You're obviously being sarcastic but it'll be easy for you to say you weren't because you didn't articulate your thoughts. Ironically articulate communication is the point.
Most cultures depend on so-called "romantic" rituals = dating. What ritual is better than communication? Dancing? Movies? Drinking? Chaperoned meals?
Everyone's social norms are weird to other social groups but seems the Amish nailed it over romantic ritual bullshit. Simply TALK AND LISTEN to your potential mate? Brilliant!
Um......... I can think of worse things. It's a little weird how there are specifics on times, but really I feel like this is what teenagers everywhere do. The fact that they have Incorporated it into their accepted lifestyle is kind of cool actually.
I live in Amish Country, horse and buggies drive by my house daily. They have some odd rules, but they might think us non-Amish are odd too. I had to explain how my smartphone worked to my Amish neighbor once, it was hard to use terms I knew he’d understand.
As soon as she said "are you asked if youre okay with this" and she said yes, I knew that was bullshit. Yes on the surface even child brides claim they want to marry. Because they are beaten and abused behind closed doors otherwise.
While this may seem alien and abuse is possible, the Amish can be pretty varied and this isn’t weird (globally speaking). Off the top of my head I can think of similar traditions from Japan (Yobai), Nepal, and Bhutan. I’m no authority but the arrangement is a one I associate with matrilocal societies that provides a socially acceptable outlet for sexual exploration in an environment where if things get out of hand the parents (or grand parents) can start whooping ass. Check out the Mosuo.
How on Earth did you manage to come up with such an interpretation??? Sheesh… You're spending too much time with nasty people dude. Her teeth are otherworldly and I'm jealous, that's all.
She is no longer a part of the Amish community. She keeps up some of their traditions but mostly lives a normal life. She does videos on things like Amish baking recipes and the like. They did a story on her on CBS Sunday Morning.
You're probably thinking of Burak Özdemir, known on youtube as CZN Burak. I've heard he approves of Erdogan, which isn't super great, but the food he makes still looks pretty tasty.

The woman in the video is probably from the Swartzentruber community. Not all groups of Anabaptists are as conservative.

If there's something weird it's in your general bias or something related keeping you from making more than a 3 word comment on this interesting post.
InitHello
You're not allowed to have sex, but if some people didn't do it anyway I'd be extremely surprised.
SixSixxtySix
Happens about as often as you’d imagine which is pretty well all of the time.
ThinkingAG
And even if they don't have "sex", they are probably doing plenty of things that are sexual but not sex sex.

People are people, regardless of their religion.

I mean, it's not the worst thing I've ever heard.

They probably do it this way so they can tell ahead of time if their partner snores.

If only allergies, nose size, alcohol consumption, sinisitus, sleep deprivation, or other things were consistent through life!

Talking about the real issues right here! 🤣

She reminds me of a character that Adam Sandler would have created early in his career.

Her teeth are perfect, too bad the interviewer didn't ask about that.

Is the implication that she’s somehow a fraud because of that?

Yeah, it seems he does support him, but it also seems like he's a celebrity and HAS to or else he won't be able to feed his community.
I could be wrong. I hate that this is even a thing.
