They used to be. Centuries of breeding has all but eliminated the issue. Its unpalatable, and green/sprouting potatoes can still be problematic. But it's pretty much a non issue these days.

I know its not what always happens, but there can be both parental aesthetic and bright colours.
All reasonable quandaries to navigate...but also kind of beside the point. There's nothing wrong, IMO, with a tax making the exorbitantly wealthy be less exorbitantly wealthy. There is plenty of precedent for a Tax used to discourage a behaviour. I can see how it may be complicated to tax, (more importantly to close loop holes!) but that doesn't mean it cannot nor should not be done.

For example, my great grandfather virtually hoarded barbed wire clippings. BUT. They were exact. Everything was meticulously labelled and sorted. You couldn't actually stop him, at 90+ he was still being chastised by police for effectively stealing clippings from people's fences.
