I've been here since 2015? I joined after lurking to make a small post, then continued to lurk until a Trump Dump on 12/14/20 after the electoral college approved Biden, which was roughly my 5-year anniversary. Born: 1965 (1st year Gen X, not boomer but also Jones Generation). Status: unmarried, no kids, "widowed" in 2001 by a fiancee. Hometown: NW Indiana (in the Chicago area) and did grad school in Iowa. Now in NE Indiana. Lived and worked in the three "i" states in a row. Work: I'm a journalist, cartoonist/illustrator, teacher (taught daycare through college), and have been a dj/newscaster, tarot card reader, PR person, computer consultant, standardized test grader (ACT), and a slew of other things. I like geek culture but am not a fan of a specific genre/series. I was Marvel in the 1970s-1980s. My Doctors are Tom Baker, David Tennant, Christopher Eccleston (in that order). I still have a crush on Leela/Louise Jameson. I watch both Star Wars and Star Trek. My favorite writers are Mike Royko, H.L. Mencken, Ambrose Bierce, Truman Capote, Dorothy Parker, Jack Douglas, Alexander King, Susan Orlean, and F. Scott Fitzgerald. I'm into literary journalism. Besides cartoons, I like storybook art, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, dieselpunk, and mid-century modern/populuxe styles. A one-time friend said I'm a ghost of the 20th century. I'm a dog person who inherited a loving tortie cat. Scoop was named by the readers of a newspaper when she started as a newsroom kitten (see my post on it) and considers any woman in my life to be a side chick. I'm post-punk, post-modern, post-structuralist, and post-raisin bran. I mostly post political memes, humor, artwork, and (obviously) photos and video of Scoop. I'm not doing commissions (yet).
Both brothers got their PhDs in the sciences the year I got my MA in journalism. Older brother also got a JD, so he's a patent attorney.
All three of my siblings make six figures. I'm looking for work. I'm hoping something I applied for yesterday comes through. It's not six figures, but it look fun.
A former protege is an emmy winner for her work as a producer for a Chicago news station.
So many of my proteges have gone on to better jobs then me... I feel for you, @op .
Add to that a refusal to talk on the phone and other red flags.
Had a "person in the fashion industry" (in Indiana?) try to pull that when I was moving to a new city in 2021. They showed photos and said it was just as good as me seeing it. They were out of state and wanted to rent out their condo, they said. They'd mail keys to me.
Nope, if I can't see it, I'm not renting.
My condolences.
Planning to show her this?
This is why businesses pressured government to turn student loans over to them. It's perpetual profit.
Before getting to free college/trade school for all, the first step is to put a cap on student loans -- once they're repaid 1-1/2 times over, payments end. It'd be hard to argue that a profit of 50% is hardship or a loss.
They built this system bit-by-bit since Reagan. They played the long game with a plan. We need to do the same.
I, too, have that weakness, but it's unexploited.
They're trying to normalize "powerful," rich, white men molesting girls.
Cocaine was late 70s-early80s.
Well stated
One of R&M's creators (Justin Roiland) is accused of domestic abuse and false imprisonment (arrested and charged), as well as online predatory conduct towards minors and sexual harassment of a female show writer.
So that tracks with the administration's interests.
Just like she called the cops on any party she wasn't invited to in high school.
Who has the "turn sound on" symbol? The cloppity-clop is ambrosia and nectar.
So how are they going to deal with the coming boycott of their products? Tell the media not to cover it?
Which wife?
At what point?
I remember that guys never really liked the Go-Gos but did like the Bangles -- better musicians, better rockers (compared to pop), and hotter lead singer.
She's still beautiful. And she's 67 this year.
They were both so attractive in ways so unlike the standard of the time.
Dick Van Dyke was also an alcoholic during that period.
We were a half hour out of Chicago -- so many museums!
And they need to distance him?
It might be because Trump and his handlers have enough troubles to take care of. They don't need more accusations of pedo-protecting.
But he might get put to work in the kitchen.
I refuse to ever give up.
They never think it will happen to them. It's okay if it happens to others, especially if they're poor, minorities, liberals,...
Imagine the gun control conversation if private boarding schools got shot up regularly.
And actively support.
Surely you're pulling our legs!
Which one?
It's like actors who hate the roles that made them successful and wealthy. Other actors would kill for those kind of roles.
