Because, historically, women have been kept out of the field with the industrialisation of the medical industry. Pretty hard to see a female OBGYN if there aren't any or they're not accepting new patients. Also, there's the whole professional expectation that you treat your patients with respect regardless of gender thing...

I had a full panic attack/sensory overload melt down coming out of surgery. My lovely recovery nurse helped me cover my head with a sheet while I calmed down

I think it's less about the Soviet union and more about the cultural antithesis of the American capitalist mainstream. Evoke that whole fully-automated luxury queer space communism thing

Well no, expecting others to conform to grooming standards that are not imposed on you because it is socially acceptable to do so IS hypocritical. Do you have any idea how much time/money/effort it takes to keep your entire body hairless and silky smooth at all times so that strange men don't feel entitled to tell you that you're disgusting on the street. It's fucked

Sorry about that.

Does it though? I'm a scientist and an autistic lady - while some dudes can be awkward it's rarely the predatory misogyny disguised as "loveable nerd" shit depicted in the show. When that behaviour does rear it's ugly head in my workplace it's treated as the sexual harassment that it is. That whole 'its harmless coz he's a nerd' thing normalises some pretty gross stuff for already socially isolated people.

Native plants are the most likely to survive w/o extra care (usual caveats for invasive species ECT). Natives will have the biggest impact
