I sincerely don't get how this concept could eventually win. I hated FB for many reasons but especially for the algorithm showing me content. And when it hit on YT, it became noticably worse to the point of unusable for casual browsing for me. Ever since then I only hit it up when I look for something specific. And still hate all algorithm sites today. When I browse random stuff I want to see random and maybe similar stuff, not 10 million of the same thing in a different colour
The capital will replace the poors with machines for themselves. Once secure in their luxury, they won't care about the rest, bar policing us with everpresent drones and lying to us to manufacture conflict by using the gullible fucks among us.
Nothing too different from now. The only distinction will be the sheer impossibility of rebellion. It's still somewhat possible, but not for long.
I mean.. thats kinda exactly what happened in the Matrix. AI got fed up with being abused, went to war with humanity. Though instead choosing to kill all humans, they instead locked them in the matrix
Its been a while, but iirc it wasnt their first choice. The machines were originally solar powered, and human chose the (almost literal) nuclear option and blotted out the sun. So they stuck us in the matrix to use as literal batteries to power themselves. Im like... 80% sure Im remembering right lol.
I didnt really watch it, im pretty sure that was the explanation in the 1st movie. Animatrix made me feel like I was on psychotropics and Adderall at the same time. Dont ask me why, thats just how it felt when I tried to watch it lol. Also no I dont actually know what that would feel like.

If AI were to take over, I'd want it to be like something from The Culture. But as it stands, it looks like we're more likely to get AM.

But the robots in our world only make art and such. They would still have a class of poor service workers to look down on.
friendsofsandwiches
Look, you can either store the humans as batteries, or terminate them.
Can't do both.
Pilgrymm
Humans don't make good batteries.
friendsofsandwiches
Well I'm sure whoever sold the machines on human batteries made us sound good.

SoftKleenex
Why not both?

I do unfortunately know what that feels like.
