Cigarettes, lighters, singular keys, chapstick etc. Are the usual finds on my searchers. Also, this guy clearly crotched the lighter.

Even if the kid took off the cuffs, he shouldn't be able to get out. Right? Overreaction by the officer?
jimjam2
opkraut just made up what he imagined happened. He should be ignored
Bootsy81
American police never overreact. Their reactions are always completely appropriate.

Then what happened
THR333
source in other comment says the cause is under investigation so who knows (this happened a year ago)
YepImTheToaster
The car crashed.
byobob
Shouldn't be able to get out, but what if he started a fire or had pepper spray or even a knife? Not sure but still an overreaction I think.

You know what, then again, I would also imagine they'd take his lighter away so maybe I'm off the mark here.
byobob
Yeah who knows, something is obviously wrong here on the officer's part.
IronicUsername
I'd imagine he was searched for weapons before being taken into custody. I'd also imaging those things aren't stored in the back seat.

Well, that lighter didn't just appear out of thin air. Whoopsee
