JustParentingThings

So, this morning I woke my twelve year old up for school. Twenty minutes later he was still in bed, so I turned on his light and told him to get up and get dressed or he would be grounded. When we left the house, he walked out the door first so I told him not to let the cat in (she's an outdoor cat that likes to shit everywhere when she comes inside). Because he was still angry at me for griping at him, he picked the cat up and tossed it into the house.

That night, my wife burned dinner so I went to DQ for burgers. He aasked for a plain cheeseburger. I got him a Flamethrower Burger (hot sauce, for the uninitiated). I didn't tell him.

funny

Better than Red Hot Brian Peppers.

This is the type of shit I expect coming in my future with my currently 11 month old son. I don't know who's the bigger kid, him or Daddy.

I would have made him have the burnt food or no food at all and treated the rest of the family to DQ. As he watched them eat.

Good point. I just told him. I also told him I would put the cat in his room next time. Wish I had an appropriate reaction gif.

That would be a great hidden camera gif of him walking in to find turds everywhere

When we made a mockery of the soap treatment for cussing (we kept spitting bubbles everywhere), we received jalapeƱo peppers instead. =(

You won't be so proud when he shits his pants, or the bed.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Um, he's twelve. Not a toddler. I didn't give the toddler hot sauce.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I feel kinda relevant since when I was a small child I grew up eating Harissa.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

gotta teach them somehow. just watch what they'll do back... kids are conniving little shits.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Clearly the issue here is your wife burning dinner.

12 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

You want him to learn his lesson? Take away his phone. Doesn't have a phone? Take away his video games systems.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Throw the cat in the house to shit on the rug? You get to sit there and watch as daddy destroys something you love.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Damn dude, the passive agressiveness in your family is fucking hard core.

Like father like son

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Next time make him eat the cat. That's a lesson to remember.

i actually thought that would be the ending of this story. I've got issues I should solve.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

OP can you raise all of the children so that America's next generation might have a chance.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Why? Do you hate me?

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

OP please your are humanities last stand.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

You got the basis of a country music song right there

12 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 1

FUCKING LOL that was my first thought too

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dammit cole I told you not to let the damn cat in

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Parenting done right in my opinion. You reprimanded him without withholding him from basic necessities or his social life. Hopefully, he (1

i disagree. if you have a kid who acts like a spiteful baby when he's upset and you react like a spiteful baby yourself that reinforces it.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I hope he (1's as well too!

140 characters seriously isn't enough space for my thoughts

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just toss the cat in his room and lock the door.

Ooooooh, I like this idea!

12 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

Do you guys have a shower? Does it use doors instead of curtains? Do you see where I'm going with this?

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

OP, I really hope you explained to him what he did wrong, why it was wrong instead of just giving him a hot burger.

12 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

We had that conversation the entire ride to school.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

You don't think he'd clean up his mess himself now, do you?

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sometimes the easiest solutions are the most elegant

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I would beat my kid if he blatantly disrespected and disobeyed me like that.

12 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 9

He's a little old for corporal punishment. Public humiliation is my ultimate weapon now. But seriously, why is this comment "bad?"

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

I think this is an AP reference.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Because Imgurians are against physical punishment under any circumstance and think everyone in the world responds better to talking.

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

2/2 peeing on the carpet. FIGURATIVELY, Imgur. I was speaking FIGURATIVELY.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I'm not a parent either, but I'm the youngest of 5 and all of us were raised with a firm hand and my siblings raise their kids that way. You

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

can't say it's bad and inhumane if it's proven to work time after time after time after time after time.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ah, in other words: Not parents. Young children are like dogs: occasionally you have to hit them with a newspaper to get them to stop 1/2

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I also think his use of the word "beat" probably contributed to it. Spank, you can often get away with but beat has a different connotation

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Or in other words they are parents but they realise that there's overwhelming empirical evidence violence is counterproductive.
