#23 Camels. Proof that there is no god. Absolutely evil beasts. The worst part is they can turn their heads to spit acidic cud in the eyes of their riders. They are like if somebody crossbred a horse with a goat but left out the good parts of each, and the resulting spawn was possessed by a kimodo dragon and raised by scorpions high on bathsalts. Camels bloody well know they are camels and they are determined to punish the world for it by being made of too many knees and spite.

#16 I actually DID fuck off on my own accord once…to send a message.

I was at a lunch with 2 other people, and the conversation went a certain way. I volunteered my opinion.

“I wasn’t talking to you.”

“I’m sorry, I thought the convo was open to everyone at the table. I’ll just fuck right off, then.” I left the table to go sit in the foyer for a while.

I would marry someone if they had three musically gifted chipmunks.

2 weeks ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 1

Youre in luck, i have them. I mean they arent chipmunks, and there isnt three of them, and they arent musically gifted, but you dont sound like you have too high standards not to overlook a few missing qualifiers.

#28 Fun fact: This isn't an added soundtrack. This random guy just happened on where Aurora practices, singing and dancing barefoot with the other fae.

#29 just lost in the sauce

2 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

#4. Yup. And what a pile of shit it was too. Couldn’t even get rid of it.

#37 - Jesus. Were these people just gargling lead paint?

The only thing an x-ray would show you, is absolute tissue density, in heavy atom free structures, like flesh.

I despise when x-rays are faked by making them black and white, and inverted. And also when heat vision, is done by blue and yellow and red color change, simple visible structure. That's not the way the world works. Argh!

#9 The last one I used couldn't tell me wiping, would flush every time, the splash back was terrible.

2 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Sure you weren't shitting in an automatic bidet?

... are automatic bidets even a thing?

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Would make sense, but sadly no, random gas station. I would have had to remove the seat and then still squeeze in to get close to it being a bidet.

#3 "Do you want hashbrowns tonight or not? This is crazy. Some magical talking beaver like yourself can just leave me on delivered :-|"

2 weeks ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 1

I leapt straight to mountain bike but gave up on the other.

2 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Okay I'll take it

2 weeks ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

so I looked it up and it made me a bit sad. its looksmaxxing bullshit. HTN is a high tier normie and MTB is a mid tier Becky

2 weeks ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

HTN and HTB are the same thing, as are MTN and MTB. "Becky" is code for an average person. So HTN/HTB is an upper-end "average" person, in terms of looks, while MTN/MTB is middle of the road average person.

This shit needs to die. The idea of looksmaxxing needs to die. And the influencer Calvicular needs to die.

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm sad I know that now. Kinda mad that you shared that. Fuck this timeline.

2 weeks ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

My thoughts exactly. I learned this against my will!

2 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My best guess for HTN is hot tasty nuts, and for MTB is mid tier bitch.

2 weeks ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

You would be wrong on HTN, but actually pretty close on MTB.

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was thinking hypertension and mountain bike ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

2 weeks ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

Ha, I thought the same thing!

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

High tier Normie. Fucking weirdos talking like this.

2 weeks ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Is #28 AI?

And does anyone have the translation for the acronyms?

2 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

https://i.imgur.com/UiXOxMX A video I took in late summer on the Athabasca River. The water level was so low and the river bed so flat that you could be 100 feet from the shore and it still didn't come up to your ankles. The high winds kicked up the super shallow water in a way that created the same thing happening in #28

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thank you! I did not think something so beautiful and awesome could exist!

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I believe it is looksmaxxing speak: High Tier Normie and Mid Tier Baddie. Kinda saying hes in her league so why is she not talking to him. While also insulting her lol.

#11 It's so weird, the most tech illiterate people I know now are over 60 or under 20.

2 weeks ago | Likes 63 Dislikes 1

That’s because there was a time when someone had to be somewhat tech savvy to use electronics. Now they’ve made everything so simple that younger people don’t understand how any of it works anymore.

2 weeks ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

People under twenty have never had to do anything for themselves.

2 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 13

Speaking as a man who is over 50 that is one of the most Boomer comments I've encountered. Time for your meds gramps.

2 nights ago at work I had to teach a lady in her 20s how to use "Ctrl + Alt + Delete" so we could get to the Task Manager to shut down a frozen program. She'd never heard of the process before.

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think maybe that's confusing illiteracy with fear... I definitely observed a point in time where most boomers were afraid of this newfangled tech, but so were the gen-Xers who hadn't studied it, and both thought the millenials were tech wizards because they weren't afraid of it. but only the millenials who studied actually understood it, the rest put all their relationships on facebook and were mystified when their poorly-secured accounts got pwned or their PCs got infected.

2 weeks ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 4

No, this is coming from interacting with young people, either in a educational or professional environment. TBF, I don't get that many 19-20 year olds in professional circles, but sometimes they bring in young staffers. I'm often baffled by what they don't know. Not because I think they're stupid or anything, but so many of them do not have a grip on something like email.

2 weeks ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I wonder if it's just an inevitable part of abstraction as the visible part of tech moves on. for example, I'd bet the vast majority of PC users in the 90s understood hierarchical stores of files, but it's probably 10 years ago now that I read something from a STEM professor describing how the first-years didn't understand the concept of structuring data. data was something that "friend computer" managed for you. And that itself is a multi-layer abstraction on top of actual block storage.

2 weeks ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

RFC-822 email seems foundational now, but it only really became a broadly-used commercial service about the mid 90s, and rapidly replaced UUCP and amateur networks like FidoNet. Once you've spent your entire professional career communicating in slack or now teams, maybe you don't know how to read an email address and tell if it's a spear-phish or actually from your boss. the "user-friendly" approach of unrolling addresses and showing just names bit us there too.

2 weeks ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

It makes sense really and we see it with most tech. They become more user friendly, easier to use and the inner workings get more complex with fewer people understanding them. See also cars.

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not weird. They merely adopted the tech, we were born into in, moulded by it

2 weeks ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 1

It's the under 20 that's baffling.

2 weeks ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Was at a hotel recently and went to the front desk. My friends and I (28-32 year olds) asked the lady at the desk (18-20is) if they had an HDMI cable because the streaming service didn’t seem to be working(we wanted to hook a laptop up to the tv) She said “what’s that?” made us feel so old

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So many skipped desktop PCs and just had tablets and/or phones.

2 weeks ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

a few days ago I sent a friend a movie to watch and ipads can't play mkv for some reason and she just can't figure it out no matter what

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I worked in tech support for some time and when I asked the caller to tell me what icons they saw in the taskbar, they asked "What's a taskbar". It was jarring

2 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Our access to technology and information being systematically dismantled and paywalled...

2 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Modern electronics are designed to isolate the user as much as possible from how they work. Even simple concepts like "there is a tree-based filesystem".
I remember the Mac vs PC ad where they were sorting photos, and the PC had thousands of unsorted photos that he was going through one-by-one to find what he was looking for, and the Mac solution was to use their facial recognition system. 😬
Meanwhile I'm like "put them in folders by date?"

2 weeks ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

The file system on Android is infuriating. Especially when it insists on showing album and book covers embedded in mp3 and epub files as pictures in my gallery. And every picture in the phone's memory when I try to upload something. It's utter chaos.

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

well mobile OS were designed from the outset to a) reduce friction in uptake, and b) monetize user activities. that makes it rational for their designers to hide the details from users and sell it as "user friendly" that it manages the details for you. fwiw I think I agree, for example the hardest part of managing my audio library these days is that the way I've used it for 30 years conflicts with apple's profit, so iOS is now the worst platform I use when it comes to enjoying music.
