It was a day of lung pain after every soccer game when I was a kid. 30 years later I run regularly with no issues.

The haze these days is (mostly) just that - coastal haze - moisture and other natural processes. It has always been hazy in the Los Angeles basin. But now the air doesn’t hurt to breathe…

There’s in-car of this too - just as scary. Luck+modern safety equipment is pretty amazing.

That’s somewhere between a 15 and 30 minute service. Not really that unusual though - that’s a reasonably regular repair in rally racing (at the top levels).

I don’t think many will get the wrestling reference.

Yes, most high end cars are that way. Keeps them from moving and shaking. The actual exhaust outlets are in line and inset right behind them. Bumper still shouldn’t have fallen off though!

Yes. Better than the alternatives.

Great use of hysteric (the word) - hopefully on purpose…

That’s an electric motorcycle, not a bike/e-bike. Not allowed on the sidewalk (most places even bikes aren’t) and should be following regular rules of the road, registered, licensed, etc.

That’s NOT an e-bike, it’s an electric motorcycle and needs to be ridden exactly like a normal motorcycle (registration, licensing, insurance, etc).

The more you do, the more you can do. Keep up the good work and learning.

Could be worse: https://www.navytimes.com/news/your-navy/2024/09/03/how-navy-chiefs-conspired-to-get-themselves-illegal-warship-wi-fi/ (my BIL was a chief on a different ship in the same class when this went down)

Basal cell carcinoma then? My dad has been treated on and off for it over the last 25 years or so. Correlated with living LONGER, not shorter. The topical chemo does make the skin look like that. It also looks like shingles - my second round of shingles was in nearly that exact location. Both seem like reasonable possibilities and neither is very serious.

I think she thought the baby’s foot moving was a bug and she was looking and smelling for it…

They do burn really well. We used to burn them in piles in the back yard (1980’s). Yes, with a permit, when it was safe. Not really any other easy way to dispose of them and we had around 1/2 an acre where they would grow that wasn’t used for anything else.

Automation happens on products that are the same in the same line for months/years. Products like this would be made on that line for days, then that same group of workers will do another product.

I’m going this Friday for the first time. Missed it when I was a kid, but our kids won’t!

Yes, but you’d make a lot of money by betting against his prognostications…

You could have made a TON of money doing exactly the opposite of what Krugman has supported…

It already is regulated - total brightness, light source types, beam shape, aim, etc. The worst ones out there are modified- which is also illegal. Not enforced very often though.

That’s bamboo, not wood. That’s how it’s made in to flooring and other similar items.

Yes - I’ve been able to avoid TikTok. : )

Dunno, this is literally how humans learn - especially at that age. Mirror neurons and all that…

It was a revelation in my long-term-relationship (now spouse) when I started asking a follow-up question about every family party start time. Something like “When are WE going to get there?” or “When is the meal going to be served?” or whatever is appropriate for the occasion. Lowers stress for everyone involved…

I’d guess much more option 2 than 1… since I still regularly drive one of those old vehicles.

2020, not 2025

Ah, Tonopah. I don’t suggest anyone goes there if you can avoid it. I was there for a (car) rally race and was too busy to visit the clown motel…
