Just started rewatching recently - Eccleston is awesome, and as always I wish we could have gotten more time with him as the Doctor.

The universe is big, its vast and complicated, and ridiculous. And sometimes, very rarely, impossible things just happen and we call 1/2

Dear epsiode of Doctor Who.

dressagette
I just watched this episode, are you psychic?
AxidentallyEpic
TheChosenofKhorne
Because of him billions upon billions of people have been enslaved and exterminated and that's not to mention the lives he's taken...
Joxem13
This was because he was supposed to be the war doctor who killed his entire species.
TheRaiderofRandom
Then why did the episode's writer know that?
TickleMeFlymo
She looks like Erna Solberg let herself go (even more)
HitmewiththatSpaceJam
Was there any particular reason he only did 1 season? Did they not like him for the role?
StTriniansHeadBoy
The set at the time had a culture of top-bullying which he hated, and his dad died near the end of filming, not improving his mood.
Karatethedanecookofmartialarts
Yeah like I heard people kinda treated him poorly and he was done. But I was he had stayed. He was brilliant.
StTriniansHeadBoy
It wasn't so much him being treated poorly as the people on-set who has the less glamorous jobs, like runners.
Karatethedanecookofmartialarts
I heard something about him clashing with the producers and writers ; but that could be just a rumor
StTriniansHeadBoy
The reason he clashed with them is the bullying and them not doing anything about it. They did for series 2, though, it's said.

"The majority of evil is done by those who haven't decided to be good or bad yet"
HandsomeJack19
Brits really like fart humor. - What I learned watching the episode (Eccleston's 4th) when those aliens were introduced.
QuincyEndicott
My favorite as well!
zMilkThistle
I absolutely love the Doctor. The character development is continuous.
tuxedobob
What the hell is this show even about?
StTriniansHeadBoy
An alien who has adventures throughout time and space, often accompanied by a total sort.
Karatethedanecookofmartialarts
Tarmaccian
A time traveler bumbles his way through a long life, causing and resolving several galactic-scale fuckups along the way. It's pretty good.

Billie Piper anyone?
timberrrrrrr
I've never seen this and don't plan to. Can someone give me context into who she is and how he's a murderer?
beauandmacysmom
He's a murderer because he killed off all of his own race and a race they were warring with (or so he thinks)
PoweredbyOSengine
She is an alien in a people suit and she and her fam killed much of the British government to wear to fulfill plans to destroy the planet.
beauandmacysmom
She goes about the universe killing planets worth of people and selling the planets for profit
OutrageousHemmorhoid
I don't even consider him Dr Who. A waste of a regen. :P
OutrageousHemmorhoid
Let me explain: C.E. did one season, right? Selfish. You should be required to do a minimum term of 3 or you waste the Doc's lives.
StTriniansHeadBoy
He quit because there was a culture of bullying on-set that he couldn't be party to. That and his dad died.
muisverriet
Also, it's not Dr. Who, it's The Doctor.
OutrageousHemmorhoid
I... know...
muisverriet
How? He was one of the best of the modern reboot.
OutrageousHemmorhoid
Tom Baker/Pertwee/ McCo for life! Hahaha
SindarElla
Eccleston is so underrated!
Leah24
Deffos my fave :)
StTriniansHeadBoy
Not by me. He's awesome.
Camelspotting
Great actor, okay writing, atrocious production quality.
zMilkThistle
I loved him and almost gave up on Doctor Who when he was killed away after one season.
zMilkThistle
But then I fell in love with the next Doctors for their own charms.
CursesAndMutterings
My favorite Doctor. I just couldn't get through the terrible Companions after Rose left. I got all the way to Donna before giving up.
DeafMangoes
Donna was my favourite purely for not being a love interest. Clara was a one-dimensional Sue.
Thefirstbloodbender
Donna was my favorite because she truly grew the most.
StonesOnTheHill
I liked Donna, the Ponds, and Jones, but couldn't stand the show turning into the Clara Oswald Adoration Hour.
Velexis
I liked the idea of Clara, but it was pretty badly implemented. But yeah, Ponds are best companions
rossy167
It's weird the fanbase at that point had got so teenage girly that nobody ever said "hey guys, Clara is a total Mary Sue"
ThisIsRadioNowhere
I would love to have had him as the doctor for a second season !
GorgeousGen
He didn't want to be type-cast.
StTriniansHeadBoy
No, that's what Alan Davies said to the papers, and Eccleston denied it and told him to shut up. 1/2
StTriniansHeadBoy
1/2 It was because the set had a culture of bullying, with the rumoured culprits being Paul Cornell, Euros Lynn and Keith Boak.
StTriniansHeadBoy
Correction: Not Paul Cornell. Phil Collinson. Cornell is, by all accounts, a lovely man.
ImHereToExplainTheJoke
I thought he and Moffat had a giant falling out? Isn't that why he didn't come back for the 50th?
StTriniansHeadBoy
Not he and Moffat, no. Moffat said he was very gracious about the 50th and that he persuaded him 75% of the way to saying yes.
ImHereToExplainTheJoke
Then who'd he fall out with?
Etheril
Not to spread rumors, but I heard it had to do with how the rest of the cast was being treated.
murderhobbit
Poorly, I'm assuming?
GentlemanBastardGibson
Best Doctor.
Shewy92
FussyZeus
Hell fucking yes. I was ruined for DW after watching his season, none since (or at least none of the young ones) held a fucking candle.
Deadpoolio7
He was. . . Brilliant
MOTHERFUCKINGVIRGINMARY
2nd best. I think Tennant has a very slim lead. But thats just my opinion pls dont downvote me to oblivion
TimeFoDat
I agree, Tenant will always be "the" doctor. Chris, Matt & their companions were good too. Jenna Coleman & Capaldi have no chemistry though.
TurduckenMcNugget
Who is Tom Baker?
IWasHereFirst
Great doctor. Bad scripts and no funding
PaleBundy
He was phenomenal in the role. Would have liked a second series with him.
BiiiigJilm
Eccleston played the part so well, I feel like he's incredibly underrated
SolveTheCipher
It's a shame that he didn't want to do a second season.
iHazPotato
Why didn't he want to do a second one?
BiiiigJilm
I believe he didn't want to end up being typecast as a "doctor-like" character for the rest of his acting career
StTriniansHeadBoy
No, that's not true. There was a culture of bullying on-set that he didn't like.
snowman520182
Yes! Everyone dick rides Tenant, and while he was good, Chris is the best.
PoweredbyOSengine
I liked Matt Smith.
snowman520182
Smith started out amazingly, but the writing towards the end turned him a Jerry Lewis clone.
PoweredbyOSengine
I think Clara made things a bit off for a bit, There was a lot of chemistry with the ponds.
snowman520182
That's probably fair.
TimeFoDat
Tenant's season had the best writing & best companions but Chris was excellent for the role. I liked Smith; Capaldi is OK but Clara sucks.
TimeFoDat
Clara started out fine when she was with Smith but she has shite chemistry with Capaldi & together they make every episode drag on.
suckfest9001
Tennant is brilliant. Including his role as the Doctor.
snowman520182
I like Tenant. He was great as Kilgrave. However, his doctor fell flat for me. It was enjoyable, but it didn't resonate with me like Chris.
suckfest9001
Have you seen him in Broadchurch? The music is so good. And his accent is perfect.
snowman520182
I haven't. I'm sure he's quite good.
