Honestly my biggest fear in finding alien life, is finding evidence of it, but with no life left. Sure, Alien wars, are scary, alien tech is probably better. Or maybe its the opposite, just a bunch of stone age human-equivalent. Instead, imagine finding out that life does, or did exist. Maybe in numerous places. Many systems or planets, once held intelligent life similar to our own. And theyre all ldead. The idea of the great filter scares me just as much as potentially hostile life
This is one of those things like.. Fuck yeah! Science! Knowing life exists out there in one or another is/would be really cool. But like.. Its not world changing. Its not ground breaking in the same way as if we found life within our cosmic backyard. For one, its almost unreachable, at current tech generations would come and go before we made contact. Secondly,. It wouldnt change anything, Bills are still due, and the discovery wont change the world view of the people who need to change.

I wish i could relate. As someone who works in a kitchen I dont get PTO. any time off request I make is unpaid and costs me out of my own pocket. That said, I dont care. I am priority #1, my job work has objections to that. thats their problem not mine. I can alway find new work, and they can always find new cooks.
