Had wild strawberries growing in the first house I lived in, in Alaska. Small, and tedious work to pick, but absolutely delicious :)

There are always wildfires here in the summer but oddly enough this was a fairly mild fire year. Interior Alaska had a handful but nothing crazy.
Ranked choice has helped. Really is a mixed bag when it comes to politics here. But overall, everyone gets on either way. You are eligible for the Alaska PFD after your first complete calendar year. So if you move here Jan 2nd it will be 729 days till you're eligible but on the first only 365.
Made the move from Napa 11 years ago and have never regretted it. Lived in Fairbanks for 5 years and can confirm the mosquitoes are brutal in the interior as well as the winters. Live north of Anchorage now and love it!
