Hell yes! Congrats to our more enlightened neighbors. I hope your rationality rubs off on TN sometime.

Good news.

GA lost enough business with the heartbeat bill that reasonable people were able to convince just enough Rs to stop being self destructive

It starts with little wins. Then gains momentum. A win is a win.

Sounds like the beginning of a chorus to a great parody song.

"2026 Session Ends"? There's still 2/3 of the year left to go! WTF?

How’s Ohio doing

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So they will wait until the start of the next political cycle, rather than the middle of the lame duck cycle.

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They started at the beginning of this one. GA is gerrymandered but not overwhelmingly so. Enough pressure on just a few can stop things.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Republicans are the party of hatred and Nazism; they are Christo Nationalist fascists.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"2026 session" they're not coming back until January?

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We just passed the point where bills had to be finalized and voted on in order to come into effect on the default date of July 1.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

All this time wasted on persecuting a group that composes a fraction of the population. A group whose lives have minimal impact on anyone. Such utter bullshite.

Next Texas!! Please!!!

At least W could be an entertaining idiot from time to time.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wow, Georgia, more progressive than Ohio. Thumbs Up!

I'll take it.

In these times? Absolutely.

3 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

now, if only there was a way of removing each legislator who tried to get these laws approved.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Georgians need to vote.

But they're mostly brainwashed with fox propaganda.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

FUCK YEAH!

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I bet this means all Future Laws or some such. Nobody ever rolls anything all the way back.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Or Bills presented very publicly to the House and the Media as they quietly slip those cuts to Education and Welfare through while you wave your placards in outrage! Don't Stop! That's want they want. Bombard you with this Shit while they sneak horrible stuff in.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have a Grump On because My Government sees Your Government get away with it time and time again. So My Government tries the same tactic. AND IT WORKS! I am not pleased with your Government right now, but I am very Pissed Off! with mine too!

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is good news, but gosh that quote "...not a winning political strategy". I guess asking them to protect human rights because it's, you know, *right* is just too much to ask. A win is a win, though, so I'll take it and be glad.

3 months ago | Likes 319 Dislikes 5

Sometimes you gotta take a win even if it's the wrong way.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Surely the television and movie money has something to do with it. I doubt they suddenly became altruistic.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don’t wait for people to do the right thing for the right reason. In the real world they’re going to do the right thing for less than noble reasons. But it’s still the right thing.

3 months ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

They call it taking the W. It doesn't mean the problem got Thanos snapped away. It doesn't mean you're not gonna face the same thing tomorrow. It's called, sleep, we won today, we need to be back out tomorrow. and just finished binging Andor, rebellions are built on hope so don't give up that we can rack up more Ws https://media3.giphy.com/media/v1.Y2lkPWE1NzM3M2U1bzUxNG5raDJmYTVhcGswNjk4emplbHBveWpjZ241YXU3d201ZzBtaiZlcD12MV9naWZzX3NlYXJjaCZjdD1n/w8vMgUZlrS3vrdcrDB/200w.webp

yeah if they cared about doing what was right we wouldnt have even had those bills on the docket

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

To the right, the massive anti-LGBT push they're doing is mainly about political strategy. Particularly the anti-trans stuff. They didn't spontaneously start being supper concerned about where trans people pee, a few years ago. It was a test case of their strategy of using trans people as a wedge issue to scare moderate voters about people they don't understand. And it may have helped the GOP. They can't really rely on anti-gay stuff so much because too many people know someone gay to be scared

3 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I'm pretty sure that is why the political strategy stuff was brought up, not that it's all politics in defense of rights too.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It’s just a distraction. They are making you put time and effort into this so they can fuck up other things. Smoke and mirrors. The people who push this typically don’t believe it themselves but know it triggers people.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ah, but the people pushing for these discriminatory laws don't consider other people "human", and thus don't consider them worthy of having rights.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You have to talk to them in their language. It stood out to me too, though

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Unfortunately, human rights are political issues. I would argue it's actually a positive sign that making one of your main campaign issues just discriminating against queer people is unpopular; the average chud just wants to be able to pay rent, buy groceries and fill their gas tank.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tbh I'd rather have stupid jerks leave vulnerable people alone for dumb reasons than appeal to a morality they don't have.

3 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This ⬆️.

People shouldn’t get a reward for doing the right thing for the wrong reasons

3 months ago | Likes 60 Dislikes 1

true but given the amount of wrong things done for the wrong reasons going on, ill take right thing for the wrong reasons for the time being

3 months ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

we can worry about right reasons once wrong things cease the majority of things done.

3 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Darn Tootin' If they voted for this to garner popular opinion they will soon see how Social Media and Popular Opinion are two very hungry, yet very different Beasts.

Georgia is literally the state I point to when people say the dumb thing "why not just cut off all the red states and let them fend for themselves" CUZ I'M NOT FUCKING LEAVING GEORGIA BEHIND. I'M NOT. DOING THAT. TO THOSE GOOD PEOPLE.

3 months ago | Likes 78 Dislikes 2

But like.... What if we funded moving progressives out of the state and we could do the same for maga who want to live in those shit holes?

3 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I agree wholeheartedly with your point. It's inhumane and would disproportionally hurt minorities to just cut off all the Red states, but Georgia's a purple state at this point.

3 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

My sister and I care deeply for the LGBTQ+ people that are here. They are born and raised here and deserve community members to support and love them, even if their parents and or church doesn't. I will stay. I will vote. I will advocate.

3 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

A lot people love to forget this sort of thing. A lot of people in red states are not bad people, they're just trapped by bad people. A trans person living in oklahoma can't get out easily. Moving is expensive and leaving behind a support network of friends and family is hard. A lot of people of color in georgia or alabama face the exact same issue. If we cut off the red states we abandon a lot of innocent people, leaving them to die.

Hell, I'm Canadian and angry at what's going on down there, but I wanna hug everyone involved in making sure our lovely and incredible queer folk are safe and accepted no matter where they are. I hate hugs, but I could break one out for that.

3 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Hey the good lord gave ya two arms for hugging but as your attorney from Minnesota, legally you don't have to give any hugs, but we may need to approach the possibility of a one arm side hug just to let them know :]

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Yeah! Hell yeah!

3 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I don't leave people behind if I can help it in anyway

3 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

We need so much of this kind of energy, it gives people courage

3 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Propaganda isn't just Goebbels, or how a British person compliments a goose. There's good propaganda out there. Eg Jon Stewart. Keep up the good fight even if you're on imgur just talking and raising people up. You're a messenger and a propagandist. In the best way. Cheers this shot is to your health

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The other thing is that half those red states would be purple or even blue without blatant cheating by Republicans. Everything from bullshit gerrymandering to outright fraud gets ignored if it's by a Conservative.

If elections were free and fair I'm willing to bet states like Georgia, North Carolina and even Texas would be blue.

3 months ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 1

Ohio is another perfect example. Our piece of shit Secretary of State purposely rewrote the ballot language of an anti-gerrymandering amendment in order to confuse voters.

Hey can I offer you a small condolence? You're not Indiana. You can always rest safe in the fact that you are not Mississippi and you are not Indiana. ❤ https://media0.giphy.com/media/v1.Y2lkPWE1NzM3M2U1ZW81MW5qcmJrOTFjeGJneXV3N3g3MzFhMnB2azR2eTJ4ZGJheXBlZSZlcD12MV9naWZzX3NlYXJjaCZjdD1n/etjcZ88kV1rLG/200w.webp

All the major cities in Texas are blue.

3 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

You can take out the 'in Texas' part and it's no less true :) fuck the sticks. I have to move back out there soon because of life BS (family) and I'm not looking fucking forward to that. Even in the outer burbs I see bullshit conservative stickers and graffiti like, 'that's high school graffiti lookin shit that was written on the gas station bathroom wall by a 40 year old man probably.' Give me anything but whitopia. I don't wanna rest at semi-rural white nowhere
But that's my cards right now

3 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I get it. I’m in one of those cities, but my elderly parents are in a very MAGA rural area an hour away. I am white, but I could never live there, either.

And think of the peaches.

3 months ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

More pecans are grown in Georgia… South Carolina for peaches

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Lenny: is it pe-can or pe-con?
Carl: are you gonna be asking that this whole trip?

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ikr you ain't never had a really good peach unless you have a really good, ripe peach. I say the same thing about watermelon. Watermelon sucks... unless you got a watermelon plug that can get you the goooood shit

3 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Or a really good ripe plum.

3 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Mmm pluots are a favorite. Damn now I'm sad the only fruit I got in my fridge is canned mandarin oranges and the worst strawberries of the strawberries I got. They're all pale red I ate all the really red ones

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sounds like a good time to make some strawberry cobbler?
