https://www.thedailybeast.com/trump-kept-gold-club-world-cup-trophy-for-himself-so-fifa-had-to-give-the-winners-a-replica/

I need to rant REALLY badly about this one so if you dont care, please move on, May the force be with you.

As someone who loves Soccer, I cant begin to explain how much this pisses me off. The party that likes to bitch about "participation trophies" just had their emperor man-child steal one from a team that earned a trophy.

This LOSER wants to feel special no matter what because his fucking idiot racist father couldnt play catch with him when he was young, so now we have to suffer with him because he cant talk his problems out with a therapist.

I wish nothing but suffering for the Republican party and MORE specifically the MAGA cultist. I hope every bad thing comes their way for the rest of their MISERABLE LIVES.

I hate him.I hate him.I hate him.I hate him.I hate him.I hate him.I hate him.I hate him. >.<

When you're a star, they just let you do it, you can grab 'em by the trophy.

Rules is rules. Trophy is cursed until returned to the team. Whatchu think it's curse will show up like?

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I just cant wrap my head around people actually liking him.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

He's their pathetic little power fantasy. If they were born into wealth and privilege (more than they currently have), they'd act exactly like their orange idol.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is a rare photo when both people in it are equally despicable.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Let's remember who Infantino is.
Does soccer world cup in slavery-exploiting Qatar ring a bell?

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Have a little sympathy,if you had a kid like Donald would you play catch with him?

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So, that's why he wouldn't leave the podium after presenting Chelsea with the trophy, he really thinks HE won it.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

He also stole a medal at the same event

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Jesus fucking Christ, he just immediately pockets it. Even Infantino takes Trump's cock out of his mouth for long enough to look shocked.

That's a super weird way to say that the US President is a petty thief.

Why was he even there?!

To try and steal the spotlight from the athletes.

I care in that this is yet another embarrassment on the world stage for us, but I also don't care in the same way I don't care that a rapist jaywalked before assaulting their victim

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 9

Lol at the downvotes. We have a full on fascist working his way to be dictator for life, utilizing his private Supreme Court to shred the constitution. He's kidnapping people off the street and putting them in concentration camps after quietly revoking their legal status. He's marking millions for death by cutting medicare. He is drowning in blood from his actions.

I'm sorry, @OP, I can't be bothered that he took a trophy.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Well put. There’s so much distraction terribleness from Trump that it creates debates, news coverage, and time wasted compared to the actual atrocities and fascism moving in. They succeed in flooding the airwaves but the actual daily headline, every single day, should be Fascist Authoritarian Trump Still Destroying the Country. Not chasing every stupid “trump called Mattel a country, let’s ask the panel what they think this means” nonsense.

That's what you get for letting him hold something... thieves like him will steal anything not nailed down.

1 year ago | Likes 153 Dislikes 6

Saying it like that just reminded me of all the shit he stole from the white house when he lost against biden

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

the most pathetic part of it all is not even that, is the news still sugar coating an act of robbery as "kept for himself". rotten media pandering to a rapist criminal dictator is despicable.

1 year ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

They are incapable of calling out his criminality, debauchery and blatant stupidity... with every mention of him they normalize his behavior.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The stories in this book are unbelievable. Saw a father and son playing through on his course, invited them to play with him. Kid hits his ball on the green, Trump's fell short, Trump claimed the kid's ball was his and everyone just nodded in assent like he was going to Nino Brown the kid for claiming his ball. While this FIFA story is bizarre, it's nowhere near as petty as Trump has been known to be for...forever. He's literally Ron Richardson from Mr Mom.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is there any other source on this yet? The post makes it seem like he took the big trophy. I've seen a very short clip where he puts something in his pocket. That's it though. The rest seems made up. Anyone got anything besides "the daily beast"?

1 year ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 7

The medal was meant for him, the big one wasn't.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Okay, any verification that he actually took the big one? That's what I'm asking for.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Okay yeah, he didn't "take" it from the winning team. They gave it to him a while ago.

I hate the prick but this is low quality rage bait

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Reading the article and related ones, this isn't "Trump steals trophy for himself" as much as it is "FIFA bribes Trump with shiny objects in a blatantly corrupt exchange for favors."

1 year ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

I mean they did move thier head quarters to trump tower, so pretty on brand for FIFA.
Though this is pretty grotesque, gifting him a $230k gold trophy for a tournament he not only didn't play in, but also most certainly didn't even watch.
Its about time the heads of FIFA are investigated again. Maybe Spain could take the lead? They seem to have no problem going after corruption, especially sports related.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

oh. so business as usual for FIFA?

1 year ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

This seems far more likely for a myriad of reasons. It’s definitely more in keeping with Cheeto’s and other’s motivations and traditions.

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I don't care about soccer. I don't care about the CWC. However, this still brings a big ol' "WTF" from me

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Fifa loves trump and soccer fans love funding fifa .... nothing will change. People are assholes.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I literally don't know anyone that "likes funding FIFA", unfortunately, there's not much choice if you want to follow professional football. It's bit like how there's not much choice about having Trump as your president if you want to live in the US.

1 year ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

So many posts misrepresenting this. He was given the trophy. FIFA boss Infantino told him to keep it as they were making a new one.

1 year ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 11

Hell even OOP'S own article says

"the intricate prize hoisted aloft by the London club’s captain, Reece James, was a replica because the president of football’s governing body, FIFA, has let Trump use the original as an ornament in the Oval Office."

So we know OOP and most of the comments only looks at headlines. And they are part of the problem imo.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

"We have chosen not to pursue the item the president stole" could also be phrased that way.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

So the corrupt fifa boss gave the other corrupt boss a “gift”

1 year ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 2

So you won a trophy, and you find out, that the trophy doesn't go to you, but to the president of the hosting nation, and your team will have to do with a replica of said trophy. How does that feel?

It makes zero sense for this to happen, other than that Gianni "The Child" Infantino loooooooves to suck up to dictators. He did so in Qatar, and now in the US he does the same. But for daddy trump he goes even further, as FIFA has just purchased offices in Trump Tower too.

1 year ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 2

That still doesn't make it ok

1 year ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 1

Sure, but it's still misrepresentation to say he stole it or even wanted it (let's be real though, he did want it because he's obsessed with anything large, gold, and tacky), and the fact that it's graft between a corrupt organization and a corrupt president is already bad so there isn't even a point to misleading people about it

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

But Trump didn't win that game, the soccer team did

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"making a new one" EXACTLY like the old (it's a replica) when the original is in perfect condition (it's on display in the oval office). You're gullible as shit.

1 year ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 3

Had to make a new one because they couldn’t clean the syphilis off

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

So he got a participation trophy?

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Or he is making it up on the fly so as to not embarrass TRump. If TRump embarrasses TRump, that's OK - he'll never figure out that's what he's done anyway. But f someone else does it, there will be lawsuits, tariffs, and petty paybacks as far as the eye can see.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

He was not given the trophy. That is all whitewashing after the fact. FIFA is kissing his ass and walking on egg shells around Trump because the World Cup is being hosted by the United States next year.

1 year ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Reading the article and related ones, this isn't "Trump steals trophy for himself" as much as it is "FIFA bribes Trump with shiny objects in a blatantly corrupt exchange for favors."

1 year ago | Likes 288 Dislikes 0

I see it more as a case of "appeasing the orange sphincter" ahead of the World Cup so there aren't any problems. Particularly with a lot of people from other nations arriving at a time when they are being forcibly deported for no reason.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

It will hurt tourism, and when spread across many cities, amounts to a "bigly" amount of money. I'm pretty sure Trump is still gonna somehow fuck it up, anyway

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Bound to be a player or two being apprehended by ICE

FIFA's gonna FIFA. If they didn't do corrupt things they wouldn't do anything at all.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I didn't realize we are handing out partipation tropheys to the audiance now for being a die hard fan off the blood and sweat of the team! Liberals are ruining everything! /s

If it wasn't clear this is the exact pandering bullshit that the right bible thumps.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And as a result, I'll expect louder calls for a boycott of next years FIFA World Cup, that'll get ignored by all the teams. Like always.

Good luck to the Iranian team, they will also have to dodge ICE raids.

1 year ago | Likes 62 Dislikes 0

Omg, i can totally see them try to host the world cup only to deny access to the US once it commences so the US team is the only one present! Lmao

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yeah I genuinely believe he has no idea he's not supposed to have that.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That was the first thing that came to my mind as well. FIFA bosses have been in all sorts of money related scams and lawsuits. Would love it to backfire and a team sue FIFA directly for a breach of contract or something due to be awarded a fake.

1 year ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

And when he’s asked, he’ll lie and say the team said he deserved it.

1 year ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Not to defend Trump, but... this raises the question of if it's a lie if he believes it when he says it because he's so goddamned far up his own ass he believes anything that glorifies himself? At what point does a delusion dilute a lie into untruth? Trump is so clearly lost to reality at this point that it's hard to tell what's a deliberate lie anymore.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

They said to me, these grown men with tears in their eyes, it was because of me they won. You know they're saying that, right? They could not have won if it wasn't for me. I am the bigliest man on that field, and I scored every goal by myself. True story. No one helped me. They couldn't have won if I wasn't so great!

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As others have pointed out, he saw Putin steal Robert Kraft's superbowl ring and went "ohhh me too me too"

1 year ago | Likes 85 Dislikes 4

You guys should have beat the fuck out of him. Welp

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Except FIFA gave him the trophy (as a bribe probably). He didn't steal anything

1 year ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

Not sure what to make of this as I know for a fact that here are at least three, identical Premiere League Cups - a top ranking trophy in British football. Each are given equal importance and are seen as the actual PLC wherever they happen to be. So in this case, who actually has the real trophy and are there more? My educated guess is that there is at least one more, identical to the other two.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There are 2 identical English Premier League trophies, one that the league owns and one which the champions keep for the next season. It would be absolutely insane for anyone else to try and claim one. The Club World Cup is a new(ish) competition that most fans outwith Saudi Arabia and the US don't give a shit about, I assume that is how Trump has managed to wrangle himself one of the trophies.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ok, let me amend that. There are at least three that the league owns.. I used to work in the exhibition trade (trade exhibitions, trade fairs, corporate events, etc). Years back, Barclays were refurbishing all of their branches. The big, important branches had BIG promotional events. One of the things they did was have the league cup on a pedestal and people could have their photos taken with it. It was a Saturday event and I asked the head of the security team if he was going to be taking the >

cup to the BBC afterwards to appear on Match of the Day. He let it slip that someone else had already taken it. So now we're looking at two cups. At another event, I overheard him discussing a work colleague and he mentioned that the colleague had been lucky enough to take the cup to Hong Kong for a week. So now we have the cup that I can see, the one at the BBC, and another one in Hong Kong. I mentioned what I heard and he gave me a stern look and told me to keep shtum (or words to that effect)

Soccer sounds cool. Sorry. That said as an american. I think American football should go by the name other parts of the world call it. GridIron. Really sends home the danger and toughness of the sports. (before the rugby players chim in how tough they are.) Yes you don't have protection in rugby. You know why? Because you aren't allowed to tackle nearly as fucking hard as you are in Grid Iron. Also all the players are about the same size. Not true for American Football.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Gridiron? Never heard of that. We call it American football. In germany at least. But I must admit, I never ever saw a game or even know how it works. (I'm not a big fan of normal football either)

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The only sport i ever truely cared for (not putting on an act for relatives on holiday because they care to much about something i don't give a fuck about) was Full Metal Jousting. it got funded they started training the first generation of pros. The even made a TV series out of their training. But it only lasted 2 seasons before the funding got pulled and the sport died. Was amazing to see that we still maintain the european Warhorse linage from medival europe though. Not a ton of them left.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Firstly, I've never heard anyone call American Football "Gridiron". Also, rudby players vary hugely in size the difference between forward and back players is about 50lbs. I also don't know what you mean about "how hard" you can tackle, how would you even measure or police that? It's true that you aren't allowed to drop a player onto their neck after a tackle in rugby, but that's got nothing to do with how hard the tackle is.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Football tackles often involve a more explosive, direct hit, aiming to stop the ball carrier's forward momentum. Like a train hitting a car or another train. You aren't allowed to grab on and hold onto your opponent. You quite literally will get penalized for it. You have to knock them flat on their ass on impact alone.

Rugby tackles often involve wrapping up the ball carrier and bringing them to the ground, distributing the impact force over a larger area. They are allowed to latch on.
