CocaCola is owned by CocaCola

6 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 3

you're clever, but you can't fool me, I know it's CocaCola's all the way down

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I would just like to take this opportunity to say fuck nestle and the owner thinking that water shouldn't be a human right

Illusion unclear, put diversity in ass

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

it's not that scary really

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This CAN help me avoid Nestle. They're all evil, but I just hate Nestle so much.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh sweet. now I can eat cheetohs instead of oatmeal for a healthy breakfast since they're basically the same thing

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I thought parts of my pizza tasted like dog food.

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I used to work with Nestlé, JBS, and Cargill. All our rejected product or dropped on floor goes to animal feed.

I hate this industrialised system.

Well, this is also the result of greedy smaller companies/corporations agreeing to sell out to the 'popular kids.' Integrity meant nothing.

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 3

To what degree is this smaller companies gobbled up by the big? Looks more like their line cards.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When has business ever been about anything other than "selling out?"

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

The illusion of diversity, and the illusion of diversity, political sense, that these companies push forward to sell more.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

diversity of what? Taste? Ownership?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Now i know what other brands P&G make so i don't buy them either.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Communication companies are the same way if not worse. Almost guaranteed your "local" media provider is owned by Disney, Verizon, etc.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

This is late capitalism: who works for who is obscured behind the facade of corporate subsidization.

6 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 7

Or just companies can produce more than one product, like yeah the cereal producer has more than one flavor whats the problem?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Most of these are ssmaller companies bought up by more successful competitors. That leads to more devious price control by those left on top

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It leads to the concentration of wealth and political power. It's not just "different flavors" of one product type, they make everything.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But that is what it shows you have a drink company listed thats all drinks, two cereal companies that are all cereals, and so on...

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes. It's a business tactic to corner your market, driving competition to bankruptcy or absorbing them. I.E. Sony/Nintendo/XBox do...(1/2)

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Something similiar by purchasing studios (like insomniac) giving them a degree of control over the IP.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Still better than no one making any food.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And the ones on the outside are all owned by disney

6 years ago | Likes 195 Dislikes 1

They don't own them wholly. Yet.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Scary to think about

6 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

I didn't expect this to get so many replies, I don't know for real if they do. Here is Wikipedia's list of Disney's owned property: 1/

Quasimonopolies ... Companies that pretend they are NOT monopolies

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Irrespective, the number and scope of available consumer goods is still one of the hallmarks of our era. (1/2)

We put our energies into new crackers and fizzy drinks more than into, say, solving world hunger or climate change. Pass the Oreos please

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And then there's DR PEPPER!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

1/2 they are few – we are many ... let‘s stop buying their products, let’s stop giving them our money, let‘s stop giving them power ...

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2/2 ... minimalism just for a few weeks ... a small sacrifice to bring back our freedom

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The scale of the propoganda machine keeps too many in ignorance.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This one is slightly clearer

6 years ago | Likes 473 Dislikes 5

Eh, not really. It looks rather opaque to me. It doesn't even have an alpha channel.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I didn't see "Water" under Nestle

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

You’re the real MVP

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

And if you zoom out, all of these are owned by the Sheinhardt Wig Company, which in itself is owned by... *jazz hands*... Halliburton!

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Gonna guess the single downvote ya got is from Ops hurt feelings

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

I think there may be bots that automatically downvote..

Failure to report for reprimand will result in reprimand.

Charming.

That whole corporate greed plot has to be a reference to Bethesda and the stuff they're doing to poor innocent Fallout

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 5

Well maybe Interplay shouldn't have sold it to them.

The best moon person he can be.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You've had the rest, now try the best!

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Yep. I used work for Nestlé USA and we had quite similiar chart in the office.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Better to have all these companies owning a lot, than one or 2 owning everything. I would like to see more companies, but this is not so bad

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

This is still only some of the market share of each product...

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

...it's not so good either. Why would we settle for "meh"

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Keep in mind you are seeing a snapshot. The market was more diverse before. So as time goes by this chart will get simpler.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Exactly that, but shhhh, we live in a free and happy world...

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Are we channeling Slavoj Zizek here? ?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Everyone is happy now...

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Right- don’t point out the bars of the cage...

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

just take yer soma... the bars fade

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And? Does it matter if Coke makes both Coke and Sprite? Off brand stuff exists that you can still buy. Also, the amount of head companies...

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

might not be diverse, but the fact that they are all owned by a head corp is why a diverse amount of products are available...

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

everywhere. Local and smaller business couldn't afford to production costs for so many products nation wide.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It does matter because lack of competion can result in lowering in quality (ie. HFCS) as well as worsening of worker conditions.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Amazon's behavior is good example of this. They have their market cornered, and have achieved that largely by mistreating non-union workers.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Amazon isn't a fair comparison to the food companies in the OP and its a different situation. I see several of the companies in the OP...

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

have brands of soda, brands of candy, brands of cereal, etc. There is still competition there. Also, off brand stuff does still exist in...

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

supermarkets. My point about the positives also still stands, the fact that there are big head companies is why a diverse amount of...

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I used to work in US in the meat industry. There's very much an illusion of divrsity there. Smithfield,JBS, and Tyson own smaller ones>

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I.e. at JBS we would load some of products into boxes for different companies even though we were the source.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Could be. I was saying an Amazon-esque situation could be an eventuality if there are further mergers.
