love animals, fluffy creatures are the best, but damn, meat is delicious too.

Mongolia? Mongolia.

One of the most beautiful places!

That whole video is just an ad for Captain Morgan.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

I had this happen when I was a kid. You get used to it. My cousins and their pet rabbits...not so much.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Growing up in WY, I have nurtured, loved, killed, butchered, and bbqed so many of my animal friends! and every single one was delicious

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Lived in the Texas hill country from 10 to 18; I can confirm that Bambi's mom is delicious.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

You're not an animal lover, you're a pet lover.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Personally I find the butchering process to be very interesting

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

When lab-grown meat becomes cheap enough and indistinguisable enough from 'real' meat, I'll be more than happy to make the switch.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Would you cut down? It isn't all or nothing

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

True, and to begin with I expect that, say, ground meat would be easier to get right, so that's probably the first to go.

I took care of bootle lambs for a while, but I would have relapses "You're such a cute baby. You're going to be delicious when you grow up"

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Too many think that meat magically appears at the supermarket.

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Covered in cellophane.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yep, animals are both adorable and delicious. I love them and love eating them. The duality is weird sometimes.

9 years ago | Likes 202 Dislikes 10

When one becomes two, problems can arise.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

It's called cognitive dissonance. Two ideas or believes that seem to contradict each other. Smokers are a good example of this: 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 3

They know it's killing them and their back accounts, but still buy packs. Also it's the reason I'm on imgur at 2:15 am

Like women.

9 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 2

Ayo!

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

That comment tries so hard it must be written by a heterosexual man. Nothing is gayer than a heterosexual man.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

As a heterosexual man, I have numerous reasons to be gay.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

But you can't eat women...

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That's where you're wrong, kiddo. *fingerguns*

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We had chickens when we were kids. We enjoyed chasing them around for a few years, and then we enjoyed them as chicken soup.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

And that's why we don't name the ones we're going to eat later.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Sheep are safe from me. I hate the taste of lamb. (tho not as badly as I hate liver)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I once ate a turkey named Pedro... I'm a vegetarian now. The two are not related- Pedro was delicious.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

My grandpa owns a farm. When he takes cows, lambs, and such to the butcher, he puts their names on the packages of meat he gets back.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Gotta love LifeAccordingToJimmy, one of my favorite Youtube Channels. Check him out if you want to laugh.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

Not to mention if you say you're bothered by the way meat animals are treated, people actually get angry and accuse you of being vegan

People Eating Tasty Animals

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I've watched lambs being butchered. Pass the mint jelly.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

For many years people asked me, an animal lover, why I wasn't vegetarian. I said because there isn't a single damn pet I have that is 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

vegetarian. Then I fell in love with a freaking chinchilla. Dangit, Foof! You ruined my excuse!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Neighbors would name their cows "Hamburger" and things like that.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Don't name food.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's where the phase "Don't play with your food" came from. It is a lot easier to eat an animal if you haven't played fetch with it first

9 years ago | Likes 709 Dislikes 16

That's rule #2, rule #1 is don't ever give them a name.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Grew up on a farm, named our calves after Disney characters. Labeled steaks with name. Grumpy was delicious

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

But the betrayal makes the meat taste so much sweeter

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Dad wouldn't let us name the animals, they were all 'Dinner'

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

While I can't find anything that disproves this, I can't find anything that supports this idea either so i will remain skeptic.

9 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 2

As a man who raises meat rabbits, names and cuddles them, you just need to be hungry

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Oh dear christ, is that true...

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Insert the bloody hammer gif from American Gods.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

i always just heard "don't name it"

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

My families cow's are named chuck (beef) , hamburguesa, and so on.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Although that makes sense, I don't believe you.

9 years ago | Likes 257 Dislikes 5

Gabriel García Márquez wrote something about that in one of his books

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My sister has a bunch of cows, they're super friendly, we play with them. We still eat them.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's what my parents said, too. You should have seen their faces when I proved them wrong.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

My Angus steer played fetch, and would jump around playfully. Named him Dinner so there was no confusion, but was still hard to eat him.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He was delicious and we had to butcher him because he was a 1000 lb animal who tried to play like a puppy, was getting dangerous.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Says you, my dog scip was delish

9 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 1

You good Asian.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Ol' Yeller didn't have rabies, there was just a drought on the farm that year

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Was your dog named "scip" or is "scip" supposed to be how you prepared the dog meat. Either way thats the first time ive seen the word scip

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I am a heavy meat-eater, and I personally think that people should visit a slaughterhouse to see how things are done. 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

If you still feel it's okay to eat meat after that, then have at it. I was willing to accept the process, and thus I eat meat. 2/2

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

It's also very fascinating the whole "no part of the animal is wasted" philosophy at most slaughterhouses

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dad is a butcher. I'd walk in the freezers and see the cow carcasses. Early in life I understood and respected what cows provided for us.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I think it's more important to see the slaughtering than the butchering. Preferably in the manner of the source you typically purchase from.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've killed and cleaned fish and poultry myself, and I've seen the slauther and partering of sheep. I also visited a slaughterhouse...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

...as part of a school project where we interviewed a butcher. I'm satisfied that we're doing what we can to minimize suffering.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I saw my dad butcher our rooster, clean dove and fish. It's sad for most but you realize how much you value the life they gave.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As long as someone can be real about eating meat, a'ight. Don't be an asshole vegan or a jerk meat-eater and we're cool lol. I'm veg myself.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Just because you want to eat it doesn't mean you want to watch it die. They aren't mutually inclusive.

9 years ago | Likes 71 Dislikes 9

Yes. I want to see all ticks die, but I dont want to eat them.

9 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 1

I think you should be aware of the process though. I don't enjoy killing animals but my family raised stock and it's a part of the process.

9 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 1

Everyone who eats meat should participate in the killing shins cleaning of an animal for food preparation at least once. It teaches (1)

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

respect for the relative scarcity of food, specially protein, and the sacrifices made throughout the food chain to nourish all life (2)

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Have the respect to understand that the animal is going to die for you, treat them well while they are alive, make their death a quick and

9 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

Relatively painless one and don't waste what you get from them.

9 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

100% to all the everything you just said.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

That said, i believe you should force yourself to watch an animal be killed for food if you get the chance. 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 10

If you cant face the harsh truth you shouldn't eat meat. 2/2

9 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 12

Agreed, to a point. I'm not going to force my toddler to watch chickens being slaughtered before letting her eat chicken nuggets. At the -->

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

same time, does 'facing it' really mean watching it? I accept the realities of all kinds of things I don't need to physically witness.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 3

oh yeh, no need to make a toddler do it but you get what i mean. Watching it is a effective way of really understanding what is going on,

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

What if I'm a vegetarian that just loves killing animals?

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You may be a psychopath and should probably see a mental health professional about that

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Had a rabbit that grew to be very fat. When he died I just couldn't pass up the opportunity for a delicious stew. Felt so wrong but so right

9 years ago | Likes 184 Dislikes 23

Did you poop him out in little pellets afterward?

9 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 1

Felt the same way about my dad.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

He would have wanted it this way.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Rabbits are great food for food and leather. Though, rabbit pelts are better for decoration since they fall apart rather easy.

9 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 2

But don't forget that eating nothing but rabbit is lethal.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

That's primarily game rabbit. Farm raised rabbits would probably be fine.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yeah, they prolly get fatty enough.
