Breaking artistic boundaries or just being a total nuisance? These students turned life drawing class into an impromptu performance art piece that'll be talked about for semesters.
I did this once when I was painting a landscape for a class and a cow joined in and wouldnt go away .. so it became part of the landscape. Got an A+ in that class thanks to that cow
I don't understand how people can just scribble and make it look like people. Nothing is refined, and yet it doesn't look like a third grader's drawing.
Proportions and perspective are preserved, fine detail is sacrificed to the tool's speed and convenience. This is being done by someone who has mastered the medium, and probably others. I love watching experts when they are 'in the flow'.
At the end of the video there is a pile of cords in front of the artist that aren't there at the start of the video. Perhaps they were placed during the time lapse, but it seems more likely that the start and the end of the video aren't part of the same sequence. Likely the artist took a reference photo then went elsewhere to complete the picture and video?
I mean, he was probably there with the intent to draw the students. There was space for an easel where there are gaps to see through, though maybe not as close as everybody else.
I follow the actual artist this video was originally taken from. His name is Paul Heaston, and he often draws this specific perspective in figure drawing class. He also draws a lot of vehicles and other different perspective drawings.
Possibly, but everybody from the model to the artists to the person leading the event all being assholes seems marginally less likely than that they say in the correct place to capture their subject.
Every time I see or think about a Life Drawing class I think of that French woman in that Mr. Bean episode that would touch people's foreheads and say "Inspired".

Everybody sketching the model is at an easel, standing, and they could have a view if he did they same. They're across the room and seated, so I assume the crowd was their subject.
There are a lot of things that can be true. Don't options require a lot fewer people to be unreasonably awful. But, obviously, I am not claiming to know the truth, as you can not.

I hope they got an A for that

I call it "I paid 9,800 a semester for this noise?"

Done that many a time in my life drawing classes when I failed to get a good angle on the model!

I'd like to learn how to draw, but where to start
CharlesTooke
Very nicely done.
emjaysea
I thought it was a nude model and the artist was going to draw all the other students nude, too.

You can become proficient in anything if you give yourself permission to suck at it first.

Hoping he shared it with the other painters.

Get there earlier.

Drawing feet and hands are the hardest part and this guy opted into doing 5x as many.

Was the instructor happy or furious. I enraged my 9th grade art teacher once for being creative with the premise.

Yeah, sorry, I modified my language to they elsewhere, but forgot here. I keep trying to do better, don't always succeed.

Lady pants lol

You're also not sure if this person has a disability or not, maybe they needed to sit down and couldnt stand

If you were already sitting in your spot with a clear view of the subject being drawn, these people in front of you are class A assholes.

There doesn't always have to be goodies and baddies in every situation. Just looks like a bunch of people enjoying some art.

Or there wasn't enough room or they came in late and didn't want to make people move.
BishlamekGurpgork
There is plenty of room. There isn't a gap the size of an easel, but there's plenty of room to just see, if you set up a step back.
suiseiseki
Or they just wanted to do some meta art.
