Local cash assistance sent my roommate the same forms 5 times by mail, refusing to allow online entry, regardless of how she filled them. We've been near starving for months. Benefits are intentionally exceptionally difficult to get

Unlike tax credits for the rich and secret slush funds and corporate welfare, they actually do check and verify you have kids and how much money you make.

3 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

But is this hurting brown people?

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fucking. Ridiculous.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I work in social welfare in my country and yup, we DO take your word for it, we ask for information on your savings and stuff like that, but generally, there is a presumption of honesty.
The reason for this is 1. We dont care about your savings unless you have over €20,000.
2. It is a waste of our time and energy to investigate every case when most people are honest
3. Every barrier to a payment affects the most vulnerable people the worst.

Being on social welfare sucks, don't make it worse.

This looks like a moment of pure tranquility.

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I think he meant the way welfare works for corporations. I'd be surprised if there was even a handful of people getting support for kids they don't even have.

You don't hear the word pantywaist much anymore.

But you do hear reptilian scumbag a bit...

One of the reasons for Stephen Miller enacting a genocide on Latine people is because his college girlfriend, who was Latine, rejected him and was embarrassed to be seen with him.

That's his pathetic villain origin story. Like so many of the worst humans he's desperate for power and revenge.

It's always the thin-skinned little boys whose big feelings get hurt that end up causing the worst shit

3 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

I thought miller was a homosexual. Might be thiel, I'm always getting those two worms confused.

3 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It's Thiel who's gay, but i also wouldn't be surprised if Miller's closeted like 90% of these MAGAs

3 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm sure it happened even earlier, aren't there highschool classmates of him saying he was always trying his best to be edgy and contrarian, just to trigger everyone around him?

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

There's literal video of it, iirc

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He thinks the way he just get millions by asking or them is how welfare programs work for the poor...

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Total bs.

3 months ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Yep entirely not true. As a former employee of the Dept. of Health Services in WI, during which my job was intake for the healthcare and foodshare programs, believe me we absolutely checked on that shit. If there were children on your account we required proof that they were living with you in your household as their primary residence.

All the bastards do is lie

3 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Hes really just a nasty, vile, hate filled little goblin

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Things with trump's health must be dire if miller is being forced to go out instead of hiding all day in military bases.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Prepare for this to be another new talking point on dipshit media...

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Name those states, liar.

I don't know if I've ever heard him speak an honestly true sentence.

That scumbag is still Temu Goebbels to me.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This explains so much about why they are so obsessed with all these various safety net type programs.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Most places = Not Sweden, we require extracts from all your bank accounts back a couple of months and various other proof of actually not having any income.

3 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Spoken like a true moron that has no idea how being in poverty is.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nope... that's how corporate welfare works. You claim you need money to stay in business and then you take a congressman out to dinner, give your cousin a multi-million dollar house to sell to him for a 100k, or you hook them up with a super cheap loan they never have to pay back... then the government gives you billions in support and nobody ever checks what you did with the money. The PPE scams were pretty interesting, millions handed out to trump cronies with no questions.

Hey Steve, I just spent 4 hours re-applying for SNAP this weekend. As I have to do 3 times a year in Florida. All for the privilege of $18 dollars a month.
Fuck You

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's absolutely not true, but it should be true.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Right wingers live in a fantasy world of hypothetical bullshit.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And the MAGA(t) base that is on Welfare will believe this even if the results mean they lose their benefits. As long as it screws those Democrat thieves and the illegal immigrants that are stealing their jerbs.

3 months ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 2

They'll believe it even after having to go through the hassle to get on it in the first place first-hand. Anyone who's on any form of welfare knows what a fucking struggle it is to do so.

But these assholes are giving MAGAts the freedom to be racist, fascist, misogynistic pieces of shit, so they can do no wrong, and anything they say and want to do is A-OK as long as they get to keep being hateful cunts.

3 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

They'll get pissed off if they lose their benefits, cuz it only matters if it affects them, but it won't make them vote for anyone that doesn't have that R next to their name. And somehow, it'll be the Democrats fault (or Biden, Obama, Soros, ) despite the GOP being in control of everything...

3 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

You'd also be surprised how many conservatives who are on welfare straight up deny that what they're on is welfare. Any sort of government subsidized benefit based on income is under the umbrella term for welfare and yet there are many out there that think that their benefits, for some reason, don't count. And they'd argue until they're blue in the face that it isn't the same.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I am not surprised at all,I have a neighbor and a family member who both receive Snap and both have said"I get Snap NOT Welfare". I can't fix stupid. I have tried.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yup. I can't tell you how many times I've heard people say they get Medicare not Obamacare. Or that the special program that gets them cheaper utilities doesn't count because it's through the electric company.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Medicare although a Welfare technically we pay for that directly with a specific deduction on your payroll at 1.45 percent of earned income(FICA). It is kinda like paying for your Health Insurance ahead of time by years. Same goes for Social Security.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You're correct. I meant medicaid, but the point so stands. A lot of the conservatives that are against welfare deny the fact that they receive welfare benefits under a different name.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My parents were bitching about the paid medical leave law that went into effect this year in MN, less than 3 months later my mom was applying for it because she needed hand surgery.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I just applied for SNAP. They verify birthdates, social security numbers, and assets. They know who works, and for how much. It's not that easy, buddy. There aren't any checks. Just a debit card you can only use for food

3 months ago | Likes 234 Dislikes 1

Also the administration costs of using things like "food stamps" mean more money goes to administration then actual poor people.

3 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Whaaaaaaaaaaat? Are you saying that Miller is lying? How dare you! /S

3 months ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 0

I know crazy. Stand up guy

3 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My mother in law has snap l and just had her benefits cut from $240 a month to $50. She's on social security and can barely get by on her own.

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And, as an employer, if one of my employees is getting SNAP benefits, they regularly check in with me to verify their earnings and whether or not we've offered them more hours that they declined.

3 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

They don't care if their BS is true. The MAGAtts eat it up, regardless.

3 months ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

In this particular case, I can't see why, given most of them have experience with the "welfare" "system"

3 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I live in a very permissive state for SNAP and had it during a recent unemployment period. They most definitely do a background check on everything, particularly income. They docked us because my son has a part-time job, so his income counted, small as it was. They also verify that everyone you claim actually does live with you.

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Basically the experience is similar to going to the DMV. Which everyone loves, right?

3 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

And it apparently is the most unsecure debit card out there. My community has had a rash of hacked cards. I’m in Western PA and know of at least a dozen families whose cards had zero balances within minutes of the cards being credited with their monthly benefits. They all showed that they got cleaned out at a deli in NYC. No reimbursement available. Just advised to change their PIN an hour or so before they expect to have benefits credited. The cards could be made more secure with a chip.

He's describing his own experience asking billionaires to fund his evil schemes...

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Every homeless person I know just got their food stamps reduced to 3 months within a 3 year period unless they work or go to school 20+ hours a week

3 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yup. Got the notification today.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Assuming you're in California, try telling them you're housed. You won't be able to get hot food anymore but evidently the restriction doesn't apply if you're "housed"

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

lol I think in all western countries they are pretty assholeish about ' verifying' anything and everything, to the degree that they will flat out deny you without 100% 5x sources of the same info as proof. Ya they don't ever just 'oh need help, well here ya go' - heck most income support programs spend a VAST amount of resources hunting for possible 'scammers' working the system that MANY, and I mean MANY people get cut off who are innocent and who REALLY need the help.

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

(as in once cut off they lose home, car, and go deep into debt, and then they MIGHT Help again but not without so much more of the above level of 'verify' shit, it is NOT easy to get help, most often the effort needed to get help is more than working an actual job, due to PART of this process requiring you to show u are actively hunting for work, ALONG SIDE all the other running around they require from you. the entire system is cruel and that is the point.)

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Disability is rigged to repeatedly deny you until you get lawyers. You go broke and in debt for a few years before anything clears. Even with multiple sources of explicit doctor documentation supporting you. It’s kind of sick.

By the time you get it, zero emergency funds left.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And only certain foods. Heaven forbid someone getting assistance buy something already hot or a soda. Just because someone needs assistance doesn't mean they shouldn't have less access to food (at a grocery store, I'm not talking restaurants) than someone that doesn't. Not to mention the income level to get that assistance is very low and if you happen to make even $1 more you lose it then you get to choose food or rent or medicine.

3 months ago | Likes 71 Dislikes 1

Yep.

3 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I mean max income/income ceiling, not income level. It was 20 odd years ago, but my wife and I made a combined $14/hr, with no kids, and couldn't get assistance beyond the "here's 3 months of emergency support" (I'm pretty sure we were lucky to get that) because we made too much. Mind you, that amount of income allowed us to either pay rent in a given month OR eat and pay bills.

Thankfully things have improved dramatically for my family, but we're still just a paycheck or two away from being on the street with the way companies like to lay people off to increase share prices :/

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fuck, here in Norway you get your rent paid directly and *cash* for other expenses, they don't even check what those expenses are. They already have your national ID number, you need one to apply, and the only other thing they ask for is a printout of the last 3 months of bank activity. They'll also help with looking for work or applying for disability or what have you.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Which is the way it should be. But those of us in the US have an oligarchy that only gives a shit about making as much money move into their pockets as possible.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There are many reasons I left the US and moved back to Norway last year. The country acting like it gives a chicken fried McFuck about its citizens has to be at least three of them.
