, I think having one would also be a horrible idea.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

89% of firearm deaths is the US are self inflicted. Good call not having a gun until you are mentally ready.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's not just owning it, you need to become familiar with it. Go the range, keep a low profile while doing so. Don't mention politics. Learn how to field strip it, reload more effectively. As much as I hate it the right wingers have videos on how to be more effective with your armaments. Might as well use that information yourself.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I am actually contemplating buying a handgun and a rifle.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Welcome to my world. My job is definitely going to be secure for the next few months. Get your ammo from Freedom Munitions. The X-Def pistol ammo is really good, and I've heard good things about the 300 Blackout platform. We sell subsonic ammo for that too, so with a suppressor it's exceptionally quiet for a gunshot, and it still hits like a truck.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Funny that you mention that, I plan on buying a gun that's good with subsonic rounds.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Try our "HUSH" line then. My brother likes it in 300 blackout, and that is a pretty common AR platform.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My husband and I already started looking at guns as soon as we saw the news. In my state you only need a permit for concealed carry. No license or other permit needed.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Normally is would despise this type of comment. But it’s clear all other avenues have failed.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I won't lie, the paranoia had me making sure my guns were loaded last night as the counts were coming in, as I've got a pride flag and Harris sign on my yard and a house a few doors down has a Trump flag. It's a quiet neighborhood but who the hell knows what these people are prone to do anymore.

2 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 1

Same here, just like back in Germany, your neighbor might be your enemy now. Be careful.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I would take those flags down for a few months...

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I sadly took the Kamala sign to the trash today, but the pride flag stays up. I at least have the luxury of being a very large tall white guy, so I at least don't "present" as an easy target, but if so trying to hold onto the "do no harm but take no shit" mantra.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thankfully not american (but terrified af for all my queer siblings there especially), but if I was there I’d be arming up (even being vehemently anti-guns), hiding any pride symbols and flags, and planning a way out ASAP. Honestly, I’ve been saying it was time to get out since Jan6, before it was too late

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Don't have any real plans for leaving the country, no idea where I'd go, but we do have a "bug out bag" full of basic supplies and clothes and such. Made it more for emergencies where you might have to evacuate due to weather like tornadoes, but... yeah it's multi purpose at this point.

I spent eight years in the Army and we spent far too much time dealing with m4 and m16 malfunctions on weapons we couldn't turn in until they passed inspections.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I fear my .38 revolver won't cut it in the coming years...

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

9mm is the most common ammo type, just in case you need a backup

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dependable and doesn’t jam, no?

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Oh it's ultra reliable. But .38 is less common than 9mm or .45 for pistol rounds. And 6 shots may not suffice for what might come.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For home defense, experts recommend a shotgun, as you're less likely to shoot yourself than with a pistol. Don't forget to get proper firearm training, no matter what you choose.

2 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 1

Also, you're not as likely to shoot someone in the next room or one house over.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

plus shotties get the most fun ammo

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yeah while you're defending your home don't forget to set everything on fire lmao

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

it's like the ultimate defense. how often to you see people robbing something that's on fire?

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Well hang on.. I get a weird vibe their comment was hinting at something nefarious. Maybe a shotgun and training is the wrong approach.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Nah, it's legitimate advice. I'm not an expert, but what experts have told me is that you are less likely to accidentally injure yourself with a shotgun, and they are more recommended for home defense than a pistol. And, always -always- -ALWAYS- get proper firearm training regardless of the weapon you choose.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

I was being vague I guess. I was implying it sounded like they were suggesting that someone should shoot Trump. I was then suggesting that they should shoot themselves instead.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Full sweep too. House, senate, everything. Full red government. The only thing to stop what's coming is Biden using his immunity to blackbag these terrorists, something he has said he won't do. So, Dems just sitting back and letting it happen without a fight. Our democracy is done for and if not at the very least we won't have any control of our government for at least 50 years. We're toast.

2 years ago | Likes 557 Dislikes 16

Biden's biggest mistake is not enforcing a death-row sentence for the numerous insurrection and treason crimes he's been tied to.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Won't use the power that will be used on them the moment it can be done.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

We all know that, if Biden tried to actually make use of any of those extended powers, the SC would just step in and officially clarify that they only apply to Republicans...

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 26

I am sorry for your personal loss, but please do not let despair turn to violence. This is how Jan 6ers were talking before storming the capital. It's time to accept that this result was democracy in action, not stoke fears or radicalize.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 15

There would be an epic political uprising if he did that. And not in a good way

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

This is why I'm terrified. And I keep seeing friends on Facebook acting like things are going to get better. It's going to be a cascade of massive personnel changes with unqualified idiots, policy that harms minorities, and then a huge hit to our economy which won't be fixed. Within 6-12 months I expect a massive recession.

I wish Ruth would have done that, tho I’m not sure she would have been replaced by another like minded judge with all the shenanigans being pulled by the Rs in the Senate/House.

I believe you are right tho. If those sitting can be convinced to step down. Still have to deal with those egos.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

If she had done it in 2013 when Obama begged her to, the Democrats were in control of the Senate and would have had no problem replacing her.
They lost control of the Senate in the 2014 election, yet another election the democrats slept through.

Yeah it's quite the surprise to me, and does seem a bit suspicious as well, but I won't resort to conspiracy theories nor committing an insurrection. I will simply accept things as they are, and if it comes down to those needing help that worked towards these results, I'll leave them behind. Actions meet consequences, they are no longer my concern, and they get to live with what they did

2 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

Let's remember that Al Gore won but stepped down prematurely because he didn't demand a recount.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'm in the same boat as you. Republicans were desperate to cheat. Infiltrated our ballot counting process with 70+ personnel, and Trump repeatedly said that votes didn't matter. I don't trust he won anything.

2 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Honestly I'm thinking recounts need to be demanded.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I have to imagine they are being demanded as well as major audits. I doubt kamala threw up her hands and said "oh well what can we do" bc the current numbers are outside of your typical margin of error. But even if it were to overturn your gonna see political violence from the right bc of it and say it's rigged, even if Republicans do the audits. Doesn't matter it's fucked now.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Throwing up her hands and saying "Oh well what can we do" would be the Democrat way of handling it. I doubt they'll push it too hard. They think they'll just pivot farther right and try again in 4 years.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Exactly what @wherewehavebeen said. Blackbagging is a group of people show up in the night and put a black bag over your head and you're never heard from again.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I feel like there’s going to be a lot of black bags in project 2025.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And Trump specifically said he will go after ANYONE who disagrees with him. Black bags are coming. Maybe not in Jan after being sworn in, but once the takeover is complete, the purges begin. Every single time.

You don't even have a left wing. The majority of your country just openly embraced fascism, an even more right wing direction. This is what people are pissed about. Ask a democrat if they would prefer George Bush over this and see what the response is.

2 years ago | Likes 53 Dislikes 1

Ill take george bush every time, even with all the patriot act stuff

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

Right? Did you ever think you'd miss Bush? I know I sure as hell didn't. But at the same time he wasn't a fucking fascist and wasn't pushing the USA into being a fascist dictatorship.

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Majority of votes does not equal majority of the country. What we do know is at least 66 million Americans either haven't been paying attention or fully embrace a rapist, racist, felon of a coward.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

The Democrats aren't left wing you knucklehead, they're conservative.

2 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 6

We are all conservative now

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 25

No, Dems are conservative, Republicans are Fascist.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

72 million fascists, gotta catch em all!

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Demolish the education system, student debts, low income, min wage, no healthcare, spread fear and misinformation, appoint a minority group as the problem, demonize the opponent, appoint politically involved judges, vete good policies from the sitting party...I mean do you mean something entirely different than the above or...?

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Honestly if the DNC just gave us a better candidate it would be nice.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 8

The candidate was fine, the VP was great, but they keep moving right thinking they'll steal voters from the Republicans. It doesn't work, it's never worked, but they'll keep trying because the Dems are a right wing party, no matter how much Trumpers say they're socialist/communist.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes the people have voted

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 22

I question that. Republicans absolutely planned to cheat.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 4

Even if 5% of their votes were gathered by cheating in one or the other way - still, *millions and millions* of Americans voted for trump! Just unbelievable

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

The people who rejected him last election decided after jan 6th and his indictments that he was now presidential.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Currently 15 million less votes for Harris than what Biden got 4 years ago. People didn't show up and do their part.

2 years ago | Likes 457 Dislikes 4

2 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 1

Or the people who showed up last time said: Oh look, lots of people are voting, so I don't have to!!!

2 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 3

Anecdotally, that surprises me. My *usual* vote process is an in-and-out in about 5 minutes. Longest I've spent before was waiting behind 4 people, took about 15 minutes total. This year I was there for 3 hours.

Granted, some of that was the new technology (new machines that took my individual voting from 45 seconds to about 4 minutes), but that didn't feel like enough to make the lines THAT long.

2 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

I don't know your area, but I saw reports about inadequate voting stations given population sizes.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

We had the same number of machines as usual...but when the voting time quadruples, maybe the number of machines should have too?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The country is full of racists and misogynists. And hypocrites.

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

Which is weird because what i saw of early reporting was that she was plus 12 in some places that she lost

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

This country will not elect a woman for president. Very sad.

2 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 4

No one wanted her.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I did

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

You shouldn't have thought. We should have candidates worth voting for and since we didn't the idiots came out in droves to pick the funny rapist.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

I did too. And I am a former Republican

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's what kills me.

Leading up to the election i heard story after story about Repubs voting blue, women voting blue, latinos offended by that comedian voting blue, that Dems had a superior ground game. How attendance massively dwindled for trump rallies and were overcrowded at harris rallies.

All lies?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I wanna say foul play but I have no evidence so I’d just look stupid

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I feel like something else is at play here. We had double the people show up in my town, yet 15 million fewer people voted?! Should have been total record numbers.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

I did my part. We're fucked.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just goes to show, that as a country, the USA prefers a rapist, racist, convicted felon, who is known to have assaulted and raped both women(adults) and children(possibly even his OWN child), is a serial liar, who has proven he can lie non stop for hours on end, over a woman and/or a person of color. This includes those who sat at home because 'both are the same' who actively (by staying home) choose the side who would make life extremely difficult for anyone not male or white. USA = Anti-Woman

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

33M people voted for her in early/mail-in voting. I can't find numbers on how many people voted day-of but I would've expected it to be a hell of a lot more than 83M so where did everyone go? Red state voter suppression anyone?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Shows you how uninspiring a candidate she was. She had a lot going against her, including a party that ignored her until they realized their preferred candidate wasn't electable. If the country wants its first woman president it has to do better than Hillary and Kamala.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 9

Youre saying Trump is more inspiring? With rape, felony charges, failed casinos, referring to a female candidate as a bitch, mocking a reporter with Cerebral Palsy, and refusing to ever release a healthcare plan? Defrauding a childrens' cancer charity???

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

To a majority of the voters this time yes Trump was more inspiring. She lost the popular vote. She should not have been the candidate. Look at what she managed to do:

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well maybe Ivanka will run or MTG? Those the kind of women you’re looking for?

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

They should have had a real democratic convention. If they would have addressed the Biden problem earlier and got behind a better candidate they would have won. In a landslide.

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 7

This candidate was better. The fucking idiots not voting for her for whatever damn 'reason' their rotten brains came up with will regret it.

People should have understood that a chipped mug half full of boiled piss would have been an objectively better candidate. That the motto 'vote Blue no matter who' is wisdom passed down by generations who fought hard for the freedoms this electorate is throwing away.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I dunno about that. I think this was in the cards the whole time

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Y'all are too optimistic. 15 million people who were willing to vote for a white man weren't willing to vote for a black woman. That's the real, hard truth nobody wants to face.

2 years ago | Likes 60 Dislikes 3

It's a clear decision. People took the side of fascism. There's no way back from here. America doesn't deserve progress, democracy & human rights. This society has become unworthy to carry the torch of freedom and thus it must be passed on to a new, vigorous and determined vanguard.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Misogyny and racism is alive and well in America.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

It's one of the things I was worried about when Harris took the reins. Everyone was looking at the poll numbers, and logically she was more than qualified, but I kept having gnawing anxiety about how things worked with Hilary repeating themselves.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Yup. It's that simple.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Yeah. I hope they live forever

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In my town (red state) they told us they ran out of ballots to come back at 6. Of course that didn't go over well. I had a blank sheet of paper and some weird machine and then the regular machine it was such a messed up bunch of shit, on the news and everything. I waited 6 hours to vote. It did no good and this shit with the ballots was allowed. What the hell, I will never vote again, never. It dosent matter anymore I am convinced it's all right and our vote DOES NOT MATTER.

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 22

knew the oligarcs were going to install him, now all of a sudden the magats will start buying cybertrucks and electric cars will be ok

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

No it does matter. Look at New York. Trump went from losing by 23 points in 2020 to just by 10 points in 2024. That's a huge swing. If you don't vote and others don't vote, it can tip the scales.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

"I will never vote again, never." Great, you've given up. Well done. Now you're part of the problem.

2 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 3

it's ok. trump said we'll never have to vote again.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I waited in line over 6 hours, was told several times to come back because they ran out of ballots, was given a blank sheet of paper to put into some machine, then into the voting machine ? And nothing was done about it? Now tell me why I don't think my vote mattered.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

So all the strategies they used to get you to give up and never vote again...worked. You're letting them win. Now and forever.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well your right. Fuck them. I'm just so upset.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Look I'm not unsympathetic, it absolutely sucks that you went through that, voting should never be that hard and I get that it's disheartening. But...who does you giving up benefit? The ones who have tried so hard to get you to give up. The ones who have made it harder to vote. The ones who are going to stay in power forever if regular people give up.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The democratic party didn't do their part either. Nor did Kamala. 5 texts a day and courting right wing voters doesn't get the left out to vote.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Voter turnout overall is way lower which I just don't get. Makes me wonder if it's voter suppression, axing people from the rolls, or some other shenanigans. The Seltzer poll in Iowa has never been more than 5 points out in the past and it was 16 points off. Doesn't make sense.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Most sexist and racist country in the world. Why would anyone expect a big turnout for a black woman?

2 years ago | Likes 124 Dislikes 17

Taliban reading this comment: "really? After all the effort we put in?"

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

This was my fear all along. A woman maybe, but a black woman? No. We also know how conservatives completely lost their minds when we elected a black president. And it's not just White people. It's everybody.

2 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 2

Nope. Hillary should have been the canary in the coal mine about Dems nominating ANY woman for president.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm ashamed to admit that it didn't even occur to me that Kamala was a woman. And the American people are so misogynistic they will choose a psychopath over a woman to be president. Make no mistake. I'm no Hillary lover. I can't stand the Clinton family. But I forgot that Trump has only been beaten by another man. I expected Kamala to win, but I forgot, just like hillary, that she was a woman running against a trump.

Not really, because they don't claim to be anything other than the repressive monarchies they claim to be, while we claim to be the most democratic anti facist anti racist country in the world, while electing a racist fascist dictator.

Okay sorry so right up there with the most sexist and racist countries in the world. What a weird thing to have to qualify.

2 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 6

I think misogyny has something to do with it, unfortunately

2 years ago | Likes 282 Dislikes 14

The misogynists votes for trump last time. The new votes are from fraud. The animals didn't stop trying to cheat at any point.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I live in California but the most red section of cali where most of the people here are of Hispanic origin and boy they would rather take this goon over a woman any day.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I think rampant racism, intimidation at and near polling places, and blatant ignorance of law and order pretty much sums up all that had to with it

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Why did the majority of white women vote for Trump?
Misogyny?
Whether it’s a man or woman on the top of the ticket, the last 5 elections, women have voted 54-55% for democrats. You’d think it would jump up when it’s a woman, it doesn’t.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Oh jesus christ. Theres always a race/sex factor but there wasnt enough on a statistical level to make a difference. The current administration with her in it is widely unpopular, her campaign was shit as the polls correctly showed and she never changed course. She fucked it, not the voters

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 15

Trump is a populist. Easy answers for complex problems. Apparently more than enough Americans loved to not having to think for themselves, so now they won't ever have to again ...

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Welcome to Costco, I love you!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Spoken like a true patriot, here's some American social credit for you! /s

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Agreed, but also the second time the dems put up a woman who didn’t go through ‘normal’ primaries. Hillary picked up hundreds of superdelegates really early and skewed the 2016 primaries very hard

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's definitely a factor. Racism too.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've been thinking this too. Trump was the constant, Clinton lost, Biden won, Harris lost. Should probably just stop taking the risk..

2 years ago | Likes 65 Dislikes 12

It's not a risk. It was a test - one that American society failed and doubled down on its failure. Progress cannot stop, new milestones were needed.

The progress of humanity will inevitably continue, but perhaps another country should take the helm. Transitioning all the institutions, the collected wisdom etc. will take decades and there will be setbacks and tragedies. But a new, reinvigorated population will take up the mantle eventually and disperse tRump's lingering, long shadow.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or at least not take the risk when so much is put on the line.

2 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 3

I don't think this problem is going away

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think you won't have to worry about that in the future. Unfortunately.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

Trump will create, and use, an executive dictatorship (bundling all the available power to the president). Say goodbye to the current US democracy.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yes, I hate to say it but this country is just not progressive enough to have a woman president yet. Until that time I’d rather end up with a male Democrat president than a disgusting piece of shit, which is any Republican

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I think that's one of the root problems. With all the very personal freedoms the US are fighting for (LGBT+, minorities etc), they (you?) tend to see yourself as more liberal/progressist than you actually are. I think Europe clearly has the edge when it comes to accepting women in positions of power... I'm so sorry for you. I was just watching Will & Harper yesterday evening, thinking that there were good people worth fighting for in the US... Today I want to vomit too.

2 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 2

That's the other thing, I think a lot of it is backlash over LGBT issues. They didn't like gay marriage, but trans issues really pissed them off

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They don't like that the government and city people display so much support when people struggle so much and have to buy iphones & opioids to sedate themselves and class progress has been dropped as a cause by democrats. It's always a problem of "me first".

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What's confusing the shit out of me is Clinton won the popular vote with plenty of scandals (whether or not they were valid), it's hard to blame this purely on sexism. I can understand that we lost the election, but how the fuck did Kamala lose the popular vote? I just don't understand what happened

Harris is a black woman. People are racist and misogynist, but some people aren't both.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Racism. Kamala had both misogyny and racism going against her and ultimately, I think that's what got her. They were counting on Latinos showing up and a decent amount of Latino men refused to vote for a woman. A decent amount of young men also wouldn't vote for her. Lots of bitter incels. They were counting on white women to show up and vote for her because of abortion rights, and those women either wouldn't vote for a black woman or were stupid enough to think trump is better for the economy.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Probably a lot of voter suppression but also there was so much completely deceitful negative advertising on how "bad" the economy is, plus very very bad lack of messaging deom the White House condemning Israel.

I know a LOT of young eligible voters that decided to stay home, and its really frustrating to see that voter turnout was so poor.

I am 60 and this was literally the most important election of my lifetime.

Every young person had a HUGE stake in the outcome. I am very disappointed.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

I personally think she lost because she really didn’t have any substantial country running experience. Her record just didn’t say presidential material to me. Trump had his base and I’d imagine that very few of them came to Harris’s side. I didn’t vote for Trump either but enough did.

You’re correct on the young voters who were the biggest talkers, not showing up. They get to reap what their reward is, whatever it may be.

As far as the economy, it sucked under Biden and continues to. I’m 63
