Medialab's quality moderation was what got Whisper completely overrun by spambots and cp-advertising accounts
Some of those pieces look damn near identical to my parents'. Although theirs is Akai IIRC so probably just a coincidence. Guess they had pretty uniform layouts

At my previous employer they announced a cap on flextime, going forward, every two months the hours you had over the limit would be cut. They also put in a cap for negative hours. Any questions?Me: "So if you're under the negative cap, you'll cut that down too, right?"

Not the guy you asked, but when my employer has had a customer go to a cheap cost Indian competitor, when they come back it's on the condition that we toss whatever they did and do it right from the ground up. Trying to fix whatever they were left with not in the cards.

No personal experience from US work culture, but all the Finns I know who do say office workers in the US are much more concerned with looking busy than actually working, and get a whole lot less work done than in the Nordics. There's many different perspectives

Yes, we do sometimes call mozzarella Moomin meat. There's a good video about this on YouTube, but sadly I don't think it translates well. It's also a popular theory that kebab is made of Moomin

Acting nice to strangers is not considered mental, it's considered normal and polite. Pretending you're somebody's best friend definitely comes across as fake. Yes, sure, it's a cultural thing. Finns show friendliness through action, tone and respect, not filler words.
You can act friendly and say kind words without being obnoxiously fake about it.
As I learned while in uni, just because you can fit seven people in an elevator for three doesn't mean you should.
Japanese games had a well deserved reputation for being ridiculously difficult, I remember one case from the 90s when they added a difficulty level below "wuss" for western release

I'm not making an argument or saying it gives the rumor any more credibility. No idea whatsoever where it originated. Just providing a bit more information about it taking into account some of the things you mentioned.
The same rumor claimed that Amazon shot down all existing possibilities that could have been used, such as SoB, female inquisitors etc. for various reasons and so something new had to be made. Honestly I might even believe it, considering how poorly Amazon has handled some other IP
