Gawd... Do I have to? I already filled out a form to join this stoopid site.

I just made an unforgivable noise out loud in my local cafe. Thanks.

There's a cafe I frequent that uses the Mario coin sound when an order is up. It works!

When it comes to the point about danger money, of course it makes sense that a dangerous job would pay more- but then why are nurses paid so little. Nursing is a way more dangerous profession than lawyering, but it doesn't attract high levels of pay. So it's not as straight-forward as saying that dangerous jobs pay more. 3/4

When a job or career is male dominated, the things that might exist to support women in the workforce are less likely to exist, or be accessible; things like maternity leave or part-time work options, are systemic barriers that can prevent women from accessing a particular career. Again, there may have been good reasons in the past why these industries didn't have these options, but they are systemic barriers that exist to exclude women from certain occupations. 2/

Good questions! Systemic barriers are as simple as the fact that a particular industry is male dominated. Oil, rigs, for example, are 95% male. Most women are not attracted to a job where they will be completely surrounded by men. I'm not suggesting that anybody is malisciously excluding women from these roles, but these barriers exist, and are supported by traditional gender stereotypes over the history of these industries. 1/
