Very disappointing. Ive been a die hard GM guy my whole life. I worked for them, and with the exception of a Kia I had for 3 years, I have exclusively driven GM cars/trucks. The new vehicles they're making are absolute garbage, and they've hitched to the trump train. I hope they go bankrupt.

I remember reading that it was absolutely normal to go back to the dealership after buying a brand new American car in the 50s-70s(?) because something would need fixing. That's why Japanese car makers became popular... The cars were built correctly from the get go.

I gave up GM after the government bailed them out in 2008/09, and they used most of their initial funds to pay exec bonuses, and then turned around and asked for more money. Ford bailed themselves out. CDJR paid their loan back in large part by selling off RAM. I will not by a GM product ever again.

It will take time, but yeah. If the Chinese are allowed to operate openly in the US, the American car market will be quickly dominated by them. US automakers won't be the only casualties. The Korean automakers will be put out as well (their track record for building cheap garbage is even worse than the Americans)

I mean, I wouldn't buy those vehicles anyway. I only hear how great they are, but I have yet to see any crash test and they haven't been around long enough to see their reliability. They are also backed by the Chinese government more so than GM. I wouldn't buy GM either, but that's for different reason.

It is not racist to acknowledge the state level hooks China has in everything. The US used to build somewhat dense cities with tons of trams too. It was all bulldozed for the car, legislation made it borderline illegal to build with any density or mixed use zoning, and as a result the US nowadays is largely car dependent.

Correct, 50 years ago the town I live in had a dedicated train station with switch tracks and freight infrastructure that serviced transit to the capital and the biggest cities in the state
