For a modern singer, she isn't horrible. No heavy distortion on the voice for her songs, but the songs are pretty flat. It just sort of stays in the same register all the way through. Making it sound like any singer could do it.

Me neither. Tho I have the excuse of being old enough that I have reached that stage where "New Releases" 95% of the time are uninteresting to me. The last 5 years or so I have completely lost track of celebrities younger than 40, basically, and I just find new music comes in three categories: Stuff I outright don't like, Stuff that is boring, and stuff that sounds just like old stuff.
