Some men buy a sports car. Others write Chef.

May 8, 2026 11:17 PM

Every chef that I know often punches significantly above their weight in the looks department. People like good food and being able to make good food makes people more attractive.

Don't forget Joseph Gordon-Levitt. He wrote, directed and starred in the film Don Jon (2013). And who did he make out with in this film? Scarlett Johansson. xD

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A sport car doesn't make a profit of $35 million, so maybe he was on to something...

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yes, but don't you want your chef to have excellent taste ?

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or maybe since he's the main character we're seeing them through his eyes which is why they're so gorgeous. Ever thought of that?

When I was a college student I was involved in some biomedical research for credit. The researchers always talked about doing research involving sea urchins and porpoises because you’d be working in nice warm, ocean environments

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

To be fair, he was an up and coming star chef in a popular LA restaurant.

Thats when he was with scarlet.. and didn’t get Sofia very sea back until he was a success again.

But ya know also as Mel brooks once said. “It’s good to be the king.”

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

women love men who can cook. nothing surprising there.

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I have yet to see someone confess their love for me and I am by far not terrible as a cook

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have found that women love men who can cook, clean, do laundry, are kind to them and are funny... Much more than "guys who are hott"

"guys who are hott" get dates, guys who are kind and genuine get partners.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

TBH when you work alongside people in high stress environments? You form bonds. The person you are comes out and you see it in others. Also Faveru wants the goods.

Knowing how to cook and having a good personality cover a lot of woes. Comments like this post are just from a bunch of people who think looks are the only thing that matters because their understanding of relationships are that shallow and they have no attractive qualities themselves.

2 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

The truly funny thing is people thinking most Chefs cook at home regularly. After back to back to back 12 hour shifts, the most I'm doing is microwaving something and falling asleep halfway through eating it.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

As someone who has been in the food service for almost 30 years. I don't think that. The fact remains that when I do want to cook for my loved ones, I bring the heat and it's got me more ass than I'm going to relate on some silly social media board.

2 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It could be that he's a really good chef. People get attached to that.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

So true. The idea that it's weird for someone to be with someone else because they are perceived to be more physically attractive (which is subjective to begin with, my 10 would be someone elses 5) is so bloody teenage. Just be nice to her (genuinely nice not performatively/transactionally nice), take a real interest in who she is and the things that matter to her and make her laugh regularly. In my experience that's enough to maintain a good relationship with most women (romantic or platonic)

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Its true that attractiveness is entirely subjective. However then there are just some truly, hideously ugly, unattractive people in the world. They are not rich, or funny to make up for this fact. I know this because I am one of those people. No amount of being nice can help if no one else can stand even looking in your general direction.

2 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

As a chef, it’s surprisingly accurate in the food parts of the movie, and generally enjoyable

2 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

The guy he got to train him for the role was extremely serious about not wanting to be embarrassed to have other chefs see his name on the film. Favreau also took an interest and got pretty into cooking. They had a pretty decent food show on... Netflix, I wanna say? I am very much not a chef so I can’t judge the cooking but I can say it was fun, at least.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, that was Roy Choi. He’s not going to win a congeniality contest, but he’s a skilled chef and came up with his own food trucks. Faverau did really get into cooking and his Netflix show also starred Choi who wandered with him, cooking with celebrities. It didn’t last long, I’d say because it was a mix of two very different things, the celebrity blah-blah show, and a technical cooking show. I think those two audiences were quite separate.

It was great to see proper cooking in a movie though

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's pretty solid.

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Favreau is no Spielberg but he's a good director. Oh and he (with RDJ and Jeff Bridges) saved the MCU.

2 months ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 3

Saved star wars’s pathetic showing yet again, by ripping off the Japanese. (Lone wolf & cub) to make the mandalorian, literally pulling their shitty ass out of the fire of even worse movies.

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Started the MCU. Anything by fox and sony before that doesn't count.

2 months ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 3

Yeah... but also saved, because they had no full script, they improvised almost everything.

2 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 5

OK? Saying they "saved" the MCU implies it was an existing thing that had been around for a while, and wasn't doing well until they showed up. It was literally the first unproven film that would lead to the biggest media franchise in history.

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

It would be in my top 25 movies, prob not everyone’s but I loved it. When it came out on streaming years ago I watched it alone, my roommate came home later and watched it again with him, girlfriend came over the next day and I watched it again

2 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Plus some damn good cooking scenes. A cameo by RDJ. Oh and there’s an annoying kid too, but he’s only a little annoying because he helps to push the story.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

All of the Favreau movies *I've seen* were well put together, and well cast. So he puts himself in his movies. So what. He's believable in the characters he's played. That's *my* definition of good acting. If I don't spend the whole movie going "That's Robert Downey Jr.", and instead immerse and think he's Tony Stark. If you can entertain me and I can forget your RL name. Enjoy the product. Well done. See PSH in "Charlie Wilson's War". He ------ IS ----- Gust Avrokatos. Great character

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Also, PSH (Phillip Seymour Hoffman) pretty much CRUSHED every role I've seen (Birdcage) etc. Even more impressive given the heroic levels of Heroin he was doing. Either the directors and acting types gave him slack, or he was acting while acting.

TBF in Click, Adam Sandler's wife is Kate Beckinsale who dated Pete Davidson in real life, so maybe its not that farfetched.

The script in Wanda's hand pretty much distilled this trope down to its purest form.

2 months ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 1

I'd recommend watching "Kevin Can Fuck Himself" which is a weird parody of those shows, especially King of Queens.

2 months ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

It's actually funny because King of Queens is really one of the better shows of that type. While Doug is fat and Carrie is hot, their dynamic isn't nearly as one-sided as the stereotype suggests. Doug is usually a happy and down to earth guy, and Carrie is often grumpy, controlling or opportunistic.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I don't get why people complain about stuff like that, when funny guys get smokeshow partners all the time in real life. Including Adam Sandler.

2 months ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 6

As a funny ugly woman, I feel justified in complaining a reasonable amount about this trope. Plus the trope where I am either a lesbian tertiary character with mediocre oneliners or I end up with the weirdest male character every imagined who secretly harbors a stalker-esk obsession with the way-out-of-his-league leading lady, but settles for me.

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Don't get me started on those. Hollywood tends to just plain not like women who aren't conventionally attractive, outside of comedic or very specific roles.

Kate Beckinsale -> Pete Davidson. Case closed. Coincidentally, Kate Beckinsale played opposite Sandler in Click.

Pete has had a string of girlfriends in such a way where you gotta assume he’s funny, makes women feel good about themselves, and likely is unusually well hung, all at the same time.
