Most people who talk about 'punching fascists' are actually closer to being fascist themselves than the people they want to punch. Sadly, the term 'fascist' has by custom and practice ceased to have any connection to that form of government it refers to and has come to instead mean 'someone who has opinions different from my own, that I wish to see silenced.'
