You know, I can't tell whether they replicated the sound of the original techtronic instrument sound things with classical instruments so well that they're indistinguishable, or they played the original overtop to disguise the difference.
… no. It still sounds like the original track is playing in the background. Either that or they’ve found a way to replicate the “circular saw hits a hollow metal tube” sound. Regardless, I like Lowland’s version better, if we’re talking about Sandstorm played by an orchestra.
This is awesome! I'd also recommend watching Darude performing Sandstorm in Helsinki on new year's eve for the 100th year of finnish indepence. https://youtu.be/db5f-A-vSyw?feature=shared
When I first opened this post I didn't scroll to see that there was more than the first clip and when it stopped I was thinking "how you gonna put a clip of this and stop it before the drop?"
Ugh I love anything electronic, house, or modern turned into a full orchestral. If you like this then Basement Jaxx x Metropole Orkest might be up your alley
Oh man that gave me goosebumps! Awesome :D Thanks for sharing. Also, the conductor reminded me of Julia Stiles so it was cool imagining her rocking out conducting lol
This surprised me with how it affected me. I love that despite all the darkness and evil in the world, we also have examples like this of people coming together cooperatively to be creative, to be silly, and to have fun. Humans make instruments and music and dance and gather together to do it. For all their horror, people can be quite beautiful sometimes
Serious question: do the conductors actually serve a purpose during the actual performance? It seems all the musicians would have their parts memorized? Or do they act as kind of a metronome?
Mainly as a metronome (so that they all have the same rhythm), but also more subjective things (which part should be louder or more silent etc.) - that info is not really included in the notes.

When Electric Callboy toured the US, the drummer did a sandstorm drum solo! I immediately recalled how to do the techno hands dance 😁

OK but imagine this song replacing "O Fortunate Son" for "ironic music played over helicopter scene in war movie".

Don't know how sandstorm could be ironic in a war movie unless it was set during operation desert storm but it was released 9 years too late.
