Imgur's beta reveals a future with only one user-space tool remaining (reporting, a user-space tool that is contentious and spawns dozens of "I was banned for that! I only showed two dogs having sex with infant children!" comments). As such, my exodus from the site will happen then. It's mostly been an experience in the utterly shitty and self-involved reality of people here. I won't be sad to leave. For the two or three people messaging me: it's been a good time. I am glad to have met you, if only via briefly passing in the night. And for the inevitable, "well you should create your own site and do it better then" comments: no. I have better ways to spend my time, and am involved in an edu-startup. SaaS-stuff, yes, but SaaS-stuff that has real-world impact, scope, and reach. Besides, there are thousands of Imgur sites out there, many with better user-space tools and back-end/data tools. I'll go to one of those, possibly, if I want to see cat videos.
