The whole "$300b rebuilding fund" that the media was too focused on was provisional upon completion of the final agreement, which was never going to happen in the first place.
What Iran did get, however, was immediate waiver of sanctions placed on oil exports and unfrozen assets. That was just to get them to the table to sign the MoU at all, which is hundreds of billions of annual profit alone, and even more now that they know they can just strangle the world's supply chain whenever they like.

However, my concern in this specific use-case is precisely that the pain of destroying this infrastructure will not primarily be a pain to those in this thread advocating it (Americans), but to those already most vulnerable and least culpable. Hoping for the destruction of infrastructure central to fertilizer, and thus food production, for much of Asia/Africa just to increase gas prices in the hope of driving out the GOP is beyond self-entitled.

Except take for example Indonesia. They supply about 50% of the world's nickel (key for batteries), and they depend on Sulfur for nickel extraction, 75% of which they get via Middle East Oil/Gas infrastructure and the Strait.
*Destroy* the infrastructure there and you lose more than 20% of the world's oil/gas. You lose a significant source of: sulfur, helium, feedstocks for fertilizer, etc. That sulfur is also a key ingredient for copper mining, necessary for RE electrification...

I think democracy is great and all, but having everyone allowed to vote make it a easy target for people like trump to manipulate the dumb people, maybe a simple iq test to be allowed to vote would help prevent lunatic from controlling moron into driving the country off a cliff, or make extremely severe law against lying in public position or trying to manipulate people.

I do think politicians should be held liable for lying. I'd like to see a whole separate branch of the judiciary just for that, where citizens can file complaints, make some prima facie showing of likelihood of winning, and then have a mini-trial about it. If the citizen wins, the politician has to reimburse them for their court fees, or have their vote suspended.

Real life is not D&D. There's no universal, objective intelligence score for a human being. There's no single, objective definition of intelligence. The tests are designed by humans, and the things they are measuring and the way they are measuring it are largely arbitrary. A bunch of white people who thought of themselves as smart chose a bunch of skills that they happened to be good at, and measure those things. The biggest giveaway is that you can practice an IQ test to improve your score.

You may only be used to mathematical and spatial IQ tests. A complete IQ test includes questions that require cultural context that you probably don't even notice, but are heavily skewed toward the "majority," as well as specific factual knowledge that makes the score basically scale with the quality of school the test subject went to.

I fully believe that people who refused to mask up during Covid lost some higher brain function.
Over the last several years, I've seen some of my friends and family turn into Fox News type zombies that refuse to even engage with me on an intellectual level. They just get flustered and shut down.
It's been really sad and frustrating for me.

While there definitely is some credible evidence of long-term brain damage from even mild COVID infections, sadly, the braindead Fox News zombie thing has always existed. I lost family to it before COVID, exactly as you describe. It's a propaganda source designed to get people to shut off their higher brain functions and just repeat what they're told and for all of Murdock's many MANY faults, he was damn good at making it work. Garbage-in garbage out has always been a problem. :(
