erinaceus
they actually dont understand economics. all they understand is a rising or falling personal asset balance.
Arkandos
American goods are relatively easy to boycot. American services though, that's harder
BHOUND
Give ya a 9 out of 10 not a tax payer
ItsATrap
I will certainly not be celebrating the 250th birthday of my country either... unless it is paired with a long-awaited funeral.
MrYsGuy
I’m an American. Here here.
FoamingToad
*Hear hear*.
dixxienormus
There are athletes who have dedicated their entire lives to compete in this event run for the benefit of a racist regime, headed up by a pedophile who has just ignored the plight of Ukraine and invaded Venezuela, simply to distract from the Trump-Epstein files.
ElusiveThing
I hadn't thought of this, but it has precedents. I'll see what little I can do here.
TeddyMoment
Next nationwide protest, go to it.
The 10/18/2025 No Kings had 7 million, or 2% of the US population.
We need to hit 12 million people, in the streets.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3.5%25_rule
huffnpuff72
It needs to be at least a week long general strike as a start.
InkyBlinkyPinkyAndClyde
I agree you should do it, but I don't think the 3.5% means protesting for a few hours every 6 months. People were constantly in the streets for many of those, and they also had leadership with specific goals. The US doesn't currently have that, and that's what they need. Someone is going to have to step out front and lead the revolution. So far no one has.
BrdCdn
Yep, weekends don't fucking count or mean shit really.
EroticZombiePants
I'm pretty sure the rule applies when that many people are continuously protesting a country 24/7 and not just that many showing up to protest for a day every couple of months though.
Skawomplious
I'm a US citizen, and I agree. Make it hurt, please. Make it bleed. It's the only language they understand.
davebarton315101
Survivable consequences and maybe we can fix it, before the consequences become unsurvivable.
cptnobvious537
Does that include Imgur?
Yufer
I will continue not watching but even more so this time!
Jewdakris
Don't come for the world cup and everyone stay home. Let these cunts lose every cent for giving him that bribe. A bunch of major cities expect to make millions this summer, don't go. Let those hotels and bars and stadiums be empty. Celebrate at home.
GreenFox
The Nazis hosted the Olympic games in 1936.
pandajack
But will they come back when it's over?
Kittenman15
. and the Football World cup too.
twoamartist
Why wait until 2028? Let’s start with the World Cup?! Seems more fitting.
cantbelievethisisstillavailable
I have no intention of watching any of the World Cup this year on TV. Fuck FIFA, fuck Trump, and fuck MAGA.
BigPLLL
We all need to reduce, recycle, and re-use as much as possible. For many reasons.
Dannyalcatraz
As a trained economist, I’d say they DON’T understand economics. Much of this administration’s actions are proof of that.
What they understand is use of money (in all of its forms) as projection of soft power, and then, only when they’re doing the projection. They’re befuddled when economic forces are levied against them. They’re mystified that anyone else might be able to fight financial firepower with financial firepower.
(And so far, they haven’t seen what the world could do to us.)
METROlD
As an American worker: Its really bad. Our government hates us and is literally just pillaging everything they can take. As a voter, I have a very tiny voice. But as a country, boycotting is very powerful. America is being held hostage and needs help.

cuddleskunk
I assume you mean individuals outside of the US boycotting all US goods. The people who are actually stuck here buying only imported goods is terrible for global ecology, and it's not like buying imported goods isn't being done through a local distributor who gets a cut anyway. Short of not buying luxuries, I don't know how we Americans can actually participate much in said boycott without starving.
pixelsnader
You can for example bypass the whole U.S. cattle industry by eating Brazilian soy. 1 tonne of beef requires 8 tonnes of feed. 0.6t of that is (largely imported) soy. That 0.6t has as much protein as 0.8~0.9t beef. You can say fuck Coca/Pepsico and buy EU Schweppes or MX Jarritos, or Indian tea. But they never said boycott ALL U.S. products. They should EVERYONE should boycott (some). Boycott large corporates, exploiters, trumpian-aligned. Choose short-chain, local, cooperatives, etcetera.
BHOUND
Have you happened to see how happy they are in Venezuela? The are greatly appreciative to get the unelected man out and see light at the end of the tunnel.
FoamingToad
He was a shit, yeah. That does not excuse a war crime though.
lonelyrangerofthedreams
I will boycott everything possible from USA, also our stupid mind-enslaved fascist prime minister in Italy, which soon will even blow the Felon pedophile in public rather than admit he is a dictator.
By the way, Meloni said USA had the right to “defend” itself.
Didn’t mention about the unconstitutional process of attacking a sovereign country or the exploitation of its oil resources.
Ostegonation
As an American I can tell you that it's only going to hurt normal people. Those in charge are so disconnected from reality and so insulated from feeling the impact of anything that it won't matter to them.

Jim Beam was the first victim, courtesy of Canadian alcoholics https://apnews.com/article/jim-beam-bourbon-distillery-shutdown-kentucky-a8303cd04005a9108ff43690faad421b
kahlas
Keep Canada's name out your mouth on this one. It wasn't like Canada just one day woke up and said fuck Jim Beam. It was BS invoked by Trump that caused this, not your pretend Canadian alcoholics.
BestofUwU
I'm really hoping that when they do reopen it's as a Suntory Whiskey distillery instead.
AmZero85
The biggest market for Kentucky Bourbon was China. The red state shot itself in the foot when they elected tariff Trump.
lopix
We got a few others before that
Vungor
Canadian here, I switched to SCOTCH.

This is what we need. Money is what will hurt them. Money is all they care about.
redpandabanana
They also like punishing people they don’t like.
IHaveAGuyForEverything
Money and little girls.
BillHubbard
I can't start with boycotting American goods. Have been doing so since trump "got elected".
Bragg2187
Yup, same here.
sunshineflavor
We thank you for your non-support. I mean that sincerely. Hopefully more will follow
AeonQuasars
Same.
4Astaroth
I don't even use Amazon anymore. It's not much but all I can do since I never buy anything from the USA.
barstr7
Oh you still use Amazon, whether you realize it or not. Half the site's you visit use AWS. It would be nice if people from other countries started pressuring their companies to use something else. Until then, you're all still using Amazon.
4Astaroth
I guess you're right. There are also a lot of ads and links to Twitter.
CorvidPrime
As an American worker: I agree. I HATE it, but you are correct.
factcheckmate
Also corrupted Fifa affiliated World Cup held in Americas
sunshineflavor
So true.
MrStealUrMeme
(As an American) Dude, this country needs to suffer badly in these next 3 years, or most of the voting public will just forget all about the atrocities the GOP has brought upon the country in 2030 and 2032. Just like how the voters forgot in the 2022 mid terms and 2024 presidential election.
cuzitsthere
I agree... But I also have a 6 month old, so you better guard the fuck out of the mashed bananas cuz I'll be damned if he goes without
BrdCdn
Regime won't end until Americans rise up and do it themselves. You guys got nukes. Ain't no one coming to save you.
