FWIW: A few years ago my local news market (ALL of them!) "retired the "old girls" who had been the faces of the news for years. Brought in a bunch of young babes. Now, 4-5 years later, most of them look like this lady. The real beauty queen of the group is still VERY pretty but looks like about 185 lbs. No waist - huge butt. Early AM and weekend news is now being populated with a new crop of VERY young ladies. The best talented was a bit plain and just got a huge "influencer look" makeover.

The face that sunk a thousand ships. 😆

"That woman looks like Helen Greene."
"That's nothing - you should see her in Blue!"

What's wrong with the hair..? Looks pretty standard.
hyptosis
nothing, her hair is fucking fly, that guy can kick rocks

Wigs can be fun, but the wig caps can cause compression headaches, so make the choice carefully.

I found this funny enough to send to a buddy

Women in a lot of TV shows wear wigs. It's just easier than having to do their hair everyday, I'd do it if I was a lady, I'm lazy.
Neurisko
A lot of women not in any kind of special visible role also wear wigs, because there are such high standards for a woman's appearance and it takes a lot of time to make hair look "pretty enough", especially women with hair that's sensitive to humidity.

I would if I was dolly Parton or something

I do not understand any dipshit that looks at her and thinks "too fat, unattractive." She's lovely.
FrancsTireur
She's stunning.
And im not even very attracted to women, I prefer men.
I have an ultra specific time for women, and shes just perfection.
NeverDunNuffin
I understand it in the sense that different people find different things attractive.
Not so much about feeling the need to share that opinion when no-one asked and it would have been easier to just not be a dick.
ifixlasers42
Yeah she is. Also a great sense of humor. Wait, maybe not for me when she finally see’s what I’m packing that’s lacking.
SubtleOrc
it's still gotta hurt a bit... but she's very cool. good way of dealing with it. I wish her the best

Man, imagine you're kidnapped by a guy, and then for the rest of history you're known forever by the place that kidnapped you, rather than your actual home.
Ivalicenyan
Huh?

Also, the Trojan Horse wasn’t theirs for very long.
Mec26
‘Kidnapped’ yeah…
peterchen
Sources say she didn't mind being kidnapped.
SubsyServy
Yeah but also the myth that the first champagne coupe was molded from your breasts. That is Harvey Wallbanger tier fame.
LaffertyDanie1
But you have heard of me.....

Better than being kidnapped as a child and forced to marry some guy and then get saved by and married to your true love and still have to use your slave name from the previous marriage I guess.
MCNewYorkLives
... Pocahontas? I mean, it sounds super specific, but I feel like this has happened way too many times.
Ambipolar
No, Helen of Troy. The original commenter didn't know the whole story.
JokenPo0079
I assume they're talking about Helen being kidnapped by Theseus (and in some stories having a child with him) Then there's the suitors and the oath of Tyndarerus (her father) proposed by Odysseus (as always Odysseus is the cause of all of Odysseus' problems) when she's married to Menelaus, then her kidnapping by Paris. I'm unsure which of these they're saying is her "true love".
Personally I prefer the kidnapping story, otherwise Helen's kind of a dick for just abandoning her daughter, Hermione.
JokenPo0079
And important thing to remember though, is that greek mythology was very much alive. There is no set canon, just a bunch of stories that often contradict or build off of each other. Sometimes Helen has a daughter, sometimes she doesn't, sometimes she has a daughter and three sons before the Trojian war. Sometimes she's kidnapped, sometimes she leaves of her own volition.
Cornflakes91
she couldn't deal with unexpected wizard child
FluidExchangeProgram
….what happened?
JokenPo0079
Helen of Sparta.
FluidExchangeProgram
Oh hell, I thought Carissa got kidnapped 😅
ClutterMonkey
Horse stuff. Not many people alive today understand it.
NeverDunNuffin
CrisprCAS
No, that's Catherine the Great, not Helen of Troy.
ClutterMonkey
Different horse stuff. In Troy they filled the horse with men. In Russia the woman was filled with horse.

It's a fun joke but it has a pretty icky origin The rumour (yes rumour) about Catherine and how she died was started by rival powers as a smear campaign, mostly because she dared to be both powerful and a woman.
