You always put the milk in first when pouring tea from the pot. Everyone knows this

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Thank you!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Putting the milk in first is the correct way to make tea. The Victorians did this to stop the hot water cracking China tea cups.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

It also creates an emulsion, not a concoction if you milk/teabag/then water. creates better taste, doesn't burn the tea.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Saying you want sugar in your tea and watch the person forget it as they make it but drink it quietly anyway

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Read all the quotes with IT Crowd character's voices.... Perfect :)

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I can hear most of this in Moss's voice.

Unless you're from Walworth. Then you'd scare a Russian mobster.

"What a lovely day!" "Yeah. But it's maybe a bit too hot."

After two of his ships were destroyed a British naval officer commented, "There seems to be something wrong with our bloody ships today".

Do any other Americans read this and feel very British on the inside or is it just me?

10 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

I think it's a bit like reading black twitter where you understand the reaction but don't fully comprehend how true these are.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

These are literally all James May-isms

"Oh crikey! It's the rozzers!"

#5 is also how we left the EU

10 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 0

I will name my first-born "Brexit" in honor!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

#12 is the language the history of Brexit will be written in, by extremely restrained historians.

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

You haven't yet. But when you do it'll be like this "Right." *slaps thighs and rises to leave*

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Haha I'm going to London in 3 days! Can't wait

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

dont do the touristy shit.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'd advise trying to see some of the countryside outside of London as well, if you can. The small towns are completely different.

Wait, I don't understand. Why is the time bloody?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That one speaks to me, and I'm not even British

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Bloody hell I love Britain - I´m from Germany though

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I love Germany, and I'm British. :)

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well good thing its only an hour flight. People, countryside, nature. Man - I need vacations

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yep exavtly. Planning on going with a few friends, we'll hopefully reinforce our German :)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wait... but loving being British is a very un-British thing to say. What are you?

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

No it's not.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Haha, im a Brit. I love our quirks.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If you have boobs I love your accent.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

If you don't have boobs I love your accent

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Be careful I've seen lots of men with boobage, not personally but I've seen, for instance, sumo wrestlers, have you seen the boobs on sumo?

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I believe you may have never heard the female Essex accent or the Scouse accent

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

As an American in the UK: The scouse accent is hot as fuck. So are very far northern accents. Hawt.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Which one?! There are so many. So, so many.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

These are the things that seem endearing, but are intolerable when you're in a relationship. And this is why we left you. -U.S.A.

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

As an Aussie living in the UK, entirely accurate

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If you insult a British person and they go "Right." there is a long period of deathly silence after where you have NO idea what will happen.

They are going to write a letter. And it will be brutal.

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

As a teacher, as soon as I say 'right' the whole class goes silent and looks terrified

10 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Is that because you throw troublemakers into a shark tank?

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's such a good idea

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Or, if you insult them, the deadly pause comes first and then they go '....I see', then all you can be certain of is, you are doomed.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

How does the Queen feel, knowing shes a meme? Asking as an american.

10 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Dear British People, I love you all and wish I could be one of you.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

As an Australian, all of these apply to us.

10 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Roight mate, fancy a cuppa and Tim Tams? :)

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You're like warm cockneys

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's because you're like us, only slightly more lively and a lot more insane.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Nonsense. Australians notice the time and choose to drink regardless! :D

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

In America #2 is about cereal. In Britain it's about tea. It's the little cultural differences that really Mae me smile.

10 years ago | Likes 87 Dislikes 3

The it's the differences. Of which there are none. That make the sameness - so special.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

If you're making tea in a teapot, then milk goes in the cup first, then add the tea. If you're making tea in a mug, add milk after.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

(Although I can't imagine the Queen not using a nice teapot, so the image/caption is a bit arse about face.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Who's Mae?

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm British and don't even drink tea (it happens) and it still upsets me when people put milk in first

10 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

I never knew people even put milk into tea.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Wait what?!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

We're talking about tea and not a British synonym for coffee right? I've never heard of putting milk into tea.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

... Tea, as in teabag, boiling water, and milk... coffee you can have milk in but don't have to, tea you have to

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oy, -1? Sorry if I offended you, ya wankers!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hmm, putting the milk in first for tea is a must for everyone I know, I thought that one meant the cereal.

10 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 28

If using a tea pot it's not the end of the world. If making the tea in a mug; the boiling water burns the milk making it taste bad.

10 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

I always use a pot, need to put milk in the mug first, then pour tea in so it mixes well

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I have good news! We have recently invented a new form of cutlery called a "tea spoon". This revolutionary device allows you to mix your tea

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sorry, I couldn't resist. :D

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also, you need boiling water to properly brew tea. If you make it in a cup adding milk first will not give you the right temperature.

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Strictly speaking, tea shouldn't be made with boiling water as it burns the leaves, but I think it's neither here nor there.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Depends on the tea. You can absolutely ruin greens with boiling water (as you said)

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In the context of Britain's Tea obsession, we're talking about standard, black tea. Green tea is rare and seen as a bit poncey.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Downvoted by armatures who don't know a tea pot exists

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

No, no you are wrong. Stop saying wrong things, you wrong person.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Not we don't and it's one of the biggest debates next do what do you call these things and how to say scone

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I thought scones were somewhat crumbly? That looks like a regular old bun.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

nono the picture is a bread roll a.k.a batch, barm cake. The name is heavily disputed, a scone is crumbley and different and how it is

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's not about what you put in the TEA first it's about what you put in the CUP first. And every Brit I know over here puts tea in first.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

#2 is acceptable when you brew your tea in a teapot/diffuser first.

10 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

Absobloodylutely. It's only these traitors who do it with teabags that want shooting.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

which is a superior way to experience tea. i'm mildly disappointed in the lack of teapots in cafes. (translation for non brits- horrified)

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Not just acceptable, advisable. It neutralises the tannin which otherwise stains the cup.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

is THAT why all the cups are stained at work?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Let me guess, you brew tea in the cup and add the milk after? Guess how I know... ;)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I personally am allergic to tea, but yeah that's what they all do. I'm totally taking this information to be ignored at work! lol

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Listen mate...
