It’s hard! Physically, it’s not super taxing because you have the harness, but mentally is another story. Both knowing what to do (not panic), making appropriate micro adjustments (to maintain balance), and anticipating the shifts (because reacting might be too late to save it) all require constant attention with the background knowledge that if you mess up, water hurts a lot when you’re slammed into it. Cause he had been recording it all on his go pro with altimeter and speedometer on. He shared the video, and yes, it went from 35 to 0 in 1/2 a second. He shattered his legs, hips, arms and ribs. He is still walking.
I'd say 3 options: see where it takes you, if you can control the kite then aim it down like trying to land a regular kite, or if you really want to bail out then disconnect yourself.

I have been several times (including on snow). Once you learn how it isn't "hard," but takes a lot of skills and practice. It's like combining sailing, flying and boarding into one activity. I haven't been in this exact situation, but you control the kite, so you can fly back down. You can also depower the kite so it isn't a wing anymore and everything just falls slowly-ish. And as a last ditch emergency backup, you have a release on your harness so you can detach from the kite entirely. 1/
