The whole point of the flag, to my understanding, it to try and control bounce. As it was explained to me, there's just BARELY less than enough room for a ball between the side and the flag without flexing, so when a ball drops straight in, the flag tends to pinch it.
The comment isn't contradicting anybody, it's not a reply. It's just "wow, that's amazing, it should bounce," because that's what people expect when you throw a ball in a cup.

Seems like you're speaking to yourself. There is likely very few hole in ones that didn't roll in, which makes it nearly impossible to bounce out. Whereas a chip in like this has potential.
But even if every other no bounce chip in shot has bounced out, that means that theres at most a 50% observered occurence rate of shots like this bouncing out.
This actually sounds like a fun Myth busters topic! Would be interesting to see Adam and Jaime tackle this and all possible edge cases with practical experiments.
