If you do have to do this I suggest twisting two coat hangers together for additional stability, and give yourself two different hooks at two different levels.
A lot of European cars have been designed so you have to lock them from outside with a key since about forever. I had a Mk1 Rabbit and a SAAB 900 that needed to be locked from the outside with the key. Pushing down the inside lock button and closing the door from the outside, as was customary on American cars for a long time, didn't work.
Now tell me... did this mean that because of the laws of physics in Toon Town... he literally couldn't do it? Or like, he was waiting to do it until it was funny?
And this, people, is a prime example of our world famous "accent du Sud-Ouest",which is like what would happen to the French language if it tried to climb the Pyrenees in flip-flops, fell and tumbled all the way down.
Certainly. I only count accents from metropolitan France, otherwise I imagine most Canadian French or African French language countries accents could run for the crown ^^
Not to be a Debra downer but to me the most obvious part of this being fake is his awful attempts at hooking the keys and "accidentally" knocking them in the cup holder. I don't care how many times he says he's trying
Except some fathers are dumb as shit like mine. I've seen him try to nail a 4 foot long 2x4 to an awning projecting out-over his deck so it's like 2 feet out. He didn't use a clamp to secure the 2x4. He didnt separately but the nail until it was all the way through the 2x4 before placing it where he wanted it so he is standing on the railing trying to hold a loose nail, a loose 2x4 while he hammered it into place. I never heard a man say "god damn it" more times in my life. It was painful
Don't these fobs usually keep you from locking the door it senses it's still in the car? Lol. Jokes on Dad for not knowing how they work and besides how were they gonna get it through the little window crack. LMAO
It was convoluted but I locked myself out by putting the key in my trunk before unlocking the doors. The car sensed my key to let me open the trunk, but then reminded me only after I closed the lid. It wasn't so bad because I had an app to unlock it but I didn't like paying 45/mo on a car I "owned" so I made a dumb key and keep it in my wallet now.
Not all vehicles that use fobs are connected vehicles (with a way to communicate via internet or proprietary wireless network). There's also subscription fees, so if you stop paying, you stop having access.
Fun fact: One of the first vehicles with a transponder fob, the Pontiac Trans Am, had a feature that if you managed to lock the car with the fob inside, just shaking the car would cause it to unlock. I learned this at an auto show, and a short time later the Daytona 500 Pace Car was the Trans Am, and right before the race they 'locked the keys in the car'. I was screaming at my screen "SHAKE THE CAR!"
Now I'm imagining a Kia Soul with the personality of a Mexican mama getting ready to pull off the chancla after someone tries to leave a key fob in her apron.
BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!! - My Niro, everytime I walk away with the key in my pocket while its still running as I invariably forgot something in the house.
Story time : when I was 17 my friend set me up on a date. With the caveat that I give them a ride somewhere. I didn't know the area so they said they would drive back with me which never happened and locked my keys in the car. I was over an hour and a half from home before GPS. Had to call my parents my dad gets there doesn't say one word to me walks up to the driver side wheel well grabs a hide a key (didn't know) tosses it to me and just says follow me.
the trick is have him try on the other side first with a locked door then have him pass it across then fail fail fail and he'll come around and take it and try more without tests
I literally locked my keys in the car when I first started driving 7 times. I now get a spider instinct. On one occasion I was at a walmart and had no wire so I walked inside and went to the tool aisle and they had wire so I borrowed a piece because I didn't need a spool. I would have given it back but imagine you're the employee there and you explain what I did,"man I work at walmart get out of here I don't care."
I worked IT for too long to not first check if the person is stupid. "Did you press the power button" "I did." "Can you hold down the power button" "...it turned on"
It's like the old Polish joke where he locked his family in the car by accident and the car is a convertible with the top down and you have to hurry because its about to rain and they'll drown!
I remember when I was like in elementary school, our group of shithead friends bought a joke book from 7-11. It was full of some vile ass jokes. First exposure to dead baby jokes. But one of the largest joke sections was about polish people. They had the convertible joke as well but we were just white kids in California. We had absolutely no idea what polish people were like. Never met any. It was just bizarre.
Ohhhhh boy yeah, the "joke book" I got from the school scholastic book order was full of stuff that would be considered quite racist now, and should have been back then even. Weird times. All of my Polish jokes came from my high school GF's Dad. Polish family and he "collected" Polish jokes.
Actual Polish joke from the communist era, told in parts: a car is stopped by the police after crossing a bridge. "Citizen, yours is the millionth car to cross The Bridge of Peace and Friendship Between Communist Peoples. You have won a thousand złoty, congratulations! What will you do with the money?" Driver goes, "I'm gonna pay for a driver's license." 1)
So many could be formated as dumb blonde jokes but some were just completely crazy but yeah I had noooo idea that poles were considered dumb or even what they were. What was even extra weird was that it didn't have any other section for nationalities like say with Irish people being drunks or something. The only nationality it talked about Poland. Lmao weirdest thing.
It believe later editions of these books replaced specific groups of people with "moron." I assumed the reader would then put in their own group to make fun of, but don't quote me on that, I don't have a source. I just remember seeing a joke book full of morons, and I had not heard of that word, wasn't used in my family.

squishybaker
As much as new cars suck, I like that I can open the car with my phone.
RubbleTrouser
How do you lock your remote fob inside the car?
noReallyIamPrincessBob
Yeah, like you can find a wire hanger anymore.

Knew it.

I’ve don’t that before. Hooked some keys with a coat hanger. That’s legit.
IndependenceHallPhiladelphiaPA
did you also tell him you locked your phone in your car with the camera recording the window?

Put a piece of heavy duty tape on the window and you can push the window down with it

Absolutely nothing! But some of our local accents can be very strong and this... is a great illustration.

Canadian French is not understandable in France. They must film movies using subtitles.

No way dad didn’t try that door handle first. Dads know their kids are idiots.

at least with my Subaru i can use the app to unlock the doors if that ever happened to me. But that's pretty unlucky fluke for sure.
dirtmarker
I don't care that it's staged. It's pretty good.
notmyrealface
People are shocked to learn SNL is staged, too. People hate being tricked by their assumptions.
Colopty
A problem that would be easily solved if people were willing to update their priors.

I was expecting the camera person to re-place it from an obvious open door.

I thought he would go in through one of the back doors.

Modern cars have apps that one can unlock the car. Even start the car to pre-cobdition it

Or he could just walk around to the open door that the person filming is leaning in through on the other side of the car!
If you look at where the camera must be you’ll know this is just performance.

Basic troubleshooting. Start with the most obvious and work your way from there.

If I told my dad I’d locked the door, he’d try it just because he’d trust me that little.
