Great video, ain’t about the AI song tho

My favorite bowl is a 40+ year old s**t-brown plastic bowl. Every night as a kid we would get some chips and that was the bowl I usually got. It also came with us on beach trips, which is why it has our surname carved into the bottom in mom's cursive because obviously this $2 bowl that probably came from a garage sale was in danger of being stolen.
loxiabun
For me it's not a "favorite" spoon/bowl. It's the RIGHT spoon/bowl, all the others are wrong.

More specifically, you have Asperger’s Syndrome, just like me.

Im so tired of everyone thinking they have ADHD and/or Autism just cause they dont like being in public settings, like particular things, or listen to songs on repeat
TheMoonBnuuy
And I'm so tired of people acting like "just because people who aren't ADHD and/or Autistic occasionally do something that is an ADHD or Autism flag means that those flags are not real, when they completely misunderstand that "having a favorite coffee mug" for a non-autistic person is NOT the same thing as "coffee has to be in this mug, if it's not in this mug, it's not right, it feels wrong, it doesn't taste right, something is wrong, oh god, so much anxiety, where is my favorite mug?"

Nope, it's an AI sloppy special

I don't get it. None of that stuff means you're autistic. Those are all normal things people do. I do most of those things.
TheMoonBnuuy
I knew a person who said almost exactly the same thing, but instead of "autistic" it was "trans".
They were all "every man wishes they were a woman".
I asked them if they ever considered examining their own desire, because no that's not normal.
Take the "favorite spoon" thing. But make it a mug. If you have this ONE mug for coffee or hot chocolate, and you find it hard to use any other mug because it doesn't feel right... you might be autistic.
Arathius8
Or you might have anxiety. Or you might just have a favorite mug. Truly most of these examples are not exclusive to autism or even abnormal.
This is a very entertaining example of one person’s experience of being on the spectrum but to say “you might be autistic if you have a favorite bowl” is really treading on the ground of debunked/internet personality tests. However, the song wouldn’t have been nearly as fun if it was singing a list of symptoms from the DSM I guess.
TheMoonBnuuy
Let me see if I'm properly understanding your argument here. Not trying to straw man, just trying to understand what you're saying.
Are you saying "not one of these symptoms is indicative of autism on its own, therefore none of them can be used as diagnostic criteria for autism, regardless of the severity of the symptom"?
Veh1
None of that stuff on its own, no. But if it's a lot of that stuff, all the time, negatively affecting your life... then it kind of is.
Bhurano
It's not normal to listen to one specific songs for hours or days on end?
Guess that's another thing on the pile for being ADHD and being Autistic.
And yeah, thinking about it, I do have favourite things like a fork older than me. Everyone whoever tried to take that? They got stabbed with it. My brothers had to test that limit. Not my fault they couldn't follow simple instructions, right?

manymadmasks
Can hear it in the vocals. There's almost this weird hiss. Hear it in most AI tracks. The more layer, the more obvious.
StormCrowMith
It is, im not trained or anything but if you have been unfortunate enough as I have to listen to a bunch of them in your feed, then you see that pattern, its a script being passed as a song, no pauses/silences ever used as a device, most AI use that same voice that transmits zero emotion.
ThisisntJessitsJess
Its definitely AI. Ill bet they used Suno.

Favourite use for almost everything bowl was given to me by a coworker who was leaving. The bought it from one of those cheap variety stores. I've had it 16-17 years and have not found any others like it since
ImNotAnOrange
I have a favorite mug, i got them from a vendor at my previous job, I used to have two, and I've broken one, so I don't use that mug as often for fear of breaking it too. I had a favorite bow, but I've recently found a new one, so I bought 4, because I figure I will break one or two. I do have a favorite fork, singular, because I've received 5~8 sets of silverware from old coworkers leaving he country. I force myself to rotate through my non-favorite items for fear of breaking the favorites.

Yes, people can have favorite things without being autistic. Here's a gold star and a cookie, ⭐🍪 now go outside and play.
SardineGoblin
Some people don't get that people can talk about things *in the context of things*. Having a specific spoon they prefer *in an autistic context* et al. Allistic people in general seem to struggle with things like context and being specific.

aminalhouse
Is no one going to mention that this is clearly AI music?
supermoon10
Probably why I/we found it over-stimulating. AI's trying to predict the catchiest, grooviest earwormiest tune it can, but that came down to repeating the 'highs' of the song with zero 'lull's to the point it just became overstimulating. The first fifteen seconds of this I was like "oh, this is almost a groove" but by the halfway point I had to mute because it was making my head buzzy.
COOLGUY68
Yes. Pisses me off as a full time content creator that also makes funny songs lol

She even released at least one entire album of this stuff. Over 10k monthly listeners on Spotify. She even admits it’s AI on her instagram. Fucked up times
StormCrowMith
AI songs really bother that authistic part of my brain that likes to imagine the person behind that created it. Knowing it was at best a script to song and at worst a prompt to song really grinds my gears.
NeoAcario
I mean... I do most of this... do I need to be tested or something?

While there are a LOT of undiagnosed autistic folks, many people just use it as an explanation for the weird shit they do but they are just weird, not autistic. In the same way that people who want things organized say "that's my OCD". No it's fucking not.
calenti
To some, the label is an effective substitute for work and certainly a hell of a lot easier to apply.
DMSledge
On the other hand there are a lot of people that tell themselves that they just a bit weird. Had I been diagnosed 30+ years ago, I wouldn't be in the horrible horrible condition I'm in.
Recaffeinated
A good friend of mine has real OCD. Checking is his thing. I've seen it real bad. Wanting your things tidy is such a far cry from the real thing.
spookyu
Indeed, and often OCD is secondary to a past trauma that drives that behavior. I've seen it argued that OCD shouldn't be a discrete and independent diagnosis since it's descriptive of secondary symptoms from an underlying issue which (e.g. trauma) which drives the behavior.
JosephBeal
It should be called obsessive compulsive order.
EveryBodyLovesMe
Yesss.
I’ll be honest, there is a pretty high chance I’m on the spectrum, but I refuse to fully acknowledge that bc I’d just be another self diagnosing twit. Some of us are just weird.
EmeraldLight
Self diagnosis is valid. It's the ones who fake it so they have an excuse that are in the wrong.
My psychiatrist isn't legally able to diagnose me, but it's clear that I'm on the spectrum. I can't rationalize paying 3-7k for a piece of paper that won't improve my life in any way.
Being able to say I'm autistic, even self diagnosed, means I have a reason for why I am the way I am. Because until 5 years ago, I thought I was simply stupid, useless, and unworthy of happiness.
EveryBodyLovesMe
I wouldn’t dream of spending that much. But like, even if I am. I am old enough that other than just knowing “oh I’m not crazy for some of the things I do”, what good would it do me? I can’t fathom it would open up resources for me or even change how I behave.
And I’m not being argumentative, I genuinely don’t understand how it would help me to know that information. If I thought it would make my life easier I’d be all over it, bc sure as fk knows this isn’t easy. Your opinion?
EmeraldLight
Aside from not feeling broken anymore, telling my job about things made them a lot more willing to make accommodations for me. That was the biggest one after the mental health relief.
It's the same as finally admitting you have a physical disability - your inability to do something isn't just because you're lazy, it's because you have a disability and need to make adjustments.
floatationman
Sometimes have a "why" is really super helpful, even if it doesn't materially change things very much. That being said, having more insight into one's challenges can make them easier to address. Not that same as actually easy, but changing the difficulty to "hard" instead of "unrelenting hellscape" is a huge improvement!
EveryBodyLovesMe
I’m usually good as seeing the outcomes of possible decisions and information but I still can’t see that just knowing that would help me…
Was that your situation?
floatationman
I'm in the "undiagnosed" crowd, so took some screening tests which seemed to indicate a pretty good correlation. It was helpful only in that I know why I get so easily distracted / hyper focused / absent minded, have so many half-finished hobby projects, and struggle with being places on time. Having insight into why doesn't help me manage any of that stuff. It does help motivate me to use the cognitive tools tools, because I know I need to and its rude to others if I don't. Also explains /1
OregonComputerGuy
Isn't everyone like this though?
dieselfury
Yea, these are pretty normal things, if you think you may have a disorder see a specialist for a diagnosis. It's like people who are particular claiming they have OCD.
shadowofacrow
ha ha welcome to the "OH SHIT" moment. And everyone has minor exentricities here and there but not everyone has a collection.
JacktheKind
I have news!
NachoIskerka
Some of this stuff isn't necessarily autism- we make songs that are basically candy for your brain, made to be repeated because we've codified rules and tropes to make them irresistible. Most people have a favorite coffee mug. Lots of people get overwhelmed by lots of noise and crowds because of anxieties and its a trauma response, not an autism response. And lots of people overplay phone conversations before they have them because we're socially awkward and who calls people anymore.
Wraid
Zathyra
Yeah i am pretty sure everyone is like that. At least i could make a check mark on each single point.
BruhForScale
Checked your profile you sure like bugs huh?
Zathyra

duhqueenmoki
BA in psychology here! The answer is yes and no. YES, everyone has moments like these and have the potential to relate to all of this (to an extent)... NO because if it's to the point that it impairs the ability to live independently, life satisfaction, or quality of life significantly, that's when it actually starts to satisfy clinical requirements of official diagnosis. The SEVERITY of the symptoms is crucial. Not everyone struggles to the point of it impacting their life so negatively.
ArcaneM37
I don't think i should have to hate my life to qualify. You make it sound like all autistic people must always be on the struggle bus.
My only dissatisfaction with life comes from neurotypicals who refuse to communicate clearly, say my sense of justice is wrong, and don't respect my clearly stated boundaries. Who I am is great.
duhqueenmoki
That's a conversation you should have with your doctor, not me. Have you talked to your doctor or psychologist about a diagnosis? I know you're aware autism is a spectrum, they can help you understand where you are on it or what type of autism you have.
I never claimed you or anyone wasn't great as they are. But no one should have to live in constant unhappiness, and if someone is, they should seek help. That's just generally good advice.
ArcaneM37
Adventures in missing the point.
One more try. Your description of autism is the problem. Not my life.
duhqueenmoki
Sorry? I guess? 🤷♀️ It seems my attempt to help someone (not you) as a reply to their comment (not yours) caused you (an unrelated person and not the intended audience of my reply) to become very upset, and that's simply not in my control. Don't make a stranger's reply to another stranger on the internet a "problem" in your life. This is my last reply to you, I encourage you to consider putting your energy somewhere more helpful to you.
duhqueenmoki
And that's not even all that gets taken into consideration for a diagnosis and all that. You'll also have to examine how successful you've been at forming meaningful relationships with other people or relationships. People are biologically, "naturally," social and want belonging. If you've never been successful at forming meaningful relationships, that is not normal... most ppl have close friends or loved ones 😢 and most people don't find sex that uncomfortable. It's okay to ask for help!
DeEscalation7of10
Autism and skitzophrenia are the only two categorical disorders. You either have it or you dont
duhqueenmoki
yes AND despite the categorical structure of ASD, quantitative symptom measurements appear more useful for examining relationships with other factors
5m4llP0X
Nope. I'm quite the opposite. Dishes are dishes. Clothes are clothes. If it doesn't do "more" (better durability, holds more good, keep things warm or cool longer, whatever) it's just another item.
WaitingForTheDrop
So your telling me no one else kept their favorite clothes from high school even tho they no longer fit? Or still has their childhood favorite cup they use occasionally as a special little treat?
5m4llP0X
I mean I didn't, that's more because I really didn't like my childhood and hated high school. I know nostalgia is a thing, but that's something different than "this bowl is my favorite... for no reason" or a "I like this spoon now"
WaitingForTheDrop
Yeah my childhood sucked too. My dad died, 1st step-dad abused us kids then we had to go to court & tell ppl about it so he went to jail, our baby sitter shot herself (I was there) my 2nd step dad would leave dirty litter on my bed, one time he threw a live beehive into my room while I was sleeping, then he called me white trash & kicked me out of my moms house. Cant say it was awesome but this cup doesnt bring back any of that. It has been my favorite cup for no particular reason since 3yrs old
5m4llP0X
It was a good book series. I liked it. Did the series really resonate with ya?
JacktheKind
Maybe not exactly like you, some less, some more, some not at all. But having favourite items in a mass of otherwise near-identical ones so far seems normal
WaitingForTheDrop
None of my dishes are identical lol I find random ones I pick as favorites and keep them. I have favorites for certain things. I have ones that are specifically for tea time with friends, ones for fancy meals with friends, ones for just me, I picked out ones specifically for my kid to use, ones specifically for ramen, one is specifically for ice cream, etc.
WaitingForTheDrop
The cup in question incase you were curious. I stole them from my moms house when I moved out and kept them thru 6 moves...its been almost 30 years.
5m4llP0X
See, that's nostalgia mixing in there. The spoon she shows off is a basic spoon. I can see people liking a print, I think it's akin to decorating your place right? (Something else I've not really done)

devasto
Martial arts and the impact it had on the world! I can directly trace Boddidharma, an Indian monk, to the direct influence martial arts had on American rap music
indigogogogo
That sounds fascinating, l
devasto
It's wild. Boddhidharma came from India to teach Buddhism. After thoroughly pissing off a king, and traveled to the Yellow mountains, hearing that there was a Buddhist monastery there. They didn't accept him,but they didn't turn him away either. So he lived in a cave just outside of the monastery and meditated for 9 years. After seeing the atrophy in the monks, while he himself was relatively fit, he invented different forms to help them try to maintain their bodies
devasto
Remembering that he traveled, by foot, from India, he had to at least have some degree of physical prowess. He developed "bone marrow washing" and "muscle-tendon washing". The original forms of these are lost to history; especially when you consider that a tenet of Buddhism is the idea of change. This was the origin of what we now refer to as the Shaolin Temple (Cliff notes version). The temple began to focus more and more on physical development, but insisted on political neutrality
devasto
Different abbots over time have disagreed with political neutrality, and started trying to intervene in the politics of China. Several times when they refused to help the military, the monastery was attacked and burned. This came to a head when a sect of the Shaolin, attempted to directly get involved during the Chinese Cultural rebellion. This led to a fracture in the temple, and many of the Shaolin priests fled China. Several still flee to this day

From the YouTube, Sonu is AI. We don't how much they used it, but they definitely used it.

Not just that, its very noticeable ai, it sounds like generic slop, like its reading a script without pause to a tune, its way too convoluted, busy, like it tries to check all the stimulation triggers
It mentioning being made by suno just confirms what i felt the first few seconds
RedTwoX
I'm surprised so many folks seemed to be debating it. Figured the screen cap from YouTube put it to rest. The up/down votes swung hard and pretty fast once I did. I'm not the least bit worried about my vote tally, but it's a good indicator that anyone who didn't clock it as AI on their own were getting the point.
TrumpRapesAndEatsChildren0002
I noticed something was off about it, lipsync was one thing, but there's more oddities, also in the vocal sound itself.
