As much as a piece of shit this guy is, this isn't real. First, based on the messages shown, no crime was committed. Creepy, yes, but in order to be arrested for solicitation of a minor, there has to be intent of meeting for a sexual encounter after finding out the other party is a minor. After the other person tells Lang her age, the only text from him shown is asking when she turns 16. She says she can keep a secret and there is no reply. No source for this is given and I can't find anything.

Was there a message asking to meet up to bump ugliest? Nope. And that's what is needed to make a legal case against him. What is shown implies solicitation, but you can't prosecute someone on implication. This is damning for public opinion, but pardons aren't for bad PR. Also, the only source I could find says that this is making the rounds on social media but isn't verified.

There's a reason why on "to catch a predator" they were really careful with their wording when talking to the predator to show that he was there intending for a sexual encounter with a minor. Otherwise, the perv can just pretend to be socially awkward and can't make friends with people his own age. Law requires intent. Intent is shown, not implied.

Ah, thanks for trying to make this into a personal attack. Let me try and make this as clear as a can: I am talking about building and prosecution of a criminal case. Criminal prosecution requires very specific intent and deliberate action. You can imply and be creepy all day, but if that's all there is to go on, then a half decent defense attorney would get that thrown out long before trial. Was arrested, the district attorney felt there was a strong enough case to prosecute, that said prosecution had at l least been started, and that Lang's defense attorney felt that accepting a pardon was the best option to avoid jail. Because here's the thing about pardons, by accepting one, you are admitting guilt (Burdick v. United States), this is why people have rejected presidential pardons before in the past.

Looking over OP’s other posts I don’t see anything else that so blatantly jumps out as being misinformation. Mostly satire or larger news stories that were everywhere at the time.
Plus as mentioned there’s not really any reason to make this up. Everyone who’s gonna hate this guy already does, and sadly it’s not as though pedophilia seems to carry any consequences these days either.

The point of making something up is to spread misinformation. "See, these guys got mad at me for this OBVIOUS lie, THUS, everything they say about me must be a lie" It deliberately muddies the water and dilutes any real facts.
I suppose I jumped the gun calling this misinformation, but until the source is posted it should be deemed untrustworthy at best. Like you said, there are hundreds of easily provable facts that say much the same, so no source should ALWAYS be taken with a grain of salt.
