I had a dream once where I was advocating to change the name of Slave Lake to Dene Lake. See, westerners got the name for Slave Lake from the Cree, who had named the region a slur against the Dene, whom they enslaved. So Slave Lake is a translation of a Cree slur for Dene and it's one of the geological features Canada is known for.
I just think it would be nicer all around to rename it Dene Lake.
