Historically, nothing bad has ever happened when getting this close to a bison. Especially nothing recent.

I think that big unit is called Hank. Last summer he had a pair of jeans hanging off his horn.

I know I’m not supposed to pet the fluffy cows but they’re so fluffy!!

Sometimes they don't care. The times that they do care though, epic

One time I was at the zoo with my dog and there were bison. You could feed them so they came very close to the fence. Since there was a baby bison, I guess one big bison thought my dog (a small corgi mix) was a potential predator so it got really aggressive, stamping and hitting the fence. My dog got scared and went behind me and tried pushing me towards the bison with her head, lol. She thought I’d fight the bison for her.

Based on the panning sense of the distance would imply there was a lot, A LOT, of luck that the Bison didn't just mind the photographers business too

I'm guessing the person shooting this is inside a vehicle. If they get this close, staying quiet and inside your car until they decide to move to a safe distance is the correct move.

Wanna know how big they can get? REALLY FUCKIN' HUGE!

2 weeks ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

It's unreal to be near one. You really don't expect them to be as big as they are

Just recently there was an elderly man attacked by a bison in yellow stone and he was nowhere near it when it saw him and went after him.

2 weeks ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

He was in fact, in a campground

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And yeeted the man metres into the air, breaking his femur

I can't be trusted to mind my own business around the fluffy cows. Urge to pet is too strong.

left hoof dragging?

2 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Oh, yeah. Maybe they are older?

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah looks like it, could be from a ferocious battle with another male, those can be brutal.

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Maybe it just itches.

At that height he’s probably started to rack up air miles

I'm sorry, are we seriously making jokes about this guy as if it's his own fault he was injured by that bison? We need to be better than this, people.

I'm not sure we should be making fun of this one. According to all the witnesses, he was standing well away from the bison when it attacked, in accordance with what park staff tell visitors. Wild animals are going to be wild animals of course, but there are other, bigger jerks in Yellowstone.

Dude did nothing wrong and broke a hip. Very funny!

2 weeks ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 5

Yeah people are so used to the idea that everyone who's attacked was being an idiot that they kneejerk and mock everyone. He was just unlucky.

2 weeks ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

One could argue that bison acted in an unpredictable manner but all wild life can and will be unpredictable so the only thing you can predict wildlife to do is act unpredictably. Only thing he could have done differently was not put himself in a situation where one would need to run if you yourself are too old to run

he may not have even been aware a bison was in the area. they'll usually put out a warning but he was on a walk with his grandson from a different area, and had the misfortune to come in range. in this instance it's no different than accidentally coming on a bear in the woods. I was ready to blame him too, but in this one instance there was nothing he could do (except avoid bison territory altogether which is a different conversation
).

You just completely invented a whole scenario in your head, wow

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

bruh what do you mean I just looked it up old man was on a walk with his grandson Google is (still) free (for now)

2 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I understand animals can be more than unpredictable, and that precautions should be made. My point is, the tourist wasn't being obnoxious, wasn't that close either. Dude just had bad luck, and I find the joke to be in bad taste. These people however were extremely dumb and would deserve getting turned into a meme

2 weeks ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 3

Look i agree, gramps was pretty far away and wasn't really doing anything but when it comes to wild animals if you are within charging distance you are in fact too close. We are just really used to getting away with it.

2 weeks ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 9

I'll agree with you on that. It just frustrates me that the guy is getting meme'd when he really doesn't deserve it.
