There's no consequences for evil in the US. The govt gave business owners $ during the pandemic to pass on to their employees (which, since no 1 checked to see if they did it, they didn't!). Trump has 34 felonies and is a known pedophile, he's still allowed to be president. Cops are breaking every law we have, and nothing happens to them. The same ppl who claim govt can't do anything right, are the same people intentionally dismantling the govt so it can't work.

How? Do they not clock in and write their own time sheets? I would assume the work they do is case based and can be tracked down to that? Like I worked in maintenance and we had to write down single hours per machine we did. And clock in normally. So you could try to cheat but if you collected too much unaccounted hours someone would ask about it. And pretty early on.

I hate to tell you, but it's a lot more common than that one individual... it's just they don't really go looking for it, so they don't find it... she's brown, so she probably pissed someone off and they looked into her. If they start looking into all the white guys doing it they'll be missing half their force.

It's a chronic problem all over. When I was young, we noted that there'd often be five cops standing over a kid sitting on a curb with a skateboard. I have since learned what they're doing. Court dates are set 30 days from the violation date, so the cops are checking their schedules to see who has the day off. Then, that cop writes the ticket. They get to sit in court for hours for a defendant who most likely won't even show up, and bill OT for waiting through the entire docket.

IIRC, many departments in many cities do this. A popular tactic is to grab someone for something trivial right at normal quitting time. Then they get to claim OT for all the booking paperwork.

Yep as someone who works in gov finance and see payroll yep, police departments do this all the time and governments are scared of making police angry. They are also usually way stricter on Fire Departments regarding overtime and budgets

Hell yeah they do. When I used to work at nightclubs and bars, we’d pay cops to stand by the front door in case any situations arose. They’d be paid by the club AND ride the clock.

The fire department in my city was discovered to have a system where they would call off and another fighter would cover the shift at time in a half or double time and a half. Then they'd switch so the other person could do it. They would all do this for double their listed salary. Nothing was done about the corruption.

Where im from, veteran cops sign up for all the overtime they can because their pension is based on their last (sone number, 3?) years' pay. They don't work it, though. They pay a younger guy under the table to work those shifts.

Even the ones who actually work the overtime will set it up so they get a lot. Huge percentages of arrests happen on the cop’s last 10 minutes of their shift so they have to do overtime for the booking and paperwork.
