Huh, I thought he was my age, not 10 years younger than me. Alcoholism is rough.

Struggling with 60kg. Yeah, this is first timer shit. I don't even remember the last time I saw a dude struggle with that.

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

He wants to big a Big Scary Army Boy SO fucking badly. It's comically pathetic.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

you need to get some tips from Putin. He knows more about staging this crap than you do

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not to defend the guy but we have no idea what went on before. If you only film and post someone's very last rep it's not going to make them look good.

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I read on a different post that this was the end of like 25 or 30. I also don't like this guy and there's plenty to hate him for but this isn't one of them.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Those are NOT heavy dumbbells.

1 month ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Are those 45lbs plates? So that's 135lbs. What a puss.

1 month ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Looks like 35s

Fucking gi joke just trying to cosplay as a serviceman. Cunt...

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

show him doing the chinups - what a friggin joke

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

What I wouldn't give to spot for him...oops.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Toxic masculinity. He is desperate to prove he fits the archetype you see in violent anti-heroes. That is what is driving policy right now, a Hollywood power fantasy meant to appeal to insecure teenage boys.

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I knew his arms were decorative muscles, but holy shit, look at his tiny little legs!

1 month ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

slim jim legs lol

1 month ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I’m a 41 year old woman and I can bench press more than that. I just did today.

Fucking stupid spotter

1 month ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

No kinda about it

1 month ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

You know, maxing out at 135 on bench is respectable for his age, which is ... WHAT THE FUCK 46???! lol that's me and I can hit 180 and I'm a twink

1 month ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Thought he was like 50-55

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Damn we were so close to having that just drop on his chest and end it all. I hope one day he's really put in the front lines and we get to see him shit his brains out at what it really takes to be a member of the American armed forces.

1 month ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Every time I’ve seen this dude exercise it looks like he’s purposefully mocking someone who doesn’t know how to exercise.

1 month ago | Likes 672 Dislikes 2

Himself?

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Because silicone chest implants don’t help your bench numbers? Those are, what, 50lbs weights? Someone “built” like him should struggle with 100 lb bench. I did that in middle school. (Not bragging. I was a huge bitch)

1 month ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'm definitely not a gym rat and I'll die before my time because of my bad posture and health and shitty life habits but even I'm pretty sure that's not how you hold dumbbells?

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

if I see any other SecDef do this, I'd think it was to highlight how hard the people around them are working by not being able to keep up. With this one though, I know he's doing it because he thinks it looks cool.

1 month ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

Cheer him on ! Until he fucking strokes out

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He's an alcoholic weekend fox news anchor with white nationalist tattoos because he's a soft man baby. Being secdef doesn't change any of that

1 month ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

He has a fucking make up room...

1 month ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

1 month ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Hahahaha

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

he doesn't know good form and then on top of that it looks worse because hes trying to do do beyond what he is capable

1 month ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 0

In my experience, first thing that happens when you just run out is that, if you force yourself to keep going, your form drops, because it's all you have the strength for.

But then, the only videos I've seen of this guy are when he was exhausted, I haven't seen him picking up and starting the first rep. Certainly every attempt could be bad. It wouldn't surprise me.

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

His body is just like his brain
Weak and incapable

1 month ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

He posted multiple videos of him benching 315.

How someone could do that but not be able to do other lifts is interesting.

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Anything is possible through the power of editing

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Or fake weights.

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I saw the videos - didnt look fake.

Some people are just really gifted bench pressers. At 55 years old and 170 pounds, my dad was able to bench 225 for 10 or 12 reps any day of the week.

However, I doubt he could’ve squatted 250 to save his life lol

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That seems fair. The last time I went to the gym for an assessment, I could leg press over 400 lbs easy, but I couldn't bench press more than 100

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Its because he isn't sweating out sweat, he's sweating out alcohol and can't keep up with even a 5th grader.

1 month ago | Likes 120 Dislikes 0

And from his perspective that alcohol lost to sweat is huge sacrifice he is making for his country.

1 month ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I came here to say this.
He has obvious muscle wasting from his severe alcoholism.

His shoulders were giving in during the chest press.
His wrists went limp and rolled outward freely under the weight of the dumbbells.

That is not a ton of weight for a man his size with military training.
That kind of muscle takes a long time to fade, even with a sedentary lifestyle.

Let's not give him a wake up call tho.
I'm rooting for the alcohol to completely ruin his body lol

1 month ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

I am disabled for the last 15 years... I could lift those over my head... like holy shit the man could be killed by a strong gust of wind my god.

1 month ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

yeah, like i did stop manual labor some 9 years ago, and today without any training whatsoever, i still can do the stuff i did prior for 20 years (construction iron worker, when i wasn't UN peace keeper in various countries)

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Before I make fun, how much weight is that?

1 month ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I'm not sure how much exactly, but one plate on each side means it's not NEARLY heavy enough for anyone even moderately in shape to be struggling like that

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

My bench sucks, and I can still do 135 like nothing.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I worked out for years to be able to bench 100...

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hopefully you haven't made "being a macho piece of shit" your whole personality and you're good :p

Bench has always been my weakest especially after I fucked up my shoulder doing it. And now I don't lift at all. But I'll still make fun of him :p

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Quite the opposite, I became a woman. :) Hegseth deserves every jeer thrown at gim, no doubt about that.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh god no lol I am a lazy shit. My point was tgat doesn't look like enough weight to struggle with, but I dont work out so I didn't want to make fun without a number.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Benchpress - Blue plates on a bar generally signifies 45lbs each. Bar is supposedly 60lbs (which seems absurdly high for a bar, but I'll trust the "how to prepare for army fitness tests" site #s (https://gym-mikolo.com/blogs/home-gym/how-much-does-the-army-acft-hex-bar-weigh). So a total of 150lbs. Which is...not impressive. Even as a fat out of shape dude.

1 month ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I am fat, but strong. I think i could do 150 with less trouble then that.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Standard barbell is 45 pounds. You're looking at the description of a hex bar, which is heavier because it's a different structure.

1 month ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Hand Weights - Basically impossible to tell. You can get 5lb ones that look like that, or 50lb. Unlikely to be above 50. Best guess would be ~30lbs. Regardless, he should be using lighter ones. His form is atrocious and he needs to learn that before even trying to use heavier weights.

Nobody is supposed to care if the secretary of defense can lift weights. Its purely performative because hes a vain idiot trying to impress and control the brainwashed masses that are all so far gone they dont understand the disconnect between being in an office designed for national security and defense, and being able to lift 150 pounds laying down. Eveything about this country is a joke. I bet another country wipes america out and we deserve it at this point. Guess ill learn chinese.

1 month ago | Likes 269 Dislikes 2

Honestly...I'm literally on medication that makes me physically weaker. I live a mostly sedentary life. I can at least LIFT 150lbs in a bench press, even if I can only do sets of 1 or 2.

Kegsbreath is in worse shape than a sedentary person taking medication that actively harms their strength. That's not an indicator of good health on his part.

1 month ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Yeah, but it's so great that he is so fucking bad at it when he attempts to perform it. I mean, it's remarkably pathetic BECAUSE of the contrast with his cartoonish affected macho and hawkishness.

1 month ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Except we won't just go quietly. We're dragging the entire world down with us. And 1/3 of the people in this country are braying themselves hoarse supporting it all. And nobody seems to be ready for the uncomfortable action required to avert absolute catastrophe, so we'll all just watch it happen.

1 month ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The Chinese will not be invading America. BUT, they will invade Taiwan and the USA will do nothing... particularly since we pulled key forces from there and sent them to Iran.

You could say Trump is an idiot. But it's no doubt an arranged grift with Xi. US companies get to sell in China, China gets to have Taiwan.

1 month ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Uh, talk about not getting it. Hegseth's amazing physical strength is the only thing preventing Iran from nuking America.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Our sec defs last job was a weekend assistant game show host on basic cable.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I actually disagree.
I think if you are going to have the say in if we go to war,you have to show you are fit enough to be on the battlefield and also willing to risk having loved 1s drafted without say of where they are stationed.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't disagree, but the fact that he's posturing like that and can't even do THAT right is still noteworthy

1 month ago | Likes 55 Dislikes 1

none of this is noteworthy you are all fuckin stooges.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 14

A lot of these folks are braying cowards who turn into mewling quims the moment anyone remotely intimidating gets in front of them. I wonder what would happen if some place that did real journalism went over to a local gym, found some utterly yoked 6'7" guy named Jim McLarge, and gave him a press pass, a microphone, and a license to take the piss out of these guys with their questions. Even just towering over the guy and going "Has anyone ever told you you're a moron to your face?"

1 month ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

For fuck's sake, I'm 50 in a few months, haven't trained since I was 20, and still can manage more than that, without problems.
That man's a sack of shame...

The Ukraine war has shown the world that the Russian military is pretty much a farce. The US President and his Iranian war are now showing the world the same thing about the US.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

The Iranian war hasn't been much of a war. We still don't have boots on the ground. If indiscriminate killing of civilians wasn't a war crime and frowned upon by pretty much everyone we could probably demolish the country and turn it into a giant parking lot for all the new oil refineries we will build atop the corpses

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That sounds horrific

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It really hasn't, the US military has once again proven to be extremely competent. The war in Iran does show that air power alone cannot achieve anything beyond "blow something up", larger political outcomes need an actually army to be deployed for them to be achieved.

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The leader of the entire country shits his pants on a regular basis and falls asleep in meetings. The guy he put in charge of the military has made it the weakest the US military has been in 50 years by firing highly-trained personnel and putting idiots in charge.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yeah, and it remains the most effective military in the world. There will be problems in the future, but for now it's got good old institutional inertia behind it

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hate to say it but a quick ai stayed its 300lbs* it def looks less but I don’t lift so idk tbh b

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 13

DON'T RELY ON AI

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was mistaken. Turns out it was his 44th rep in 135. I’m not a fan of Pete or trump just like to be objective.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That’s 135. Two 45 Lb plates and a 45 Lb bar.

1 month ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I was mistaken. Turns out it was his 44th rep in 135. I’m not a fan of Pete or trump just like to be objective.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well your first problem was getting AI to tell you anything. Your second is not realizing that bar is probably around 10 pounds so there's no way those four weights are around 75 pounds each.

1 month ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I was mistaken. Turns out it was his 44th rep in 135. I’m not a fan of Pete or trump just like to be objective.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fyi, bar is 45. Agree with everything else

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Fair enough, looks like one I used to use which was 10.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Take that Marines shirt off, you white trash fuckin wannabe.

1 month ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

As a retired Marine. Fuck this piece of shit

1 month ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Give ‘em one!

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When I saw this, I was like "Why is a former soldier wearing Marine gear?" wearing other branches' gear feels... dirty.

1 month ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

He already disgraced Army uniform, now he has to give equal time to everyone else. Probably will skip Coast Guard.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I got an extra pouch for my plate carrier at Camp Leatherneck to hold stuff for my bomb dog when I arrived before punching out to Garmsir, and spent the next 8 months getting roasted because it was that grey army camo (all they had at the PX somehow) instead of coyote tan.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It's like Terry Pratchett's dwarfs from Discworld "You... want me to use another dwarfs tools? GROOOOOSSS!!" As former Army, the idea of putting on a Marine shirt just leaves a bad taste in my mouth, and I'm pretty sure it's the same across services. That's not /your/ gear. It just seems icky.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hey, I was at the British side of Leatherneck, Camp Bastion, in 2012 right after the raid by the taliban

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Cheers! I was only there for a few days when we landed in early October 2010. Flew back stateside from Camp Dwyer last week of May 2011.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Was he struggling with 135?

1 month ago | Likes 74 Dislikes 2

I think this is at the fag end of the session. The guy is physically capable, but that isn't really what's required for the job description.

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 10

Wait so that video of him benching 315 was fake weights? Who would have thought (hint, literally every person who's ever benched)

1 month ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

It was AI "enhanced."

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I can make you struggle with just a bar and 6lbs dumbells. This could be a cutout of last round and last reps. On that note I wish he had failure and bar dropped on his adams apple.

1 month ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Are those even full plates?

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Downvoted for an honest question. No wonder people are tired of this site.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Imagine needing a spot for 135 😂

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He was struggling with 10lb dumbell presses

1 month ago | Likes 63 Dislikes 1

I don't work out and I'm sure my form was terrible, but I just did 20 reps with each arm with a 25-pound weight.

1 month ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

A handle of whiskey in each hand would have been more in his comfort zone

1 month ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Not full extension, doesn't count.

1 month ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

Fuck I'd pay to see a drill instructor react to that.

1 month ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

[Hegseth doing push-ups]
[drill instructor] "0. 0. 0. 0. 0."

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He wasn't struggling, "struggling" implies an attempt was made

1 month ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I struggle with 70. Am I contemptible?

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 7

This is all you could come up with...?

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Did you go on TV a few months ago talking about how you can do 350 casually, then use AI to generate a video of yourself doing so while claiming it could have been 550 but you didn't want the army guys to feel bad, then actually get caught doing this?

Because if you did all that then yes, you are contemptible. Not for the last bit but for everything you did leading up to it now laid bare by that last bit.

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I don’t even lift bro

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

How many Iranian kids have you murdered? Think next time, it'll save us all time and effort

1 month ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Only if your whole personality revolves around belittling people for how weak and unmanly they are. The schadenfreude is acceptable in those cases.

1 month ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 1

I haven't been on a bench in almost 30 years but I'm still pretty sure I could put that up. Was that like his 10th rep or something?

1 month ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

still looks like he is flopping around like a fish out of water on the bench...

1 month ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Yeah that body position on the bench screams "I've never used a bench"

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm gonna have to go try tomorrow. Pretty confident I'll do better than that. After 10 years of not lifting consistently I'm inspired by this asshat to get back into it now that I'm careening over the hill

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

As much as this man is a piece of shit it could have been his 100th rep. People have walked in on me in tears lifting 5kg after doing drop sets from 200 and for many new gym bros this is a decent starting weight and shouldn't be shamed. .

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

My thought too, but his form on the dumbells is so shit. Like if you can't lift it correctly, you can't lift it. Your set is done.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

totally but it's still funny because this was just a publicity stunt. If you can do 10 only do 5 for the camera.

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Not defending but he does 40ish halfass reps. This isn't a flex by him but its not the gotcha people want really.

1 month ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 15

You know the score for 40 half ass reps? Its 0. Zero.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why would you do 40 reps at 135? The standard set is 10, if you're really doing it for strength with low weights it might be 20. You don't flex your bench press rep with 40 reps, you flex your bench press rep with your one rep max. If you're going to flex your rep with a chest exercise at max repetitions, do pushups.

1 month ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

You are correct that 40 is a very unusual number of reps to do on a flat bench press… but the standard set is not 10. Sets for 20 would also be very unusual to do for flat bench. The most common rep range for flat bench is 3-5, with 8 also not being uncommon. 10 and 12 less common again. 20 is silly. 40 is just stupid.
